I am an avid shopper of John Lewis and Joseph Joseph products. Like similar reviews this is overpriced and a huge disappointment. I have had the plate rack for barely 3 months and it keeps rusting and looks very unsightly in the kitchen. I was surprised to see it does not come with a warranty like many other products so I have escalated the matter with john lewis and waiting to hear back. I have also sent them pictures. I would not recommend this product.

I bought the dish rack as we have a butler style sink on a wooden worktop with no draining board. The design is modern and stylish and it is easy to take apart and clean. There are little rubber ends on the legs so they won't scratch the worktop. Expanding the rack is very easy and it still seems to be quite sturdy when extended as there is an extra set of supports on that side of the dish rack. My main grumble is that if you leave the draining spout open, the end of it is only 6mm above the worktop which means that it is too low to get over the edge of the sink which is above the worktop. You can leave the draining spout closed but then you've got remember to drain the water after putting the washing up away! Anyway, I've got around this problem by putting the rack ... MoreI bought the dish rack as we have a butler style sink on a wooden worktop with no draining board. Another minor grumble is that when it is extended some water does drip through the holes on the extended part. This hasn't been a problem so far as I haven't had to use it in the expanded position.

Why US sinks often don’t come with draining boards I do not know. Our rented apartment has just a sink and no drainer. I was using an ordinary draining rack and draining mats underneath but all that happened was that they became sodden wet and you’d get standing water because there’s nowhere for it to drain. This rack is exactly what I wanted, with a spout that drains into the sink. I don’t know if I have it set up right or not though because it seems to lay quite flat, I have seen some water drain from it but that was when I tipped it up a bit. The extendable piece is slightly warped I think, and doesn’t sit over the other piece quite right so it creates an angle to drain. So the water tends to sit on the dish rack instead of draining away. It’s still way better ... MoreWhy US sinks often don’t come with draining boards I do not know. Our rented apartment has just a sink and no drainer. I like Joseph Joseph products but generally think they are overpriced for what they are, this is an exception. Great design, perfect form and function it really is value for money. We bought it whilst waiting for a dishwasher problem to be solved and now use it to minimise dishwasher use. When it's not needed we slide in the tray and it sits quietly next to the sink.Does the job perfectly
SO PLEASED TO GET THIS AS A BIRTHDAY PRESENT. SO DISAPPOINTED WHEN IT LEAKED ALL OVER MY COUNTERTOP! THE SPOUT WAS WIDE OPEN AND CONTAINED A DRIBBLE OF WATER BUT WHEN I LOOKED AT THE BACK WHERE THE PUDDLES WERE GREATEST, THE WATER WAS COMING OUT OF THE EXPANDABLE JOINT SECTION. IT DOES CLAIM "SLOPING BASE CHANNELS WATER TO SPOUT" BUT THAT NOTE IS ATTACHED TO A FULLY EXTENDED DRAINER. AND HOW CAN IT SLOPE WHEN ALL THE LEGS MEASURE THE SAME?I ADDED 2 STRIPS OF NON-SKID FELT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE 2 REAR LEGS. NOW IT SEEMS TO DRAIN CORRECTLY. PITY THIS DESIGN DEFECT SPOILED MY PRESENT, THOUGH.
Love it. It is very neat and such a good design. Also it looks smart. It drains efficiently, and glasses and pans still dry quickly. Very good for draining glasses which might break in the dishwasher. Really pleased and it looks great, we have the blue one, and it blends in with the kitchen. It is also very easy to clean.
I purchased this because it was simple and stylish. The colour complemented my new kitchen. Its flexibility has been great, it can be made smaller or larger by sliding the 2 halves. There are endless ways to stack dishes and it holds a good amount.Water drains well from the moveable spout and it comes apart easily to facilitate thorough cleaning.
The colour completely matches the kitchen. The size is much better for our use - plenty of room for all dishes etc (we don't have a draining board). I love JJ designs. However, the design of the spout with the plug isn't as practical as the previous design with the moulded spout to not be able to have it over a built in drainer. I am going to write separately to JJ to see if I can change this. I've tried to stop the leakage, to no avail.
This very expensive dish drainer is supposed to constantly get wet while sitting on the kitchen sink. However, it soon started to develop a unsightly and unhygienic black mold around the plug gasket. This black mold proved impossible to get rid of, despite using bleach and all sorts of industrial grade detergents. For such a price, this should not happen!!
I have been toying with the idea of purchasing this rack and eventually I gave in and bought it. I am so glad that I did as it is brilliant You can extend it a little way and I love the idea of the spout to drain the water. I have managed to get lot of dishes etc on there as things can be stacked in different ways.Great space saving design and excellent quality . Looks stylish and works well Would most certainly recommend.
