A while back (before Dread was real), I was complaining about the lack of Metroid on Switch and a friend recommended Hollow Knight as a game to scratch that itch. Turns out, they were right. :-)This is the first game in a while to capture my attention. I bought it in the middle of some vacation time and spent hours playing it each day until vacation ended. The visuals are fantastic and parts of the soundtrack give me shivers. I can't recommend Hollow Knight enough.My only complaint is that I found gameplay a bit twitchy using the native controllers. Once I started using my SNES-style controller (and its d-pad instead of the joystick), things improved dramatically.If you like Metroid/Castlevania type games, buy this.

I had this game on my nintendo e-shop wish list for months, but after discovering the existence of the physical version I couldn't resist. Without doubt, one of my favourite games of all time. A vast, atmospheric, detailed world to explore. Lots of secrets, different abilities and upgrades to discover. In the wrong one, instead of that thumbnail there is an image of a fight on a bridge with bluish colors. A true masterpiece and a must play! I can't wait for the sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong.

I had heard that this game was fun so i decided to pick it up during the off-season. Um, wow. This game is not only fun, but has a fascinating story and the world has so much character. Hollow Knight is challenging at times, but never quite like Elden Ring (blessings). You have so much to explore, a plot to discover, and epic battles to conquer. And let me say the music - INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend this game to anyone. Cannot wait for the sequel.
The title says it all. If you’re a fan of the Metroid or Castlevania series then you should add this game to your library. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it’s an incredible adventure into a cutesy (and sometimes absolutely terrifying), buggy world, and is much deeper and darker than one would think at first glance.Also, the game’s devs, Team Cherry (which was mostly two devs, with Christopher Larkin making an outstanding soundtrack), have been uncharacteristically kind (for the game industry) in delivering DLC to this game. Buy the base game and ALL DLC is free. That’s right! You’re getting this game and all four action-packed DLCs for the outlandishly low price of $15.Do yourself a favor and get this game!

My son (8) purchased this game with birthday funds. He attempted to play it but found that it was too hard. It sat for two years, unplayed. PSN offered the game and I downloaded it for myself. In an attempt to bring interest back for the game he bought, I played the game. His younger brother (5) fell in love and became obsessed with the game. He wanted nothing more to play, watch, or simply talk about the game. I played the game through on the PS4 and later again on the PS5. Great metroid-vania game.
If you are looking for a good quality Metroidvania to play, then you have found one. Hollow Knight is filled with a lot of personality, and will make you want to keep exploring the depths below, even after several hours of gameplay, and you are given several different ways to do so.The only real negatives about this game, which are minor, is that there are many times where the nearest bench (in game save spot) is quite a ways away, and often in inconvenient places, and, while there are a variety of different locations, the art style makes them blend together in such a way as to make them all feel very "same-y".With everything being said, if you enjoy games such as Metroid, Castlevania, Bloodstained, you will almost certainly be sure to enjoy this.

A must have title on any platfrom. But it looks more amazing on switch given the game's platform based gameplay. The difficulty though is similar to bloodborne. Also the fact that there are no specific instructions. Even the map provided with the physical game copy, is not really that useful are readable at glance. But otherwise, this game is a classic. Eagerly waiting for the next installment of this series.
