Always wanted a tea kettle and originally looked in the bigger Smeg Kettle. When they came out with this smaller size I jumped at the opportunity and so glad I did! I use this almost every day and it heats up the water in less than 2 minutes! Not only is it the perfect size, the retro look of the Smeg goes so well with our kitchen. I’m so happy I decided to buy this!

This is the perfect kettle for 2 people. I love that it looks lovely, feels like good quality, is silent when boiling, and quick. Unfortunately, I have replaced it twice due to the kid being stiff and eventually pulling off. The very tightly fitting lid is a design flaw for areas with hard water.

Pros: Perfect size for my family of 5.. holds enough water to make 3/4 cups of tea from one boil. Light weight so easy to carry and pour (especially important for someone who is elderly, disabled or requires a small light weight kettle perhaps) and overall looks extremely cute! I love itCons: If I were to pick any improvements (which is hard really) maybe to be able to see how full the kettle is from the outside and/or have a more prominent marking inside the kettle where the max mark is.currently, as someone who cannot see too well would really struggle with seeing that. That's the only thing I can say needs improvement honestly

Pros: I like everything about this kettle. I bought the mini version, living on my own I am hoping to save on electricity. The lid is easy to open and there are markers inside to tell you minimum and maximum filling. It is very quiet and I love the choice of colours.
I debated for a long time as to whether I needed one. I’ve always used a kettle on the stove and that seemed fine. Well, this little kettle is absolutely great. Water heats very quickly, and it’s so super cute. It’s very well made and I’m so glad I bought it.
The lid is really stiff to open, you do need to use quite a bit of force. Consequently the lid covering has come off in my hand twice. Was bought so my elderly mother could lift it to make tea as it is a small capacity, but she hasn't the strength to even open it. It's a lovely looking item, but definitely form over function so have sadly had to return it.
We recently found ourselves on the market for a new kettle and eventually settled on the Smeg Mini Kettle Black. In this text I will outline my thoughts on the first month of ownership.Let's not dance around the obvious, this is not a cheap appliance. At this price point you can probably have your pick from pretty much any kettle on offer. But we went with the Smeg Mini Kettle Black after considering the following primary attributes. Firstly, the brand name. We don't entertain often, so the brand name really only had limited appeal for us in terms of outward appearances (although the mother in law did approve) but as with most brand names it serves less as a daily reminder that we actually spent more than $12 on a kettle, but more as a guiding totem woven into the ... Firstly, the brand name. We don't entertain often, so the brand name really only had limited appeal for us in terms of outward appearances (although the mother in law did approve) but as with most brand names it serves less as a daily reminder that we actually spent more than $12 on a kettle, but more as a guiding totem woven into the daily ritual of tea making. The Smeg Mini Kettle Black also strikes good balance between the retro kitch of the refrigerator line, and the adaptation of modernist forces. The Smeg Mini Kettle Black navigates the potential pitfall without falling into contriteness (and without the onus of owning one of those colossal fridges). In this capacity the Smeg Mini Kettle Black excels.Speaking of capacity, this is the next attribute that drew us almost immediately to the Smeg Mini Kettle Black. A lot of kettles strive to have a liter or more in capacity whereas at 0.8 liters, the Smeg Mini Kettle Black celebrates Italian restraint. I must confess the last time we were on the market for a kettle, we fell into the trap of volume as it's a easy way to differentiate amongst a field of more or less identical devices and the question that became apparent every single time we boiled water at the minimum value was, how many times are you realistically going to be making 4 liters of tea Less is more.Thirdly, we have to consider color. Our previous kettle was made of glass, and the only problem with that is you can see instantly the Sydney water creates burn marks where the elements contact the base. The problem is easily solved with a cycle of boiling a vinegar water mix, but there is of course durations of ambiguous and indeterminate duration between these renewals where the kettle is not quite dirty enough to be cleaned, but not completely without spoil. With a glass kettle you have no choice but to make this assessment each and every time you engage with the apparatus. With the Smeg Mini Kettle Black while not avoiding such ambiguity, at least hiding it and making it an opt-in experience. This kettle is expensive, yes, but using price as a stumbling stone one can learn to cultivate new curatorial approaches to purchasing habits. It is very often the arbitrary and thoughtless process of consumership if left unchecked can lead to disastrous consequences for ourselves and the planet. If you are going to only buy one kettle in your life, make sure it's the right one. Don't be that person who buys a new cheap kettle every few years, as the price may be cheap but the manufacturing impact is the same. Therefore finally, and I think this most timely bookend to this review, is to talk about the colour. Nobody need bother calling the kettle black, it most clearly and demonstrably is.
Pros: Smaller size and weight great for ease of use and only boiling sufficient water for the task. Beautiful pink colour.Cons: Could have had a flip up cover and temperature range.
Pros: Elegant and works wellCons: The single hinge mechanism for the lid has a caused people to dislodge it 3 times. I think it is a design fault all in all because nostalgia is one thing, but opening a kettle should not need to cause one to leave a note about it
I just love this electric kettle. We have a basic one, however it takes so long to heat. this SMEG is not only beautiful, but heats water in less than 3 mins to 210 degrees. I also am fortunate to buy the toaster!!! my second and last toaster I'll own, beautiful and functional!
