It's been about 20 years since I last used an Herbal Essences shampoo and I remember not being a fan back in the day. The fragrances were too floral, the shampoo too runny and I recall that the shampoo didn't lather all that well. Needless to say I was curious but didn't have very high expectations when I was invited by Influenster to try the revamped shampoo for free. Right off the bat, I have to say the fragrance is exactly what I expected from an Herbal Essences shampoo. The Cucumber and Green Tea scent is actually more of an intense green floral and reminds me of another old school bath body fragrance that could be found at the supermarket and drugstore in the late '90s/early 2000s: The Healing Garden's Green Tea Therapy by Coty. It's a scent that you really have to like because it lingers in the hair for a long time. Personally, I think it's an overpowering, headache inducing scent. As for the texture and lather, I think Herbal Essences has improved on both by a mile. The texture of the gel is more viscous, less runny than back in the day and I can now get a thick, rich lather from the shampoo. Herbal Essences claims that the Cucumber and Green Tea Shampoo provides lightweight moisture and conditioning but I didn't experience that. My hair is normal but very fine and I felt that this particular shampoo actually stripped my hair, leaving it looking dry, flat and dull afterward. It made my hair literally squeaky clean and in my opinion acts more like a clarifying shampoo that I would use once every few weeks rather than an everyday (or every other day) shampoo. From fragrance to overall results, I'm still not a fan of Herbal Essences. I'm someone who only uses drugstore shampoos and personally I feel like there are a lot better shampoos out there that provide moisture, have pleasant yet less overpowering fragrances, clean well without overstripping, and leave the hair with a healthy shine and bounce.

I always enjoy trying new herbal essences products and this bottle reminds me of the old style which I much prefer! I do like that it has no paraffin or parabens because I don't like a load of product build up which happens over time with my hair and certain chemicals. It leaves the hair soft and strong and the scent is interesting, it took me a little while to enjoy as I've not smelt a scent like that but it's enjoyable. Nice product but I won't be switching over from my usual product quite yet!

I'm allergic to quite a few preservatives so I have to be really careful what I buy. For years there's been very few shampoos and conditioners that I could use. I've always been jealous of my sister's healthy hair. She has always used Herbal Essences, but I couldn't. I am so glad that I recently decided to recheck the ingredients on this range as the formulation no longer contains the preservatives I am allergic to. Now I've got gorgeous silky hair too! Thanks for updating your ingredients!

The quest for the perfect conditioner has been ongoing since my teen years and recently it came to a triumphant end! This stuff! Revitalising indeed! Used following a very basic, simple shampoo, my hair has never felt so soft, so tamed & so hydrated yet not weighted down in any way! My frizz-prone, grease-prone, seemingly untamable hair genuinely feels refreshed. My main priority above all else however, was the longevity of my hair - Will it feel greasy within 24 hours of washing? Will my itchy scalp become irritated at all within those first 24 hours? Well the answer to both of those questions is a resounding NO! Wow. The only haircare product to have ever beaten those parameters so far has been medicated tar shampoo prescribed by my GP! Never have I had such benefits from a conditioner. I'm excited to try it in conjunction with the shampoo! I think I can go as far as to say that this is revolutionary! Well done Herbal Essences!

I used many organic or expensive hair products. I decided give change to Herbal Essensces and this is so far the best product my hair and skin loves. I have dermatitis and long damaged hair, this product makes my hair very soft especially at the ends where the most damage is and makes is easier to brush my hair. On top of this,my hair doesn't get greasy/oily as often. I don't wash my hair more than twice a week due to dermatitis and this product doesn't leave any residue to cause dandruff or such.

I received this product from Influenster for free in exchange for my unbiased review. My hair is dry, prone to split ends and frizz, and I have a sensitive scalp. I have always used salon brands and in the last year or so have switched over to silicone and sulfate free hair products since those ingredients can make my scalp itchy and break out. Ingredients: I was concerned about this product when I looked at the ingredient list because the second and third ingredients are sulfates and fragrance is very high up on the list. Sulfates dry out hair so a moisturizing product shouldn't use high amounts of sulfates; also sulfates aren't color safe, yet this shampoo claims to be. I used this product only once because my scalp broke out from it.Fragrance: Oddly, this shampoo says cucumber and green tea on the front of the bottle, yet the fragrance notes are listed as water lily, amber, and green leaves (green tea leaves?). The scent is herbal and clean and I enjoy it, but I do not think it smells like cucumber or green tea. I appreciate that it isn't floral as so many shampoos are, but it is wayyyyy too overpowering. My entire bathroom smelled like a Bath and Body Works for hours. I don't mind shampoo having a fragrance, but if the scent is very strong and lingers on my hair it can give me migraines. If you want your hair to put off a scent for a few days after washing then this might be for you, but if you are sensitive to scents you might want to pass.Overall: Aside from the fragrance and sulfates (and the acne they caused), this is actually a surprisingly good shampoo. I have only used a drugstore hair product one other time and it was a big let down, but this sort of changed my mind about the potential cheap hair products can have. Before my scalp broke out, I was loving how this and the matching foam conditioner made my hair look. It made my hair soft, clean, bouncy, hydrated, and healthy. I won't be using this shampoo again because an irritated scalp isn't worth it and the sulfates and fragrance will only cause more irritation the more I use it. I will however keep using the conditioner because I have no problems with any of the ingredients and the fragrance isn't as strong. I think Herbal Essences is headed in the right direction with making inexpensive haircare silicone, paraben, and dye free and this moisturizing shampoo would be amazing and totally convert me from using expensive salon brands if they used sulfate alternative like sodium lauryl sulfoacetate and toned the fragrance down. If you have never had issues with fragrance or sulfates and have dry hair I would highly recommend this, the price is totally reasonable and makes your hair so soft and silky and moisturized without any tangling.

I received this shampoo for free as part of an Influenster VoxBox. This shampoo is one of Herbal Essences' attempts to create a more "natural" and eco-friendly product. It is supposedly "Color-safe, pH-balanced, with 0% parabens, gluten and colorants," according to the Herbal Essences website. So far the color-safe rings true, however, I am a little skeptical. I have naturally dark blond hair that has been lightened by both the sun and an unfortunate lightening attempt that originally left it a very unattractive brassy yellow, which I have since managed to turn into a silvery, icy blond via the highly concentrated Fanola No Yellow Shampoo. As most people with salon-dyed hair know, shampoos that contain sulfates tend to strip color from dyed hair. The chemical is added to increase the shampoo's foaminess, however, it simultaneously strips color molecules from hair. In this shampoo, sulfates are two of the top three ingredients, making me question exactly how "color-safe" it is. (To be fair, this is not just the case with Herbal Essences' color-safe shampoo. Many pharmacy brands like L'Oreal also have shampoos with sulfates that claim to be color-safe.) Color-Safe aside, this shampoo does foam nicely and leaves my hair feeling nice and clean. I usually shower every day after the gym, and I am pleased with it so far. I do use the Fanola No Yellow Shampoo ($10 off of Amazon, best purchase I ever made) once a week to make sure my hair does not turn yellow-y. This shampoo is clear and has a very, very, very mild smell. It does not bother me too much, but I was surprised by how bland it is, considering Herbal Essences is usually known for its beautiful smells. Overall, I will be continuing to use this shampoo until it's empty, but I will not be purchasing it.

This conditioner delivered on its promise of more voluminous hair. It did not leave my hair weighed down and did indeed leave it bouncier. It also left my hair feeling and looking sleeker - like the hair follicle was more sealed shut or something. My only complaint about this product (and the reason I removed one star from what would have otherwise been a five star review) is that I wish it left my hair just a little bit more moisturized. After two weeks of using this conditioner after every wash, both my scalp and my ends were a little bit dry. That being said - I live in a place where humidity is around 40% (VERY DRY) so you might not require as much moisture as I do. That being said, I think a coconut oil treatment once per week would rectify this issue - I jus wanted to try ONLY this product for two weeks to have a completely accurate idea of what it would do to my hair. The icing on this cake is that this product is Eco conscious. It states right on the bottle "This conditioner is made in a plant that matches electricity with renewable wind credits" and it is made in a zero manufacturing waste to landfill facility - both of these things appeal to my Eco friendly millennial heart and will definitely play a role in my decision to repurchase thus product (and I think I will).

Thank you for creating an effective, cleansing shampoo that doesn't leave an excessive film/oily residue on my forehead. The shampoo pleasantly "squeaks"/ rinses clean; YET, provides ease of combing. I hope you create more shampoos with only one or two emollients, as this one - with only the ginger & aloe as ingredients aiding in slip/detangling is nice. As my hair requirements have altered, I am so happy to find something to suit my normal, non-chemical, non-color, non-heat treated hair that needs nothing but an incredible supple, non-runny consistency; decent fragrance; beautiful appearance and attractive packaging. This is a nice product I am glad I can purchase. Great value, but never cheap.
