I love the handle on the standard flex cap! M bought my daughter her first hydraflask and an extra flex cap and she uses this thing for the last two years daily. It’s really lasted and the flex cap handle fits her hands perfectly. We love hydra flask!

The problem with this lid is that it made the drink taste gross after awhile. It also took to long to screw on and off. It was a hastle. You need to screw it on very tightly so your drink stays cold. This can make it difficult to unscrew.

There is nothing wrong with the cap itself I just find it is a little awkward to drink from the jug because it’s a little bigger and especially on the bigger one. But this lid has a great seal and the handle is super comfortable/convenient! So if you don’t mind not have a straw this is for you!

This cap works perfectly with the water bottle. I have also used the pull-to-open Sport Cap, which is excellent during workouts but sometimes leaks into my bag. With the Flex Cap I have had no problems with leaking, though it is less convenient during running workouts - have to stop completely in order to drink without spilling.I recommend that if you are carrying your water bottle in your bag, you have this Flex Cap. If you plan to use the water bottle in motion (e.g. during a run), you also have the Sport Cap and switch it out during that time.
I took a chance that this cap would fit on my water bottle. It turns out it is a universal replacement for a water bottle like mine. As long as it is fully tightened it works like a charm. If you don't tighten it, you risk your phone, or anything you are carrying in the same bag, tote, or lunchbox.
I love the conveinance of having my drinks staying cold in my hydroflask, but I do have an issue with this particular cap. The cap is great but it makes loud squeaking noises when opening and closing which I assumed was from the wet black rubber ring at the top. I took it out and it stopped squeaking but I left it in because I noticed that when I flipped the bottle water leaked out. Is there anyway to stop the squeaking noises when opening and closing my hydroflask?
I really like this lid/strap for general use - at the gym, park, backyard, beach. Specifically, I like that the handle can be tucked down or lifted up. However, I would like a rigid lid option in addition to this one. When I kayak, I need to be able to clip the lid with a carabiner, and the soft strap would easily shred. I don't want to use the sport cap while kayaking, as it has no cover for the part that goes in the mouth. (who knows what's in the water???) I don't want to see this lid option go away, just a new one added... please! Love Hydro Flask!
The rivets aren't set in the plastic very well, so they can be easily torn out. Especially since it's usually necessary to use them for leverage when opening the cap, this is a pretty big flaw. It's really odd that this happened, as my other hydro flask with a much older cap has never had this problem at all.The sealing of the cap is great, but the fact that it is so flimsy is a huge drawback. You're probably better off getting the caps that are just a hard plastic, static loop just so you don't have to deal with the potentially of the loop breaking.
While the bottle is great, the sport cap is hard to push in and pull out. My daughter had it leak all over her backpack despite banging the heel of her hand on the cap to close. The standard cap is a pain to use. It would be good if Hydro Flask were to make a straw cap for the standard mouth bottle that is reliable and not rely on third party companies to develop these (those are not any good either). And while the large bottle is fine, it is not something you want to lug around while you are working out.
Unfortunately it had to be returned. I have other Hydro Flask products (wide mouth)which I really like. In this case I was trying to make the regular cap fit on another brand & it did not work.So I will replace my old bottle with a new Hydro Flask one.
