This product is only consistent in how bad it works. It won't remove masking tape adhesive with any verve yet will remove nearby paint primer with aplomb? I think we accept mediocrity with this product. I can't recommend it beyond light household use, if that. There are better industrial and automotive products that do far better.

I recently went in the hospital for knee replacement surgery and they slapped stickers on my walker with all my vital statistics on both armrests. When I went home, I tried to peel off the paper stickers. They left a messy residue which I managed to remove with a cloth saturated with Goof Off

This product used to be safe for many finishes, but its formulation has been changed to include acetone. Acetone will destroy most finishes.Looking at the ingredients, it appears that toluene was replaced with acetone. It still contains xylene. You may as well simply use nail-polish remover or plain acetone now. Goof Off may now destroy valuable items that its old formulation did not.

I received this Good Off sample as part of the Spark Reviewer program. Good Off is a odd name for a product, but it really works. If you have glue or residue from a label, Good Off will take it off. This size of a container will last a long long time because you only need a little bit of it and the glue or residue is history. I have noticed that there are some types of glue that are just stubborn and doesn't like to come off. you just need to use a little more Good Off and you will prevail over the glue. The spout can be a little problematic getting open, but that is a good safety feature to keep the solvent out of the hands of little ones that should not be playing with or using this.Keep it in the garage and use it in a well ventilated space. It is strong smelling and strong against glue.It has multiple uses for sticky and gooey stuff so it is versatile. I've only used it on glue, but tar and paint should be no problem with this.
I walk a lot, and picked up a wad of gum this time. The gum picked up all sorts of debris, stones, glass dirt, and caused a mound, which created a lopsided walking stride.I applied Goof Off, scratched the gum with an awl, so product could penetrate to where gum was attached to the sole of my shoe. I waited about 5 minutes for Goof off to work. and used a flathead screwdriver to gently scrape off gum. I wiped off residual product, then washed and shoes are ready for actionGoof Off was very easy to use. The gum is gone and forgotten.A little at a time works best. Use it sparingly so you don't have a real mess on everything.
So I guess it kinda does what's advertised. But it's not at all as easy as putting on and scraping or wiping off. Still takes some elbow grease and patience. Used it to remove old caulking around a tub and still had to use a bladed scrapper and a putty knife to get it off after using the product. Kind of dissolved the thin layers of caulking, but really just made a mess to be cleaned up by a magic eraser. Very strong smell too if you are sensitive to that kinda thing. So I guess I would recommend it to HELP...but it's not an all in one cleaner if that makes sense. Be prepared to use it along with other methods of removal and have some time to devote.
This is stronger than the regular spray Goof Off for removing baked-on adhesive. We inherited two deck boxes when we purchased a home in the desert, and there were strips of duct tape on top of the boxes. When we removed the duct tape, the adhesive was left behind as marks on the plastic. Ugly! But with some rags and the Goof Off, and a little elbow grease, my husband removed all the leftover stickiness from the old duct tape--and we didn't have to buy new deck boxes. Powerful stuff! A little goes a long way!
After my housekeeper used OrangeGlo on my hardwood floors they began to look scratched and streaks were everywhere. I tried everything on the market to remove the buildup and nothing worked. I saw a video on the internet about using Goof off and really didn't think it would work but at this point I was desperate because every flooring professional I talked to told me I would have to replace the hardwood it could not be removed. Well, they were wrong. I opened all the doors and windows bought a package of cleaning cloths and began spraying Goof off on the floor. If you leave it on for about one minute you can easily rub the wax right off down to the original finish with no damage at all. I want to tell the makers of Goof off you saved me thousands of dollars! I had thought there was no hope in removing dried paint from several months ago. I had lots of dried paint on some floor tiles which was there for at least 3 months. This product made it come off fairly easy with a little effort. Just used it with a paper towel and it came off.
Several years ago I had some wallpaper border that would not stick, so I stupidly used some hot glue to keep it in place. Now that I have removed that old wallpaper, the hot glue is still stuck to the wall and I've been having a difficult time getting it off. I gave Goof Off a try and it did help the glue removal, although the smell is so incredibly strong I could only work at it for a few minutes and then had to go get some fresh air. If you're working in an area with plenty of fresh air you might be fine. I noticed it did take a bit of the "shine" off of the paint, but we are repainting so it doesn't really matter to us.Make sure to use an old rag that you plan on throwing away when you are done and be careful when you pop up the little spout as it squirted Good ... MoreSeveral years ago I had some wallpaper border that would not stick, so I stupidly used some hot glue to keep it in place. Yes, I would say so. But the smell is pretty strong.
