The application process of this Garnier Good dye kit was simple to follow and fairly swift to undertake even counting in the 30min developing time. I had a brand new look in under an hour including washing, drying and styling my hair. All can even be done whilst watching an episode of your fave series with the new non-drip formula. I of course carried out a 48hr test patch behind my ear and on my wrist beforehand - better to be on the safe side. Though I have sensitive skin on my scalp and skin in general I've experienced no issue with this product. No irritation or cause for concern at all.My hair before dyeing was of a dark mousy brown shade and is now a richer, warm chestnut colour about two levels darker courtesy of the shade 4.15 Iced Chestnut Brown. Fragrance-wise there is none of that old terrible chemical smell hair dyes used to have that would stink out your home for hours. Instead I find the colour and developing creams both have a pleasant milky-sweet scent to them and the aftercare cream is of shea butter which smells divine. Now you definitely want that wafting through your home.Overall a really positive experience with this Garnier Good hair dye kit. Quick, easy and a whole new look in under an hour. x

I was looking for a light caramel coloured dye just for part of my fringe which had developed a white streak. My natural hair colour is medium brown.Id tried other colours from various brands but they were either too blonde or too brown.I used Iced Latte and the colour is perfect!!Very easy to dispense and mix, I found it no trouble to apply to the front of my hair. When I come to colour the roots all around my head (medium brown) I don't think I'd manage using my hands. I'll save an old plastic bottle from a previous dye and dispense into that.Good points....Great packaging, easy to mix, no nasty smell, conditioner lovely with a delicate fragrance. Hair once dried, soft and very healthy looking. Not so good points....Need some sort of brush or applicator ... MoreI was looking for a light caramel coloured dye just for part of my fringe which had developed a white streak. I saw this product advertised and looked at reviews and thought good reviews. I read the instructions and followed them to the latter. I'm not going to lie, when the 30 mins was up and I saw the final look I cried. My hair was orange! I quickly looked at the box again for advise. It should not have gone orange! I quickly looked to Google for help and it said about a purple shampoo. I did this and it did help a little, my hair was now yellow not orange at least. But my hair was still not the colour the box promised. I had to go to the hairdresser's the next day to fix it. They said it was probably because it dyed into natural hair colour not bleached hair. If you use this product do a tester on a small piece of hair where you can't see if it goes wrong before you do ... MoreI saw this product advertised and looked at reviews and thought good reviews. I was pleased to test this colour as it was a good match to the shade I use currently for my greying roots!. The process was the same as other products 1, mix the colour, 2 apply to roots for 20 minutes, 3. apply to rest of hair, 4 rinse, 5 condition and dry. What I loved was that there was no smell coming from the product at all which I was worried about at first. It was easy to mix and apply to my hair with just using the gloves and my finger tips and it didn't drip down. What I didn't like was that I felt there was not enough mixture. I am glad I was only doing the roots and not a first coverage as I beleive for my length hair it would have not been enough. My hair sits down my back but not as low as my bra strap so mid-length. That's the only hair dye that I use and the shade 5.0 is the closest to my natural hair. I like that this product is sustainable and good for the environment. The application process is the most easiest, you just need to put the gloves on and to apply it as if you apply mask on your hair. The products are easy to mix and the shea butter smells lovely. The hair dye has a great coverage, I am quite happy with it as it covers my grey hairs. The instructions are clear and easy to understand and to follow. As this is my favourite hair dye and I always stick to it, I prefer to cover my roots and leave the hair dye on for 15 mins, however I do sometimes apply it on my whole hair and leave it for 30 mins. Highly recommend it, it's better than others I've tried. ... MoreThat's the only hair dye that I use and the shade 5.0 is the closest to my natural hair. I don’t think my hair has ever felt as soft or silky or had such a nice shine to it. This was like magic. I normally use a different brand but after seeing this promoted on instagram I gave it a go. Very easy to apply. I have medium length hair and used one tub. I went for the vanilla it’s a nice colour a medium blonde but not brassy or yellow. The condition is just amazing. I didn’t even use the conditioner that comes with it as I forgot to have it to hand while rinsing so used another conditioner that I’ve used many times before and wouldn’t be that impressed with. So it’s definitely the hair dye that worked wonders. I will definitely use it again.
I wanted to try this based on the idea of better ingredients as I react to hair dyes often. I still reacted to this although not as strongly as others. This would have been fine in itself; however the basis for my 2 star review is down to how difficult it was to apply and the condition of my hair afterwards. The idea of the bucket thing seemed good to me at first, until mixing when it was splashing around & I had to clean up spots of product from myself and the bathroom. Then applying it was a total nightmare - I was really stuck without an applicator bottle. The product consistency is like mashed banana so just slips off the gloves and was really hard to apply accurately.I bought two packs as I have a LOT of hair; and the gloves in both packs ripped staining my ... MoreI wanted to try this based on the idea of better ingredients as I react to hair dyes often. Then applying it was a total nightmare - I was really stuck without an applicator bottle. The product consistency is like mashed banana so just slips off the gloves and was really hard to apply accurately.I bought two packs as I have a LOT of hair; and the gloves in both packs ripped staining my hands with the dye. Then when it was all on and trying to tidy away because I'd had to apply with my hands and was holding the tub with the hands I'd been applying with; it was carnage. Dye everywhere - all over the outside of the tub so it was much harder to clean down afterwards. There was a distinct lack of smell which was really nice and the dye didn't drip off my head at all which is always a winner. The colour has come out well & covered all my greys so top marks on that. BUT my hair is so dry and flat, despite using their Shea conditioner thing. Normally after dying my hair it has a mirror shine & my hair is naturally fairly shiny, but it looked frazzled and dull.I've had to smother it in hair oil and am now praying after my normal wash & conditioner that my normal shine will return. All in all - IF the shine issue fixed itself I would consider using this again (with antihistamines) IF and only if I could successfully decant the mashed banana mixture into a applicator bottle & apply with a brush as normal.
I opted for the shade 7.0 Almond Creme Dark Blonde as I had already got a balayage and my root grow out was my natural light brown colour.I love the packaging first of all, especially as it's 45% less plastic than the Olia dyes. The instructions were easy to follow and the formula was easy to mix with the spatula given. I used my hands to apply the dye while wearing the gloves provided, I found this super easy and it really did apply like a mask.I let the dye develop for 40 minutes and then rinsed, I was surprised at how soft my hair already while rinsing the dye. I then followed with the shea butter conditioner mask which is so lovely and there's a very generous amount, I have just over shoulder length hair and have enough for another application which is ... MoreI opted for the shade 7.0 Almond Creme Dark Blonde as I had already got a balayage and my root grow out was my natural light brown colour.I love the packaging first of all, especially as it's 45% less plastic than the Olia dyes. This could be completely down to the colour I chose though but I did think it was the most similar shade to mine. Overall, I'm impressed with this dye and I would repurchase in a different shade. My hair feels really soft and looks shiny and healthy, I just didn't expect it to darken my hair instead of lighten.Highlights:Ammonia freeApplies like a hair maskVery pleasant sweet scentColour lasts up to 8 weekLeaves hair looking shiny and feeling softVegan and cruelty free
This dye has a lot of attributes I consider important during my product purchase decision making. It's Cruelty free.It contains no ammonia, no alcohol and no silicones. It is a vegan formulaThe most important point is that this product doesn't have the nasty chemical smell I associate with other hair dyes. I think that this dye was really messy to apply due to the lack of an applicator. I think it would be better if a small brush was provided with the kit.I had approximately 4-5 inches of dark brown / grey roots and the rest of my hair was varying shades of blonde you can see in the photo. Surprisingly, this dye has covered my whole head evenly despite the drastic colour differences.
I bought this because my usual dye is out of stock and this looked to be the closest colour. I truly applaud the lack of single use plastic, but there has to be a better way of doing this. The only part of the packaging that ended up in the recycling was the lid, as everything else was so messy. The gloves are massive, and very runny mixture so was difficult to target application. The mixture was so runny that much of it ending up in the sink, on the floor, or on my face. I'd suggest putting old towels down. I have never got in such a mess before! The colour is quite a lot redder than i was expecting from the picture - quite brassy. Fingers crossed, my usual dye will be back in stock soon. Would not buy again, or recommend.
