HP 94A / CF294A Black Toner Cartridge

I ordered 2 of these toner cartridges for an HP laser printer we purchased from Staples four months prior. When I installed one of the new cartridges, the printer continued to display the low cartridge toner warning message.I contacted HP customer service not knowing if it might be the printer or the cartridge; after troubleshooting with the HP CSR on the phone, I sent them a photo of the screen showing that error message after less than 50 copies on the new cartridge. They verified that the cartridge seemed to be bad and sent a replacement which arrived in less than a week. The replacement cartridge worked fine.However, I am apprehensive about what will happen in the future when I insert the second cartridge I purchased from Staples in January. I replaced my empty HP printer cartridge with a full HP printer cartridge. Both cartridges slid in and out really well. Both cartridges print clearly for countless pages. Thank you, HP, for a quality no-nonsense printer (HP Laser Jet Pro M118dw) and equally quality no-nonsense cartridges.

I am sure this product would be perfect for the printer--However, I was lead to believe that this was needed, as only a "starter toner cartridge" was included with the HP printer-- And its cost was almost $50, which seemed pricey to me. It was only when opening the box for the new printer that it advertised that the initial toner cartridge will cover 1000 copies. My use of this printer is infrequent and I am counting on it to print well even though long periods will lapse between uses.
