Was in almost perfect tune straight out of the box and is perfectly set up. Plays beautifully and well worth the money. I've always wanted a Les Paul, did my homework and this 60s standard is everything I expected and more. Awesome classic and a welcome addition to my collection. Even came with a photo of the beast in the factory! Great hard case too. I love this guitar as much as my Parker Fly Mojo which I did not expect. Build quality is fantastic. Full marks to Gibson.

I've been eyeballing this guitar for quit sometime in the GC website. Unfortunately, the local GC never had it in stock in their store. I asked the local GC store manger if he can check the other GC stores if they have one available. Fortunately he found a GC store that just received one. So, I drove 2 hours to the GC that had one. Arrived at the GC, walked in and long and behold, there it was on the very top display rack. I asked one of the GC sales rep if I can try it out, he replied that the store just received the guitar and that I'd be the first one to play it. Played it for 30mins, I love the feel of the 60's slim tapered neck and the sound of the Burstbucker pick-ups. I end up taking her home!

I had a great experience with Musiciansfriend. I called my gear advisor, Scott, and he went the extra mile to answer all of my questions over about a two week period. My guitar weighs just under 10 pounds. The set up was superb with a low action and near perfect intonation. Phenomenal sound. Just amazing. Each string rings out clear and balanced. This is my first Gibson. I am a Fender player ('69 Jaguar, '97 Strat) so I was afraid I wouldn't like the warm tones of the humbuckers (nearly went with P90 because of this), but I can't compliment this guitar enough. It's a legend for a reason. The only bad thing is the case. It's obvious that Gibson doesn't take as much care in quality control for their cases. Extremely pleased with this guitar
12 December 2021

I am a home hobbyist. I have played guitar for about 40 years and have had dozens of guitars over that time. I've owned several Les Paul's over the years including another Standard. This guitar had a great setup right from the factory. Very low action with no fret buzz. The neck feels great in my hand, the pickups sound great, and the finish (triburst) is amazing. The only negative thing I would mention is that it appears that Gibson is using a different color rosewood on their fingerboards these days. It's more of a gray color than the traditional reddish that I prefer. The fingerboard itself feels great but I like a darker red color than gray.

Fantastic Les Paul
11 March 2022

I've had the guitar for a couple weeks now and it's been the main guitar I've played during that time and it's incredibly hard to put down. The neck is thin but not too thin. It's a good medium profile. This is also one of the lightest Les Pauls I've ever played. The guitar is extremely resonate and loud acoustically. This could just be luck of the draw finding this specific Les Paul, because I've played a few 60's standards and not all of them were like this one. This one was definitely the best one I tried of this model. I have yet to gig with it yet, but I can't wait to. I've tried it in Standard, Eb Standard, Drop D, and Drop C# and it sounded and reacted great in all four tunings with little need for adjustments. The only con I've found is occasionally the ...Β MoreI've had the guitar for a couple weeks now and it's been the main guitar I've played during that time and it's incredibly hard to put down. The only con I've found is occasionally the higher strings seem to choke out slightly, but that should be easily remedied with some minor adjustments, and they don't choke out enough to really hurt playability.

Great sounding, finish doesn't last...
8 August 2022

Really loved the look of this guitar new, beautiful flame top and burst. Definitely more punch than a standard 60's, great for hard rock/G&R style tones. Dial down the volume for a more traditional tone. Unfortunately the clear coat didn't last two years and is starting to bubble. Of course it's not covered under Gibson's warranty. Never had this happen to any Fender, Charvel, Epiphone, ESP, Martin, or any other Les Paul that I've owned or used. Even friends with multiple LP's have never seen this type of finish bubbling, it's almost like a cross between sandpaper & braille.Nice playing guitar, not sure I'd buy another "limited edition" based on my experience with this paint. May end up looking for a used traditional or similar.

Roll of the dice
16 April 2021

I have a collection, mainly Gibson guitars, and when I saw this new 60's burst repro I thought wow, that's a good price for that guitar. However, that guitar in the photo is probably the best one they made at this price. The one I received had very little of that book matched tiger striping that makes bursts so cool to look at. So, I remembered that Guitar Center and Musician's Friend are the same company and just drove down to the store with it. They had just one that looked a lot better, so I traded it out. Again, the photo here is still nicer than the one I settled for, so don't be surprised when this happens to you. Latches on the cases also vary. Gibson is outsourcing these, and the first one I had looked more classic than the second one, which has more modern looking latches. It's also not so cool that there's a modern-looking Gibson logo on a brown case that's trying to look classic... That kinda' sucks, especially if you already have some classic brown cases next to it against the wall. In terms or quality and playability, it's good to go. Pickup selector was loose, so had to tighten it, but otherwise plays and sounds great. It would be nice if Gibson would pay more attention to wood selection for the tops on these, though. I have a LP Std from the early 80's (cherry burst) with a far nicer top on it that I bought new for less than 1/3 the price. Don't tell me it's only that I bought it that long ago that I lucked out. Tea burst is a nicer color in my opinion, and hoping it won't fade as quickly as my older one.

Takes your breathe away

This my first Gibson ever I've been playing for ten years and always wanted a Gibson Les Paul Standard and now I have one. When I opened up the case it literally took my breath away,I never seen such a beautiful guitar in my life, and when I plugged it into my 25W Orange amp all I can really say is WOW!!! No fret buzz it is set up beautifully, and the action is absolutely buttery,if your thinking of getting a Les Paul Standard don't hesitate you will not be disappointed like to give a big shout out to my sales engineer Matt Suber ext 3964 for making it all possible and I will be stopping at Sweetwater I've been there before and it's first class all the way thank you Sweetwater P.S. The Industry Standard Doesn't Disappoint

I pondered this purchase for a while, I was debating between the LP and a Heritage. The GC special financing sealed the deal. This thing is everything I imagined an LP to be. It plays even better than my Fender. There was a small imperfection on headstock where debris was caught between coats of nitro and the sprayer missed it. No problem though; the rest of the guitar is flawless. I just want to stare at it.I refuse to let this be a case queen, so I play it a lot. Why buy a guitar and not play it? It's easier on my hands than my American strat, thanks to its 12" radius fingerboard. The Fender has a 9.5" one, so the strings play closer together than the LP. The bridge pickup sounds awesome, but I haven't quite found the best amp setting for the neck. It can't match my Fender as far as bell-like clarity, but I have ZERO hum with my LP.I went through it with a fine tooth comb and everything was set up from the factory perfectly. The case was missing the keys and multi-tool, but Gibson sent them to me very quickly after I contacted them. I'm still not used to the tuners, which use a very low ratio. That means if you blow on them either way, you'll go sharp or flat. I really just love this work of art and just marvel at how there are no exaggerations on other reviews as far as these being quality instruments. I can't say anything else about them that hasn't been said, but had to weigh in.

The best guitar ever
21 September 2021

I finally saved money for this guitar and when I wanted to buy it, there was no available models in stock all across Netherlands. I was trying to find it everywhere and eventually I found one piece here in Music Store. i was so happy! It arrived in a good packaging by DHL. It took longer then expected (a few days longer) but in a good shape. I recorder a full unboxing just in case of any issues, but it turned out that the guitar and the suitcase are in perfect condition. no glitches, or scratches all over the guitar. The construction and the setup are as expected. The sound is also awesome and as expected from a such guitar. Overall, I am very happy with this order.
