This HP EliteBook 840 G10 is excellent. 14 " screen. Easily upgradeable and most comfortable. It is a winner. But the user manual is light on clear and detailed information. As a long term techie some difficulties were experienced with understanding the manual. The spefications are excellent guidance for both operation and upgrading. After 3 weeks I really love this laptop. Highly recommended.

I wanted to replace my fulsize desktop pc with a laptop. This exceeds my expectations. It does everything my desk system did and more!! I can still connect to my large screen monitor and stndard keyboard. The HP setup prompts were easy. It is light and portable when i travel. Retains a long fharge and links to my phone.hoyspot for true mobile wifi connectivity. Very happy!

This laptop is blazing fast, slim, and exactly what I need. When I first saw the keyboard, I was extremely worried about the location of the power button - I figured I would hit it at least once per hour. Thankfully, just accidentally pressing it doesn't power-down the computer of put it to sleep, so it's not a big deal. One thing I do miss, though, is the grouping of arrow keys, home, end, page up, and page down keys on the far right. I am still getting used to the new locations of these buttons.

Had issues from the get go. After setting it up, realized it would turn off after about 1 hour of continuous use (basic Microsoft software use). Ran regular and advanced diagnostics (likely the battery) but could not get technical support as hp did not recognize the serial number on the machine (and it was bought directly from hp). Wasted a lot of time trying to get if fixed only to have to return it. Waiting for a new machine to see if this was a one off or not.
I have not and will not use this computer, even after all the money I have spent. I am an AS/400 programmer an need the "pg up and pg dn" on the right side of the keyboard, for programming. I have always bought HP Laptops and the Online salesperson said that these keys were in the same position as my current Elitebook 840 G8. NOT TRUE,
After working on Dell for years and troubleshooting the BLUE Screen issue, I switched to the HP. The laptop works smooth like a butter and goes along with the personality. Highly recommend for the home office work and remote work, presentations. It has the speed, multiple sound switch over Bluetooth. Easy connect. Awesome experience and highly recommended.
This seem to be a very laptop. I didn't get a chance to use it. I set it up for facial recognition. I stepped away for a few minutes and when I returned I had to log in. It was asking for a password instead of facial recognition. It did not recognize my password and it didn't have a link that said forgot password. There wasn't another option to sign in. I called HP customer service and they tried to assist but that didn't workout. One suggested that I do a factory recovery or call Microsoft. The next representative sent a USB recovery drive. They sent the wrong drive. So unfortunately I had to return the laptop. The screen was smaller than I anticipated. That was my fault. Customer service were easy to reach and they tried to resolved the problem. I spent too much ... MoreThis seem to be a very laptop. I didn't get a chance to use it. I bought this to replace a Thinkpad that died a couple weeks out of warranty. I heard good things about the EliteBook product line as a good alternative business laptop vs. Thinkpad (and my annoyance at Lenovo wrt. warranty). So far, this EliteBook is ok. The compute performance is fine. The computer is kind of heavy for its size. There are unresolved driver bugs (AMD graphics) that cause rendering issues in MS office and other technical software I use.The keyboard layout is stupid and annoying. The arrow keys are half size, and page up/down fill up the other half space. So when I'm just trying to edit text, I end up jumping all over the page. The fn and ctrl keys are next to each other, so I frequently get the wrong behavior on those. The battery life is ... MoreI bought this to replace a Thinkpad that died a couple weeks out of warranty. I would say that I get <2 hrs of life under normal usage patterns.
I am very pleasantly surprised by the EliteBook 840 G8. I bought it for a great price and am very happy with it. (Please keep in mind that the PC was release approx. 2 years ago.) It is very compact, lightweight, nearly silent, and runs well. I have owned it for three weeks. So far, it is works well for basic Office apps and internet browsing. I intend to upgrade the existing RAM and Solid State Drive (SSD). I'm upgrading not because of any problems, but because I like the PC so much. Also the PC's very reasonable price makes upgrades an easy choice. I intend to use this heavily for Adobe Photoshop. If there is one downside, it is the small screen, but I purposely bought a small device for its small profile and light weight. To offset this, I use a HP docking station and two monitors, and it works very well. I highly recommend the EliteBook 840 G8 for someone needing compact, flexible power.
I'm actually having a problem with my new Elitebook, specifically the sound quality on YouTube and Facebook videos. It sounds slightly distorted--just enough to be annoying. I took my laptop to a local tech, paid $120, and he said there's nothing wrong, just that I have low-quality speakers & some videos have crappy sound. However, my last computer is an Elitebook 840 G3 with Bang & Olufsen speakers, and when I perform a side-by-side comparison, my old computer sounds absolutely fine. I'm really bummed.
