Black/white houndstooth pattern chair looks good until the high-touch areas like armrests started turning yellow from sweat probably. When trying to clean the black dye smears over the white and makes it look much worse. It's a piece of furniture that should be cleaned if necessary. Definitely don't get it if you have kids or pets. Because once it gets dirty the only solution is to toss it out and then what? Get a new one from IKEA? I guess that's their business model.

I love this chair. I purchased the cotton ‘houndstooth’ printed version. A nod to history without being stuffy … is the look I go for! A friend helped me assemble it, which was pretty easy. Hoping the footstool will be back in stock soon?

It looks amazing, the quality is fantastic and it's comfortable but it took me over 3 hours to assemble, make sure you have your own screwdriver as one is needed and is not included, the sides are extremely difficult to attach, you'll need a torch and the camera in your phone as you can't see to get the holes lined up plus trying to put the screws in is just going against gravity which is extremely frustrating but it's built now and I love it, I got the footstool too, it took 5 min to build. I thought it opened up for storage but it doesn't, it's unusual for IKEA to waste space like that.
I’ve put together other IKEA items. I’ve put together other brands’ furniture pieces. Attaching the wings/sides of the chair is seemingly next to impossible. You’ll have it lined up perfectly you think only to find out it’s still not centered correctly. I bought this a while back and tried putting it together to no avail after about an hour of working (if it would be put together flawlessly, you’d probably spend more time breaking down the boxes) before giving up. I’m on another half hour right now with zero headway pondering chucking it in a dumpster (a bit of hyperbole…I think). Just look up “Strandmon putting together issues” and look at the comments on the video.
My husband is very tall so he has a hard time finding chairs that don't hurt his neck or back. This chair is exactly as shown. The fabric is durable and lovely. It looks traditional in the picture but we have an eclectic style and it fit right in. I will probably get another one next time I visit because its comfortable for short peeps too.
This is the second time I bought this chair. Bought it, returned it, and two years later rebought this chair. I love how comfortable it is. The high back and seat fits my frame perfectly. Most everyday, I comment on how comfortable this is. I do have the footstool to match and it feels like a recliner when I put my feet up.
Picked up this chair today and my hubs and I built this in about 20 minutes! Easy peasy. Love how relaxing this chair is as the back legs are slightly lower than the front. Got it in the houndstooth and I absolutely love it.
The houndstooth fabric looks and feels great. Comfortable chair. My go to chair when I want to read for a couple of hours.Easy to assemble.
i waited over a year for this chair to be back in stock and i love it, for the look, and the comfort, but every time you brush by it, the black dye smudges, if you rest your arms on the rests, they smudge. it's such a massive disappointment! the chair (and the footstool that i bought a few months after the chair, it took longer to be back in stock) look filthy! we've barely used them due to the dye transfer to our clothes. basically our cat uses it, that's it.
