I had bought this when it was on discount and also because I've used the 65t's before and they were starting to show its age. As usual the sound quality is very good and although I've heard the ANC is not the best I thought I might try it out since it's my first time with earbuds. Surprisingly it's actually alright definitely not great but it's very good for the price with proper consistency. The hearthrough feature is good as well no complaints. The only issue some people might find (if you've used jabra earbuds before you'll know already) is that the earbuds aren't immediately comfortable in your ears and sometimes it feels like it's falling out but it is properly in. I went for the gold beige colour way this time around and it definitely gives them a more premium look and sets them apart vs the sea of generic black earbuds in the market. The colour is very much a pastely/nudey colour that looks like it could have been designed by Kim Kardashian or Kanye.Soundwise, I'm very impressed by how balanced and crisp they are. There is some user personalisation available in the sound+ app where you can input custom EQ settings, I just used the preloaded "bass boost" and found it suitable for my usual mix of rock/metal. It satisfyingly boosted the bass without overpowering the mix and losing definition in the mid range. A major benefit vs my older 75ts is that you can finally use just one earbud! Finally! Simply put one of your earbuds back into the case (L or R, doesn't matter which) and keep the other in your ear. This is really handy when you want to listen to music but also need to be aware of what's going on around you. Battery life is better on the Elite 5's with 7 hours off a full charge (ANC on) vs the 75ts 5.5. The charge case also provides more power on this model, extending battery life to between 28-36 hours vs 24 on the older 75t.Another really handy quality of life update is the ability to wirelessly charge the case, which means I can pop my phone and headphones on my nightstand to charge wirelessly overnight and guarantee I'll always have a fully charged set of headphones!

These are exceptional sound devices. Bluetooth is flawless. In ear fitment is contoured and crafted, which gives a very comfortable and secure fit. Button selection on left and right is intuitive and very functional and practical. Sound quality is very good. The App allows for customisation. The case is also a charging station. It is very slimline, just as the ear buds are. Overall these sound devices are superb and Jabra as a company have a good ethos and committed to producing quality products, which is true for these. The ANC is awesome, one click and it's selected, which makes it a much better listening experience at lower volumes. If you want quality sound, exceptional engineering fitment and quality materials, then you can't go past these for the price.

I got these as I have been using a pair of Sony XM3 in ears, which while great are quite chonky. The Jabra Elite 5's boast a much smaller form factor, which once you have chosen from the included tips fit me really well. I have been using these as my daily drivers for a few weeks now and I have found that they stay in my ears well, their fantastic shape means that they don't come loose while I am walking and moving about in general, I have even found that they stay in my ears well when I go running, although I am always paranoid they will fall out, but so far I have found myself readjusting very infrequently.I have been using these on an iPhone XR and found the app to set them up worked well. Once downloaded and opened, just open the case for the earphones and within a short time they are paired. You then go through the personalisation process, which is easy to follow and allows you to configure the earphones to your liking. I found the adjustment for the Active Noise Cancellation did not have a massive effect, but was noticeable. The feature to find the headphones if lost is good in broad terms, it remembers where the case was last opened, this is good, but would benefit from being more accurate.Sound quality is very good, and the ANC does not seem to be good, until I saw my next door neighbour cutting their grass, but I had not heard the lawnmower!! The ANC seems to cut out some frequencies really well, but I can still hear traffic and people speaking, but it is greatly reduced.I have made some phone calls and the microphones do an excellent job of isolating my voice to the point that the person on the other end did not realise I was not on my phone directly, I used it while out walking my dogs to free up my hands, and it was a fantastic experience! If I had come into these from anything but the Sonys I would have been really impressed, as they stand, they are some excellent earphones, with very good sound quality, and excellent fit and a fantastic small form factor for both the earphones and their case. The Sonys however have better sound quality and better noise cancelling, as well as more options for the buttons on the earphones.Cons: No ability to change the volume on the earphones, this is something I find to be a deal breaker for me and stops me from buying a pair of headphones or earphones. Sound quality and ANC is a bit lacking compared to the XM3Pros: Battery life, form factor, fit, QI wireless charging, handy app, find my function. In short, yes I would recommend them, but for the price I would pick up a pair of Sony XM3.

Great Ear Buds
22 October 2022

First impressions of the item was a good solid case which felt good in the hand and made a reassuring snap when closing. The buds themselves look neat and fit snuggly in my ear and the sound was crisper and deeper than I had known with my previous buds and cabled headphones. The buttons were very responsive in turning the ANC off or pausing music to speak to someone and turning back on in an instant. Battery life was also impressive after use all day in the way to the office, in the office itself for most of the day and back on the train, there was plenty of charge for another few hours of use. I wanted to try the ANC and had ample opportunity while in the office, mowing the lawn, on the train and on a plane, in each the background noise was not eliminated but ... MoreFirst impressions of the item was a good solid case which felt good in the hand and made a reassuring snap when closing. I wanted to try the ANC and had ample opportunity while in the office, mowing the lawn, on the train and on a plane, in each the background noise was not eliminated but blocked to such an extent that it became irrelevant. The sound was also on a better than I had been used to allowing a sharper, deeper sound and more levels to music that were never clear before. The app has multiple useful features from changing the sound equaliser to setting different functions for the bud buttons. Very clear and easy to use. The Bluetooth connection has been fantastic allowing me to leave my phone in one room in the house while running upstairs and not dropping at all which was a problem with buds I had before, even going out to the garden had no drop in quality. I have only made a couple of calls and indoors the sound was clear for me and the caller but outdoors it wasn't so clear for the person I was speaking to but this may have been due to wind noise.. Overall, I am very happy with the buds and would recommend to others.

Upon opening the app allow took me through a quick tutorial pointing out all the various features. Was easy to set my desired EQ and also great it came bundled with various soundscapes which I did actually use whilst I was working, especially the thunderstorm mode. Give that person a raise who came up with the soundscapes feature! Enabling the ANC/Hearthrough features was easy enough I could change the button functions around to my liking. The only thing I didnt like was that I couldnt change the software to not stop playing music when I took only one bud out.General : I gave the earbuds a 12 hour run in test first to ensure they were warmed up and I was pleasantly surprised with their quality especially the neutrality of the sound as I didn't need to make any adjustments in the EQ. Jabra are to be commended on this as some manufactures require some tweaking. I was listening to a range of music from Rap, symphonic metal, experimental folk music, EDM and synthwave and they all sound great.I used the largest of the three sets of eargels and they fit really nicely. So much so I could actually use them down the gym without them constantly falling out. The design of the earbud itself allowed me to comfortably insert it into my ear and parts of it rested on the upper part of my lobe making it feel very secure.Charging time and battery life was good. I always had the ANC/hearthrough features turned off as I found with the eargels I didn't need them when at home. I did try the ANC when I was working out at the gym and it kept out some of the droning noises but reduce conversational noise from other gym

Great set of mid range buds!
17 October 2022

The wireless earbud market is very busy, with plenty of manufacturers vying for a piece of the pie. Jabra established themselves early on with solid set of earbuds worthy of consideration. The Elite 5 earbuds are a solid mid range set, which sit below the top Elite 7 and above the more budget focussed Elite 4 and 3 models. The first thing I noticed with the Elite 5s were the reduced packaging. Everything seems to be using recycled materials and also seem to be fully recyclable as well. The case itself is similar in style to Jabra's previous headphones. It's taller and thinner than other manufacturer's offerings, which fits well in a pocket. The case also has wireless charging which is always handy to allow you to drop them on a pad to top up the charge. The buds are pretty light so sit in the ear well. I also welcome the use of physical buttons on the earbuds. Touch sensitive buttons found on other headphones I find much easier to accidentally tap when adjusting the headphones in your ears. They are also much better when out a run and wanting to skip songs; the physical buttons give much better haptic feedback on your fingers allowing you to control the headphones much easier when working out.Connecting to my phone was seamless, connecting right away through the Bluetooth menu on my phone. Also installing the Jabra+ app allowed for fine tuning of the EQ of the headphones which is always welcome. Sound quality was pretty much exactly what I was expecting for headphones around this RRP. Bass wasn't too overpowering common on cheaper earbuds. The noise cancellation tech was also as expected for a product of this nature - it didn't completely obliterate all outside noise as well as over ear headphones can (I tested it mostly in a fairly busy office), but it did a great job for the product category. One issue I did encounter, was when using for an extended time, the left earbud's ANC tended to go a bit nuts and I had to put the earbuds back in the case to "reset" them. Not sure if this was a fault or something that can be fixed with a future software update.Overall these are a great set of earbuds, worthy of the Jabra name and building on their already long (in relative terms) pedigree in the wireless earbud market.

I'm happy with my Jabra 5s

I was super excited to receive my Jabra Elite 5 earbuds. The conscientious packaging was well thought-out, but I was a little disappointed to get no paper instructions when 3 booklets for Safety Information and Warranty were provided.Nevertheless, there was a note on the box to download the relevant app. Despite having issues with downloading the instructions on the app also, the app is pretty amazing. I liked having an option to reprogram the buttons to change functions, but I found the preset ones to be intuitive and so I stuck with those. Later on too, reconnecting was equally impressive.Though I was happy with the medium-sized buds that come as standard, I decided to try the supplied smaller and larger sizes too. I found it a little tricky to change them at first, especially as I had no instructions, but once I'd got the hang of it, it wasn't too difficult. Now, when I was listening to the TV the overall sound quality was quite good, but I found the quality of the noise-cancelling to be lacking. I could still hear my neighbor playing the piano, even though I had my TV volume turned up higher than normal.Charging time is excellent and I just love how the earbuds magnetically go to the correct position for charging.Overall, I am happy with my Jabra Elite 5 earbuds, and I'd have no objection in recommending them to friends and family.

However, the approach that has been taken with the Jabra Elite 5 is to show its sustainability chops through the packaging choices. As the images show nearly every single piece of packaging provided is either recyclable or biodegradable, which was a very good start for my liking The wireless earbuds themselves are in a simple black case which is slim and can easily fit in a jean pocket or small bag with ease. Inside the box was the case and inside it the wireless earbuds. You also had additional ear tips of different sizes so you could find your correct fit and a short USB-c cable for charging the case. The only other content is a piece of cardboard with instructions on how to set up the Jabra Elite 5 and a safety and warranty booklet, that's it!Feel and Set Up:If you're coming to the Jabra Elite 5 from any number of wireless competitors, then you know the key thing with any device is the setup. That starts with choosing the correct ear tips to fit your ears. That coincidently is when you get the first chance to feel the quality of the product. You can feel the quality of the build from the moment you pop them in your ears. If like me, your journey started at the far cheaper end of the wireless earbud market way back when, as mine did. Then you will appreciate the quality of the manufacturing process, which has left tight seams and no sharp elements. The case is matt and although doesn't look particularly special, it felt nice to touch. I think over time it might be likely to pick up grease finger marks, but it hasn't so far with me. Next was to connect the device to my phone. I have the flagship android device from a certain Japanese manufacturer and to pair and connect the two was an absolute doddle after downloading and installing the Sound+ app.In use in and outdoors:After setup on my phone, I also decided to connect the Jabra Elite 5 to my windows laptop. This meant my very first use was a Teams call and I have to say all the participants were audibly very clear. Their voices were nice and bright and the microphone was also very good, I was pleasantly surprised. I love listening to my podcasts and spend many hours a day listening on walks and commuting, so I knew the true test of the Jabra Elite 5 would be when out and about walking along busy A roads. I had a mixture of voice and music podcasts, and I had the anti-noise cancellation (ANC) both on and off. With speech, you can use the equaliser in the app to make changes to the sound output and I could really tell the difference when cycling through the prefixed settings. You can even create your own settings. Speech was clear, the ANC worked incredibly well and I think most users will prefer it on rather than off in daily use, it just cocoons you from the outside world without entirely blocking it out. I did use passthrough and it too works well. When it came to music, it is all about what you like to listen to. Few wireless earbuds can generate deep base and good mids but these are admirable in the way they go about it. I would say if your music were more melodic than bass-heavy, they will suit you but for bassheads, they will find the Jabra Elite 5 just that bit lacking for their needs. I didn't consider the battery time, but they seem to want to last 5+hours easily with ANC, which is about right for wireless earbuds with ANC. I am sure a lot more without ANC use. One thing I did detect in use was that I did get some interference when using, it wasn't frequently but on 2 or 3 occasions in all the time I have been using them. Now, I couldn't tell if that was due to being nin busy built-up areas or if it was the way O placed my phone when using it. I just thought I'd mention that.,Conclusion:To conclude, there is so much to like about the Jabra Elite 5, they fall into the premium category by dint of pricing, but they aren't in that top quality bracket as they aren't showy enough. But the packaging is sustainable and recyclable a lot can be said for that. The setup is simple and easy for any device you want to connect to, be that with or without the app. The quality of the sound is great for calls and meetings, with good noise cancellation. If you are into voice podcasts then you'll really like the sound, but for music lovers, if it's a more technical sound you are after, then you'll get on just fine but bassheads, you'll feel something is missing. If I were scoring with stars, the Jabra Elite 5 would get a solid 4 out of 5 for me.

Sound Worthy and Sleek

My initial reaction to the earphones shouted luxury and well packaged. Easy to open the packaging - didn't fee like i was ripping through it. The case was long line and not chunky which added to overall look of the earphones and easy storage when your out and about. Super comfortable in your ear and initially when i put it in it instructed me to connect to bluetooth - which was a quick and easy process with no issues and the first set of wireless earphones i have come across to do this! Also comes with an app to personalise your sound experience which got a 10/10 from me. Went through a small series of questions to test my ear/sound strength and preference to enhance my sound experience and it also had an equaliser which again i have not seen before, this was great ... MoreMy initial reaction to the earphones shouted luxury and well packaged. Also comes with an app to personalise your sound experience which got a 10/10 from me. Went through a small series of questions to test my ear/sound strength and preference to enhance my sound experience and it also had an equaliser which again i have not seen before, this was great as i listen to a variety music, whether i'm working out and listen to upbeat music or relaxing and having the EQ made that difference. It also has shortcuts which you press on your earphones - i.e. press once right earphone plays - press once left earphone ANC or Hearthrough. It gave me the opportunity to set this up to my preference making it more personal to me, and that Jabra thinks about their customers. I tested out ANC ad Hear through on a busy main road and wow what a difference! Having ANC on blocked out a lot of the outer noises but for safety reasons whilst i am on my walks i use Hear through which made sure i was aware of my surroundings. Using ANC at home was great to block out external noise and abling me to relax without any distractions especially when i'm cleaning the house too ( with no issues of the earphones falling out) The volume isn't as loud as other earphones but still very loud enough to hear in noisy environments, this meant that i was still protecting my ears and able to enjoy the music. I also use it to whilst watching videos and podcasts and again the sound quality can't be faulted - again adjusting the EQ to my preference. The battery life is good and it's always helpful that my phone shows how much battery is remaining. The USB C charger is always a winner, this means i don't need to have multiple chargers, making charging easy. Overall i'd highly recommend the product to others and recommend for gifting too. The sound quality and over look is sleek and worthwhile the purchase. The only thing i struggled with initially was placing the earphone back into the case but now have the hang of it - my husband found it easy so it was definitely a me thing!
