A great compromise

A very useful tool. I had mine for a couple of years. I found myself grateful for each tool at various times through ownership. The blade material is soft but sharpens easily and quickly. The screw driver is very useful to have in the pocket but I lost the double sided bit months ago. I replaced it with a standard Philips bit. The scissors have the most utility for me and are starting to wear out due to lateral pressure from use (they owWon't cut unless i apply lateral pressure.. I may need a new one soon. The awl serves many purposes. You may be surprised. The hammer/striker function has proven valuable. Every multitool is a compromise but this one is worth carrying.

I've used this for 3 weeks now and have used all of the tools on this device. It is always in my pocket now, and has been phenomenal. My only complaint is the Awl and Driver don't lock. The driver doesn't matter so much to me personally, but the awl has cut up my finger a few times now. When any pressure is put on it, it folds, and due to the fact that your hand is where it folds to, the sharp inside edge cuts the skin really well.

I've never been satisfied with a multi-tool. Multi-tools that are actually functional are too big to put in your pocket. The SAK has a toothpick. This knife is almost a SAK. It's pocket sized, same size as my SAK. Except for the tooth pick it has everything I want: Blade, phillips and flat screwdrivers, and functional scissors. The blade is a powder metallurgy variant of 420HC stainless. That means it's not as hard as a high end knife, but it's not nearly as expensive. Out of the box it had a sharp edge so it should be possible to sharpen. Third party reviews say that the blade has been titanium nitrided. I tried a file on it and it skated on the surface so there is some kind of surface hardening for sure. The screwdriver is a magnetic bit holder with a flat/phillips bit. It's 1/4" so you can substitute your own. The scissors work. They're meant for paper more than anything else, but the spring works as well as the SAK, and much better than the one in the scissors on the leading brand of multi-tool. There's an awl and a bottle opener too. The awl looks good for cutting the tape on cardboard boxes.

A small knife which combines a good selection of functions. What I like is the reversable screwdriver with a (and replacable) crosshead/straight slot bit. The scissors are also useful. What I do not like is the opening operation of the blade which is difficult to due to the safety feature which acts against accidental opening. The whole knife is too small to easily open since this blade safety feature works against opening.

Good idea - poor execution
31 January 2024

The idea behind the product is really good. A really good form factor and the potential for a swiss army knife competitor. However, the implementation is simply miserable. The quality is not right even for this price. The screwdriver cannot be locked, the blade can hardly be operated with one hand, the scissors have a pivot point that is hardly usable and so on. It's a real shame to get it so wrong at the last mile.

Good value for the money
31 January 2024

Some features work better than others, got this as an alternative to my Leatherman Skeletool someone stole and i mever used the pliers anyway. Pros knife blade is a good size, driver works well for small projects would be nice if they added a lock for the driver at some point, scissors are larger than most other comparable options but spring for them can bind up. Cons bottle opener is a little tough to use and it's "hammer" is laughable with how lightweight it is, no pocket clip or carabiner clip. Overall happy with it for the money since I bought it on sale

Great idea, poor finish
10 August 2024

I bought this a week ago. I like the size, slim size, and functionality. However, I don't know how it doesn't have a pocket clip. The blade does not stay in well and took about an hour for me to sharpen it. The driver is great, but needs to lock in place. It's already collapsed on my fingers once. Again, no pocket clip. I like the idea and basic construction, but a few tweaks and I could see it being one of my favorite EDCs. So close.

Let me start by saying I love this tool. I have a number of knives and multi-tools but this is the first that provides all I need in a pocket friendly design. The one drawback and the reason for 3 stars, is quality. I ordered my first and it arrived with a loose blade lock that allowed the blade to wiggle 2mm at the tip. Down to poor blade to liner-lock grind matching. I returned it and reordered it. My second has now arrived with a stable blade but the driver is bent off-centre. Incidentally both tools also had/have asymmetric blade edge grinds?! This is my second Gerber product and whilst it doesn't materially effect its function, it bothers me every time I open it. Disappointing that such a great piece of kit suffers from such an easily solvable problem (at very little expense). Up the QA and you have an amazing tool. This tool swayed me from a Leatherman buy - I own 4x so that's saying something where I'm concerned. Regards JR

My daily driver (pun not intended)
31 December 2022

The blade is great, holds and edge fairly well, sharpens well and the liner lock is great. The scissors are not great because they're a little too flimsy to stay tight while cutting stuff like plastic bags. I use the awl frequently for many things daily but wish it had a detent or lock to keep it open. The screwdriver it's big selling feature is nice and works well until you have to apply pressure. It truly needs a hard detent or lock! Bottle opener does the job and does pry other things well. I can't speak the the hammering function because I've never been in a big enough of pinch to use the feature.

No pocket clip is the issue.
18 December 2023

I really like this product with 1 exception. The arm-bar trade has a pocket clip. Why doesn’t this same base product have the same. I switched to this from a single blade with a clip edc knife. It’s annoying to have the tool loose in my pocket. Also, the clip should be oriented for 1 handed pocket pull and blade open. Seems like a small issue but a simple fix.
