The shake grip coating didnât do much good for me (must have odd ear shape?). Likely related to the poor fit; I couldnât get past the bone conduction sound unbearable. This is the biggest issue I had with their older âactiveâ models that sounded fantastic, but heavily relied on using a tight cushion fit to stay in place. The ShakeGrip coating solves that problem with a subtle coating that somehow comfortably grips your inner ears. I donât know if itâs a change in the tip or body material, but it works great at keeping the ear bud in place without needing to change the low profile shape that Jabraâs traditionally come in. I can actually run and be aggressive in these, and it even passes my headbanging head shake test! Big ups to Jabra for recognizing and fixing an issue while keeping it low profile.Soundwise, you still get the great Jabra sound, but youâll need to manipulate it with the EQ as itâs flat out of the box. I was actually a bit disappointed when I first put them on, but after adjusting the EQ and using the Jabra tuning program in their app, I got it to offer that excellent âJabra soundâ that Iâve become accustomed to. It doesnât sound as ânaturalâ as the 75t Active, but itâs not far off, providing clean vocals with good bass response. What sets the Jabra headphones apart though is their Sound+ app, which is the most useful app Iâve ever experienced from a headphone company. The Sound+ app lets you adjust and save EQ settings, adjust the âhear throughâ and ânoise cancellingâ mix, custom program device controls, and even includes sound frequency tests to tailor the sound specifically to your ears. This not only helps prevent hearing loss, but also provides a superior audio experience as well. Jabraâs âhear throughâ mode is notably the best Iâve heard of any other brand. It does a great job of passing through most sounds and actually lets you listen to things around you without being totally drowned out by the music mix. Itâs how ANC âhear throughâ or âpass throughâ modes should work, but Jabra seems to do it better than most. Not everything is an improvement though, but at least one is fixable with a firmware update. I prefer the other case design where the door is higher up and easier to flip open than this one which is right down the middle. Sometimes I have trouble opening the door unless I really grip it, vs the other design where I can flip it open with one finger. Itâs a small thing and not at all a deal breaker, just something I immediately noticed. The other thing, which a software update can fix, is that when playing media and switching between noise cancelling modes, the sound cuts out and offers some static for about 1 second before coming back on. This only happens while media is playing and isnât a big problem, but itâs something that doesnât happen with other Jabra ANC headphones Iâve used and I hope it gets fixed here.Overall, the Jabra Elite 7 Active are excellent in-ear headphones and a solid choice if you like Jabra ear buds that will actually stay in your ear. The ShakeGrip technology works and you get that outstanding Jabra sound quality and âhear throughâ mode. Much like the 75t Active model, these are the most practical headphones Iâve used and confidently staying in my ears makes the Elite 7 Active even better in that regard. With 8 hours of charge time, 30 hours of recharge in the case, IP57 water rating, a useful app, and a fantastic microphone for phone calls, I highly recommend these earbuds.

Given the chance to drive a new pair of headphones from a major player, it's hard not to say no, and so I got these. First thing to note is the colour. It's not just your ordinary black, but a real smooth Matt black, that just really oozes quality . As is there norm with these, they come in a smart caddy that doubles as the charging pod, which in itself is charged via the USB-C connector included. There is also a choice of bud covers to ensure they fit perfectly. So the first difference I noted was that the app that you need to download to get the most of of these, attempts to adjust them to your real hearing range, which in my honest opinion is something that others could really think of doing as well. Once this has been done, you can then tune the equaliser to various presets or tinker with it yourself to get the right soundscape. So with that in mind, off I went, to give them a thorough road test, and was really surprised. So the first thing I get to mention are the physical buttons on the headphones rather than the touch sensitive controls that most of these buds have. These do give a good real world feel BUT they also make it difficult to differentiate between a short click and long click that you have to use for the controls. It does take some getting used to, but i reckon in the long run it will make life easier, as it is a definite âclickâ rather than an accidental touch, but only time will tell. Also, I soon found out that the smooth surface of the headphones make it difficult sometimes to get the headphones out of the charging case, and i think a slight modification to the design of a ridged feel to the body of the headphones would have made life easier, especially if your trying to get them out in the gym ( you know what I mean!!).Using them for a prolonged period of time I didn't notice any irritation from them but I did at first, constantly feel like they were going to fall out, until I changed the bud cover and hey presto, not a chance of them moving, even in a rigorous gym session. The battery life was tremendous, having got a good 6 hours out of one charge of the headphones straight out of the charging box, with still some juice left in the box.As for the actual sound quality of them, I can honestly say that they are definitely up there with the more expensive brands, as I played a really eclectic selection of music whilst using them in the gym and also sat at my desk, and there is real depth and clarity too them. Also, I got chance to use the ANC feature on the train and this really does make a difference to the background noise you can or canât hear!.So all in all, a great set of headphones that have now become my go to default setâŠThey would be even better if the price was a bit more reasonable!
I am a 40 yr old female and wanted to use the Jabra Elite 7 Active earbuds for running. Most runs are on a treadmill, 5 miles or less, at 6.5-7 mph. These earbuds donât stay in the ear while running or once I began sweating. After 1 mile, they kept loosening or completely falling out. The larger ear tips are too big and the smaller ones are too small. The buds are nice looking; but, they are large, heavy and you have to push the earbud hard to change the volume, answer a call, etc; which dislodges the earbud and shoves it deep into the ear. I could hear a weird, annoying background static that increased in volume each time my feet hit the treadmill. In addition, the music sounded hallow. The hear-through aspect increases the volume of external noise so much more than the TV/music volume that I couldnât hear the show I was watching; even with a volume increase. Before use, I downloaded the app and performed the instructions that test the tip fit and adjust sound quality for ear sensitivity. The earbuds would work fine, and be comfortable enough, for making phone calls and listening to music; but, they are not good for exercising.
I was looking at some earbuds online to replace my old google pixelbuds as the earphones themselves stopped holding charge and would power off completely after about 8 minutes. After some searching, I found these on Amazon, and took a look at their reviews there and looked at some videos about them on YouTube which made me want to buy them because of all of their positive reviews, however, I was kind of skeptical because I was worried they might not sound as good as my pixelbuds until I found out you can tweak the sound in the app. I saw they are available at a store near me, so I went and got them at the last minute. They were pretty easy to set up, but some people may find it tricky to get the EQ just right for their ears on them as it took me a while to get them to sound how I need. After I found the sweet spot, I can honestly say that these sound better than every other Bluetooth earbuds Iâve ever had. Iâve had AirPods, Beats, and of course the pixelbuds before, and these are by far the best. The noise cancel feature works really well, and is noticeable especially in noisy environments. The hear through feature is my most favorite. You can set the headphones up so that they can sound the best for you in the âmy soundâ menu, which would ask you to do a hearing test so that the app would know how to setup your headphones for you. Iâm conclusion, these are worth the money especially if you are looking for earbuds with app control that would have a long battery life and good sound quality
I've owned a pair of these for 6 months and as time goes, the more flaws I discover.Initially I was impressed by the quality of sound, and to this day, I do enjoy the options to "hear through" or "noise cancelling" however, these do not work well for phone calls at all and you're better off using speaker phone. I have found that if you carry the case in your pocket the audio will cut/skip from time to time (but more often than I'd like) and if you open the case without intentions of using them (fidgeting) it'll connect to your phone and will not disconnect unless you turn off your Bluetooth.Over the last month, I've noticed the battery charge has become a problem; either the app will tell me the earbuds are low battery and in need of a recharge despite just being ... MoreI've owned a pair of these for 6 months and as time goes, the more flaws I discover.Initially I was impressed by the quality of sound, and to this day, I do enjoy the options to "hear through" or "noise cancelling" however, these do not work well for phone calls at all and you're better off using speaker phone. However, when I leave the house, about the time I lose bluetooth connectivity to my phone (which I don't take on runs), the reception to my watch becomes intermittent. Sometimes only in 1 bud, sometimes in both. Sometimes it comes back right away, sometimes it takes great deal of fiddling, and occasionally doesn't come back at all without putting back in the case. Very frustrating. No idea if this is a firmware issue or hardware issue. It's also possible its specific to Garmin. No idea. I've not tested beyond my own use case. Conclusion: I've not made a final decision about returning them or not. I DO like them, and I tend to find the flaws in every tech I ever buy, and tend to just live with it instead of looking for perfection. But... forewarned is forearmed, etc.
