Hario Canister Coffee Mill
Bring out the best in your coffee beans, with the Hario coffee mill “canister”. The adjustable grinder means you can grind coffee coarsely, for cafetiere or percolator coffee makers, or finely for Espresso or drip coffee makers. The coffee grounds collect in the attached canister – which is also an airtight container, so you can store the freshly ground coffee until you need it. The Hario coffee mill is a manual ceramic burr grinder. This allows you to grind the coffee beans without heating them first, and also gives a more even grind than electrical grinders – these can ‘smash’ the beans into uneven fragments before they have a chance to be properly ground. A more even grind means better flavour, so use the Hario coffee mill to ensure your finished cup of coffee tastes the best it can. Hario was founded in Japan in 1921 as a manufacturer of heat-resistant glass, specialising in laboratory equipment. After World War II, Hario ventured out of the laboratory and pharmaceutical industries and began manufacturing household items – a coffee syphon was their first product suitable for home use. Hario now make award-winning, high quality coffee-making equipment for baristas and home enthusiasts alike. The V60 coffee dripper is now their most famous invention, and paved the way for their range of products that turn the brewing of coffee into an art form.

A hand grinder is not for the faint of heart! If you’re looking for a quick, easy way to grind your coffee, this ain’t it! If you’re looking for an intentional addition to your already sacred morning coffee routine, this is the perfect thing. Changing the grind size is easy to figure out, finding the perfect size is a bit more difficult. Would definitely recommend.

Construction and such seem good, and it gets the job done. My only issue is adjusting the grind: there are no demarcations, so you end up guessing, seeing what comes out, and repeating that until you get what you want. Fine if you only ever want one grind, but annoying if you move between two or more.

Product grinds well enough, disappointed that groove above fixed burr retains 8-10 beans during process. These beans become firmly lodged and likely never ground. Yes I do clean grinder after each use, but only dismantle for complete clean internally every 1-2 weeks.

Is awesome for small amounts of coffee beans, but if to much is in the top, I find it hard to grind the beans. Small amounts does wonders.Trying to change the grind settings from course to fine is also quit challenging as I get confused how much I’ve changed as it’s on the top of the handleThe size is perfect for easy storage, looks amazing and the quality is consistent when you find the right grind size.
Really beautiful looking cup and shipped very quickly. I know it is wasn't a very expensive cup but when you sell a product on the basis you can drink coffee (a hot liquid) out of it I don't think the whole base of the cup should melt the first time hot coffee is poured in.Gave this to my brother for his birthday and the next day he sent me pictures of the whole lower mandible of the skull melted by the coffee he poured in.Disappointing.
Like heaps of hand grinders out there, it does yield a slightly inconsistent grind, but you can slightly modify it to minimise wobbling of the burrs by tightening the fit of the shaft within the shaft stopper. (eg I wrapped it with some washi tape). It can be easily dismantled and reassembled for cleaning, the jar on the bottom is also removeable. The canister itself really does keep grounds nice and fresh. Overall, a gorgeous manual grinder that feels quite robust at this pricepoint.
Very satisfying grinding coffee beans using this grinder. Watching the beans disappear then opening the canister and breathing in the newly ground aroma is a wonderful start to the coffee making process. Meditative and ultimately gastronomically rewarding. Highly recommended.
The Skull Double Walled Glass Cup are a great bit of fun and can look amazing with a variety of drinks in them. They do keep the drink warm, but they are the first double walled glasses I have seen that don’t actually have a glass bottom....ie there is no vacuum between between the glass walls. This does make it interesting to try to dry the internal surface after washing. Although my hands are on the large size (XL gloves), the external diameter of 9 cms is larger than expected.I would, however, recommend them for the experience.
These things just look awesome! The small size is fine for espresso shot, and the large is a great size for a long black, but milk is where it's at with these evil 'cups'. Pouring a latte or a piccolo in one of these bad boys surely gets the attention of anyone around, and the visual process makes the coffee experience even more fun.The outer glass is quite sturdy, but the inner skull can be delicate on these hand made babies, so care is advised when using and cleaning.
I love the ritual this adds to my coffee preparation. It's really nice to be able to take it all apart to see how it works and for maintenance. It was very squeaky at first, and I noticed some shiny flakes that wear off around the crank and the plastic washer, but this stopped after a few weeks of use. The grinds come out even and it's very straightforward to adjust once you watch a tutorial!
