I bought my wife this speaker 2 years ago for Christmas. She uses it for teaching yoga and around the house. It will no longer take any charge or power on after 2 years of light use, in comparison I found a Wonderboom speaker on the highway 7 years ago and use it daily as a mechanic and it's still working perfectly.JBL has basically told me it's out of warranty so it's my problem.I would highly suggest looking at Wonderboom or any other company. $300 for an "extreme" speaker that lasts 2 years is not OK

Returning. I wanted to love this speaker but I was disappointed with the sound quality and volume. You have to listen to it at 3/4 volume to get any performance at all from it, even inside, and even at full volume it’s not that loud. It’s just ok, definitely not what I was expecting at this price point. I have smaller (much cheaper) BT speakers that can perform almost as well, and similar priced BT speakers that have better sound quality. I thought this speaker would be a good mix of both quality and volume, but it’s not. At full volume it’s ok, but obviously the battery life is then diminished, which was another factor for me.

And because the Li-battery is poisonous when burned, we can’t take anything from inside the tent, even the sleep bag in the opposite conner is not burned. The total loss may be worth a few thousand dollars, but I think this is maybe the best way if the speaker must be burned, nobody was injured, my car was not involved, and I can’t image if the fire happened at my home during the sleeping time.Anyway, a big size speaker is not a good idea, I will never buy it again.

Good Speaker When Working, Bad Customer Support

For Christmas 2021, we purchased an Xtreme3 speaker for our family with the intend to use it in a hockey locker room for my son’s team. The speaker was primarily used on Saturday/Sundays during the winter months and a small amount in the spring and summer. We called in December of 2022 about a charging issue and was told that it was fully charged and there was nothing to worry about. When plugging in the speaker last night, we found that it was not charging and it was blinking red. After trouble shooting, checking outlets/connections, other chargers, cleaning ports, and doing a factory reset we were still unsuccessful on gaining a charge. This morning I called Customer Service, and after 55 minutes on the phone was told that they only had a 1 year warranty and it ... MoreFor Christmas 2021, we purchased an Xtreme3 speaker for our family with the intend to use it in a hockey locker room for my son’s team. They have no record of my call in December and said that they would give me 35% off a new speaker. At that point I asked to speak to a manager, and after waiting for 30+ minutes I was told that the best they could do was send me an email by the end of the day. We also have 4 Flip5’s and other JBL’s in our house and expected a better response when you spend $379 on a speaker.

Grear speaker. I've had many speakers, including many from ,_| B |_, and this is definitely a new favorite. The Xtreme 2 was too heavy to carry for me, and this is light enough as it lost about a pound of weight and kept the same battery life which is great. I'm impressed by the mids, the vocal frequency is better than the earlier versions. The bluetooth clarity or tweeters and tuning are better because the clarity in the highs or treble, is much better than others out there. I'm 25 and have hearing that reaches over 17,000 htz, it's nice to actually be able to use it, unlike other speakers that claim to go into the 20k hertz and never reached it.The elephant in the room you can hear rumbling in the background is the bass. I didn't like the Xtreme 1 because of the lack of clean bass notes, and although I never experienced the Xtreme 2 I thought it wasn't quite ready, but the 3, is very nice. The bass actually has a great kick and nice extension to 42 htz, with some reaction all the way down to 36 htz you can hear in a small bathroom. The mid bass performance from 58-80 htz is fantastic, and what it was tuned for. The upper bass is clean and doesn't interfere with the mids. Because of this, the speaker, for the first time in the Xtreme lineup, can play all music genres at any volume.I am impressed with the full range of genres this speaker can play. Although it performs well, the bass doesn't overpower genres like rock, classical, jazz, folk, etc., and artists like Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley, and similar stuff sounds great. And because of the bass, it wubs, something not many speakers this size can pull off, especially when handicapped by passive radiators instead of using ports. (Ported speakers are inefficient and never water resistant nor waterproof)This water resistance is important where I work is very dusty and I have to rinse my speaker in water to clean it.The battery life is much better than expected, I get 18-24 hours of use with bassy music at half volume. The JBL design in the front is a very improved heat-synch. Much better than the small JBL before, and probably helps in hot weather. The price is good because it makes it available more often than if it was under priced.

I bought this and a Charge 4 2 weeks ago with the intent on experiencing them first hand after watching hours of online content. They do sound amazing and seem well built. These are replacements for Bose portable speakers and i was surprised to find that both JBLs were superior in every way to the Bose although the Bose is about 3 years old.JBL needs to take care of some app issues. The functions promised by the app are one of the biggest reasons for deciding on JBL and I feel as though it falls short, way short. Like a group of kids created it for an IT project in their senior year.Getting the two connected together has turned out to be a crap shoot by using the app. When ive invested 12 minutes of life with them resetting and reloading the app and they work ... MoreI bought this and a Charge 4 2 weeks ago with the intent on experiencing them first hand after watching hours of online content. They do sound amazing and seem well built. Like a group of kids created it for an IT project in their senior year.Getting the two connected together has turned out to be a crap shoot by using the app. When ive invested 12 minutes of life with them resetting and reloading the app and they work they are wonderful.Fortunately my phone will play two speaker devices without their app so most of the time i close the app and play them via the ultra 21 however two is all that it will play. Our plans were actually to buy two more pair totaling 6 of these for a RV retrofit we are working on but after the poor app and connectivity issues we are looking at different options. Perhaps if i were connecting an extreme to another extreme it would be flawless but technically i should be able to connect 3 charge 4s and 3 extremes. That is not the case so the PB310 we were planning on using for the subs in the RV is out of the question. Maybe future upgrades to the app will correct the issues but the speakers do sound great by themselves.JBL... How many apps do you need anyway? Connect, portable, partyboost and thats three without looking at the play store.

Great speaker, unpolished software.

The Xtreme 3 is a great speaker. I love the ruggedness, however the achilles heel for JBL is always the software/app. It definately needs some polish. Also JBL, please consider allowing multiple stereo pairs in a Party Together session. i.e. Two Boombox 3s, and two Xtreme 3s all playing the same song from one source, but assigned as L and R speakers respectively, instead of all speakers playing L and R channels

I took advantage of Black Friday to buy a customized JBL Xtreme 3 Bluetooth speaker. Its product quality and sound quality are excellent. The customized image is very finely made, colorful and clear. They helped me create a commemorative speaker that is unique in the world and belongs to me.Its sound quality is clear and the bass is powerful, and it can perfectly present various electronic music. I hope JBL will upgrade their APP.Although this speaker still has room for improvement, I think it is still the king of portable Bluetooth speakers of its type.

[Rewarded Review] Great Durability and Amazing Audio
9 January 2021

The JBL Xtreme 3 has great sound quality, amazing Durability, and is an overall amazing speaker. To get straight to the point of this review, I'd like to say that for those who are accustomed to the JBL lineup, this speaker follows in the footsteps of previously generations. What I mean by that is while it still excels in key categories that previous generations have, it also lacks in key categories like previous generations have! For it's strengths, the Xtreme 3 has loud, detailed, and bassy sound quality as to be expected from JBL. It also features a gorgeous new design, a more user friendly waterproofing seal, and finally a USB-C charging port! For it's strengths, the Xtreme 3 has loud, detailed, and bassy sound quality as to be expected from JBL. It also features a gorgeous new design, a more user friendly waterproofing seal, and finally a USB-C charging port! Those are all great features but JBL still lacks on some new technological advancements. One of those being the charging output of the speaker is limited to 10w USB charging and 7.5w USB-C charging. For most people, this wouldn't affect their decision but as someone who has a phone capable of being charged at 45w, the 7.5w charging is miniscule. Another downfall of JBL's lineup is the lack of the “previous track” button combo. This feature has been missing on JBL's bluetooth speakers since the very beginning but it becomes evermore frustrating after every generation that goes by. To top this off, JBL comes out with a new pairing mode to connect with other JBL speakers almost every generation that lacks backwards compatibility! I have purchased generations of JBL's lineup and it's frustrating that I can't connect my new Xtreme 3 to my original JBL BoomBox, my Charge 4, my Flip 4, or my original Xtreme. This is the main contributing factor of why I no longer purchase bluetooth speakers and why I've transitioned almost exclusively to smart speakers! Most (if not all) Google Assistant powered smart speakers offer the backwards compatible connecting feature that JBL lacks. In my best advice, if you don't need your speaker to be portable; please look at smart speaker lineups first. They will do you well in the long run!
