Haakaa Generation 1 Silicone Breast Pump, 100 ml Capacity

When I first started breastfeeding/pumping I did not know how to use this properly. After a little research (and a few helpful videos) the Haakaa was a staple in my routine when it came to pumping and getting engorgement under control! The easiest way to avoid the “learning curve” is start out using slowly and not for an extended period (fully emptying). Fold the flap completely down and squeeze before applying it to yourself. Once everything is in place comfortably, release over the breast and slowly fold the flap up onto yourself. This should help avoid discomfort and create a nice suction for natural flow!

The Hakka Silicone Breast Pump is fantastic for catching the inevitable letdowns you have while breastfeeding. It’s a simple single piece which makes it easy to clean and use, flip the top back, squeeze and then hold to breast while flipping the top up again. This has helped me to begin a little stash of milk with all 3 of my babies and helped relieve engorgement in the early days. Highly recommended to all expectant mothers preparing to breastfeed.

I now own 3 Haakaas with the suction base. This product is something you don’t know you need until you have it. Having more than one allowed me to have one in the fridge to cool the milk between feedings, but I still always had a clean one. When breastfeeding you just place it on your alternate breast while your child nurses and it collects all the milk that would have otherwise gone into your bra. I couldn’t believe how much milk I was able to collect without really trying. It’s great for those late night feeds too, because it’s silent. Overall I would absolutely recommend this product. Bonus tip: if you have 2, put them on while you shower.

I am nursing my 1 year old and still continue to use my haakaa every morning. Initially I was very intimidating so I regret not using it the first month but after watching a video on how to put it on properly it’s extremely simple and pain free! Such an amazing invention to prevent wasting any breastmilk! Every ounce truly counts! The lid comes in handy for when I’m in a rush and don’t have time to transfer milk to bottle/freezer milk bags. If you plan on nursing this is not only nice to have but a necessity. Would recommend this to every mom, wish I had it for my first 3 kids.

This is the only pump I’ve used with my second baby. I cannot live without my haakaa pumps!! They are so easy and effective! I use them whenever I feel full or on the opposite side when I’m nursing. I love how they suction on and collect the milk. They’re comfortable and easy to clean! Even great for treating mastitis with water and Epsom salts! Also great for long car rides!! I can’t say enough good things!

What a fantastic invention, honestly! So simple, cheap and effective. As most mums know, in the very early days of breastfeeding how much wastage goes through our bras, clothes and those nursing pads (absorbing precious golden milk). A Haakaa is a MUST for any new mum planning to breastfeed. I love started pack these in pamper gifts as they are so cheap to buy and so much more effective compared to a electric pump (if for the purpose of collecting milk during a feed). All you need to do is put this on the breast whilst bub is feeding from the other and the suction will just start to collect the natural let down. I would generally collect between 20-80ml just by it being on my breast. No sucking/pulling like a electric does. Highly, highly recommend.

I wish I had known about the haakaa sooner into my breastfeeding journey. I started using it about 4 weeks postpartum. While my baby nurses on one breast, the haakaa is attached to the opposite breast as the passive suction catches whatever milk is letdown as my baby nurses. It has collected as much as 3 oz in one nursing session. I usually top off my baby with whatever amount my haakaa catches. So a feeding session for us will look like: 10-15 min on one breast + 1 oz. I also noticed she started gaining more weight after I began topping her off with the milk caught by the haakaa. I highly recommend getting not just one but two. One to keep at home, and another to keep in diaper bag.

I was prone to getting blocked ducts with both kids. If you know, you know! This is the worst feeling and can be extremely painful. I had the Haakaa as I would use it from time to time when I was either breastfeeding or using my single pump. I quickly learned that with warm water, Epsom salt and the Haakaa you can clear a clogged duct. This was my new go to and saved my life (and boobs!) more then I can count. It was also super handy to have for when I was using my single pump or breastfeeding, I could easily place it on my other without fear of it coming off.

Affordable and efficient

Absolutely amazing! Super super easy and works magic. I usually use this at each feeding on the opposite side, and can collect upwards of 20oz per day - I’m sure more if I used it consistently. It’s a great price and is easy to wear. I find that it is a much more efficient way to collect milk rather that just using a breast shell. It also helps with engorgement. Definitely worth the money!

So convenient and easy to clean!

I started using this when I felt my milk come in and breasts were engorged. I bought a manual breast pump, electric pump and a wearable pump. I ditched all the other pumps but this one. I got tired of washing and sterilizing the million little pieces and making sure my wearable pump was charged or I was near an outlet to plug my electric pump to. I still use my Elvie Catch for catching letdown when nursing, but I exclusively use the Haakaa to pump/express. I literally just suction the Haakaa on, watch tv and 15 mins later, I have about enough milk to feed my 6-week old for one session!
