Pros: The two different size bowls and ability to weigh in the mixing bowl.Cons: Aplastic guard is provided but this can only be used when using the large bowl, when using the smaller bowl flour etc goes everywhere. You have to remove the whisks by hand which means yiugetfood o your hands. Witha small amount of thought these problems could easily been resloved.

Where to begin? This is a phenomenally poor machine for the price. The days of Kenwood being a premium British brand are well and truly over. I can only assume Kenwood/De Longhi have tried to add too many bells and whistles and have forgotten the basics. Completely, utterly not fit for purpose. Issues as follows:1. Does not incorporate ingredients AT ALL. You have to stop the machine every 60 seconds to stir everything in by hand. Bread ingredients? Well, you have to make all the ingredients homogenous BEFORE putting them in the bowl, otherwise you don't stand a chance. The spiral dough mixer just swirls around whatever is in the middle of the bowl, and any other ingredients will be left round the sides of the bowl, even after 8 minutes of 'kneading'.2. ... MoreWhere to begin? The spiral dough mixer just swirls around whatever is in the middle of the bowl, and any other ingredients will be left round the sides of the bowl, even after 8 minutes of 'kneading'.2. Meringue? Not a chance. The rotation of the whisk -- even at maximum speed -- is so slow that you would honestly make better meringue using a hand whisk. It literally just makes froth.3. The scales are inaccurate. Don't breathe or sneeze near the bowl when weighing, as the weight will suddenly change by 20g.4. It walks. Badly. Anything more than 800g or higher than speed 4, and this machine will take itself for a walk across the countertop and, if you're unlucky like me, it'll go so far as launching itself off the countertop onto the floor. Don't believe the reviews that say it doesn't walk. It really, really does. A long way.5. The creamer attachment creates a high-pitched, nails-down-a-blackboard, screeching noise when in operation. Advertised as a new attachment that scrapes every last scrap from the sides of the bowl when creaming, what it actually does is smear the batter around the sides of the bowl for you to scrape down yourself every two minutes.5. Bizarrely (and inexplicably) it seems to coagulate raw egg when making the sugar/egg mixture for Genoese sponge. Within seconds you end up with globs of 'cooked' egg (and that is WITHOUT the machine's heat function being on). I tried it numerous times, thinking I was going mad, but it happened every single time. It's like witchcraft. Even had to call my husband to bear witness in case anyone thinks I'm crazy! All in all, a complete waste of money, a terrible machine and not fit for purpose. Don't be seduced by the Kenwood brand.

Very pleased with this mixer. Strong motorand scale and warming features save time and effort in the kitchen. If you have the cash, add some of the accessories. I did, and find they work very well and have enabled me to regift some of my other appliances. So - also a safe saver. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I can’t get a colander/sieve accessory - any chance of developing one, Kenwood?

Excellent kitchen companion

An early Christmas present I have had this for the last 3 weeks and been putting it to good use with the entire family here for the festive period. I am loving using this and have tested out most of its functions. The warming element for melting chocolate using the machine preset works beautifully. I have also made and proved dough with great success. I had previously been using my mums original chef Kenwood but it had reached the end of its life after 35 years. I was concerned about too many gadgets but I have had no problems so far.. The touchscreen works well even with flour covered hands. The built in scales I have had no issues with and makes life that bit easier. The machine has not walked for me but again I think this is making sure you are using the correct settings as most machines will walk if you are putting it up too high. The only negative I have so far is the plastic collar feels a little weak but has been fine despite this.

First model dead on arrival, replacement dead on arrival too
5 July 2022

The mixer I got was dead on arrival - didn't work at all, with Error 49 displayed on the screen, beeps and a flashing light. Galaxus quickly sent a replacement, which immediately showed the same error and didn't work either. For this price, I expected it to work flawlessly. It's easy to understand what quality checks are worth these days. One star - does not work, a waste of time and effort.

Pros: Very good customer service, no problem with returns and refund.Cons: 1st mixer the motor became faulty after 1 use. 2nd mixer had a rattling touch screen indicating poor quality control. Too many features at the expense of engineering quality.

Powerful Kenwood
7 July 2022

It takes a bit getting used to as it operates using a wee coloured screen and other buttons. The "manual" is just a leaflet with some images so I downloaded a manual from Kenwood which was much better. Made cakes, pastry and bread dough. The in bowl weighing & proving function makes things easier. I bought this as a machine that could cope with serious bread dough making.I also bought a dicer attachment as my hands are not up to lots of chopping. It's very expensive and very tall it won't fit under everyone's worktop if you have low wall cupboards.

So disappointed
29 January 2021

I was so excited to receive my new Kenwood chef KWL90. I've had Chefs for 30 years and they have never let me down, until now. The first machine wouldn't turn on so was returned immediately, thank goodness for JL customer service! I had my replacement within 2 days. The 2nd machine worked initially, although the touch screen was a bit temperamental (I put it down to being a bit heavy handed). Today, using the dough recipe in the instruction booklet to try out the warming and preset functions, the machine wouldn't mix the dough for more than a few seconds before it stopped and asked me (via the touch screen) to 'close the lid' - which, annoyingly, was closed. I pressed lightly on the lid and it recognised it was closed and I was able to start the machine again. ... MoreI was so excited to receive my new Kenwood chef KWL90. I called JL again and this machine is now out of stock so I will have to wait for a replacement. I'm glad I hadn't sold my good old trusty chef! I will try a third time, to see if I have just been unlucky, but the lack of reviews online tell me this brand new model might have teething problems. My advice is to try it, but use every function as soon as you can to make sure it works!
