A very nice product and good investment. Was very easy to setup and use in my google network. I have setup with 3 temperature sensors and can monitor temperature conditions throughout my house from anywhere. Works very well and is saving me money on my heating and air conditioning costs.

A larger screen Honeywell thermostat was considered before I decided on Nest 3rd gen thermostat. Unfortunately for Honeywell, the Honeywell thermostat didn't get very good rating for connectivity. With Nest thermostat, it gets annoying sometimes that only piece-meal info (e.g. outside weather info, current inside temperature, set temperature, etc.) is displayed. But after a week or two of use after installation, it's the reliability of the thermostat that is more important than the display. Installation was relatively easy; Nest works out a wiring diagram for me to follow. Overall,no buyer's remorse so far!

Positive: Looks great. Loved seeing the days weather forecast. Liked seeing precise usage history on daily chart in the app. Nice UI and the dial feels precise. Such potential. Negative: Swings in temperature were intolerable (intolerable in hot climate) with no way to narrow the temperature differential. Intolerable. My experience: Set it to 76. At 77 (too hot) it finally turns on AC and runs for 15 minutes, brings temp all the way down to 75 (too cold). No activity for 40 minutes while the temp increases back to 77. Wish AC would go back on sooner before it hits 77, but no way to reduce the differential from 2 degrees to 1 degree. AC should cycle more often than once per hour. (My AC contractor confirmed this; it should cycle in hot weather about 3X per hour.) ... MorePositive: Looks great. Loved seeing the days weather forecast. (My AC contractor confirmed this; it should cycle in hot weather about 3X per hour.) This is a common complaint I wish I knew before I dropped big $ on this. I replaced with a thermostat with adjustable differential and we are much (much) more comfortable. Now the AC goes between 75.5 and 76.5, and cycles every 25 minutes instead of every hour. I sold my used Nest for half $ what I paid for it. Thats how much I disliked it. With all the exhibited sophistication, it would seem that Nest could fix this, but they dont seem to listen to numerous user forums where this weakness is commonly called out. Perhaps discomfort saves energy, but taking that to its logical end, then why have any AC at all? Perhaps you live in a different climate and the large swing wont bother you. Otherwise I recommend against it.

Does what it says, beautiful when installed. Does more than any other residential thermostat. Totally automated. Uses Wifi/Internet connection to register with the Nest mobile app. And connect to the Nest app giving you the ability to make thermostat changes in your car, away home or anywhere your android or apple phone is to make changes when not at home. cons: (Must have a WiFi data connection or it will NOT connect/sync with the nest mobile app or function with only a (mobile/cellular) data connection.
The item was in perfect condition. At first I was a little worried that it may have been defective. After letting is charge for over an hour, I was still getting 'Low Battery'. Which meant I could not connect to Wi-Fi, or set up the Nest app. I had to let it charge over night before I could configure it. Been working perfectly ever since.
The device couldn't properly detect the wiring. After some Google research, it seemed it was a bad backplate. Google graciously replaced it for free. After using the new baseplate, the thermostat did detect the wiring. I had to charge the unit overnight on a USB cable. The unit worked for about four hours before disconnecting. After more Google research, the battery was likely bad. At that point, I just returned it. The low price wasn't worth the hassle; I should have just bought a new one in the first place. The return was mostly easy, so at least that's a positive.
My A/C is almost 40 years old. It still works well, but the old thermostat didn't. I figured that I would update the thermostat and when it is time to update the A/C, it will be ready for anything I could throw at it. The installation was easy with the supplied instructions and supplies. It woks like a charm. I always read reviews before purchasing anything new, so there are some people who either have defective equipment, or are just unequipped to DIY certain projects. With the amount of thought that went into this product, and the amount of help plus the ease of installation, there should be no issues when installed correctly! I highly recommend this thermostat. I am a trade professional for over 30 years. This is a great product!
It they provide good performance, specifically if One has the individual sensors for the other rooms. However, its not any better than the Snow model, or Nest Smart. In fact, the Nest Smart model it brings outside temperature and some other data when sense motion, but the 3rd Gen. only provides current temperature; in order to prove outside temperature and data the individual must physically touch the thermostat. However, they thermostat does performed well, and matches Stainless Steel appliances.
I'm very pleased with the Google Nest. I purchased two. For upstairs and downstairs. I was able to take advantage of the daily report to fine tune the individual schedules before the big heat wave hit Sacramento area. The flexibility of remotely monitoring them via the WIFI is great. What this excerise taught me is to be smarter about my Google security settings. I don't plan to embrace the California electrical grid network at this time. The electrical grid contractors would need access to the Google account. Maybe in the future.
The Nest thermostat is a great product. I just had my 16 year old Heating and Air Conditioning system replaced. My old thermostat with the old system would have the AC start in the morning and would run non-stop all day until about midnight. The Nest, with my new system, doesn't even start AC running until about 11 0'clock and it cycles on and off during the day. It appears to be running only about 50%of the time, which is great for the electric bill and even better for Texas in the summer. Nest sets its schedule based on temps youve entered at certain times on certain days so there is no need to manually enter a schedule. It just "learns" how you've use it in the past. The Nest app keeps tracks of on-off cycles so you can review them. Nest is absolutely worth the money.
