I bought this device less than two years ago, and it is the best investment I have made in my fitness. The suggested workouts keep you fit without having to plan ahead or accommodate injuries and setbacks. If you want to race, the race widget constructs a plan based on your fitness and adapts in a similar fashion. The LTE is great for being able to update your friends with your progress if you don’t have your phone. I would recommend this watch to anyone looking for a fitness watch that will take their performance to the next level. Garmin does a great job of having evidence-based metrics inform their algorithm-driven plans, and I look forward to seeing what they continue to come up with as hardware and sports science advance.

Upgrading from a 735xt... I checked out a lot of pofessional reviews and YouTube videos before feelng comfortable making the change, and I haven't been let down! Battery life on the 735xt was excellent and the 945 is the same. I haven't used the amazing in-built maps feature out and about yet, but it's there and functional so impressed there. My main reason for upgrading was to access bluetooth music capabilities not present on the 735xt and the 945 doesn't disappoint here; plenty enough GB space, connects fast to the Jabra Elite Active 7s I use and it's not a massive hassle to download music from your phone Spotify to your Spotify on the watch (after downloading the Spotify app for the watch via Garmin Connect app). I took advantage of the year end sales to buy a Forerunner 945 LTE, rather than wait a few weeks for the far more expensive Fenix 7. Typically I have always gone for the latest and greatest. From all the reviews that I’ve read, the new touch screen capability on the Fenix 7, functions really well for Map navigation. But that is not something that I need. So paying the discounted price of $525 for the Forerunner 945 LTE, vs $999 for the new Fenix 7, was a no brainer for me. I’ll be replacing this watch, like all my previous Garmins, in 2 years. It’s always nice having the latest and greatest, but in all honesty, the Forerunner 945 LTE gives me everything that I need, and delivers far greater value for money.

I've had Fitbit's for years... since they first came out. When my third one started showing signs of imminent failure, I started looking for something else. Enough with Fitbit, who's sleep tracking has always been... iffy. I went for this 945 LTE based on reviews and the astounding feature set. I've had it for a couple weeks... and I'm blown away by it's accuracy, ease of use and reliability. I'm sold on Garmin, and specifically this watch. It's very lightweight (I barely notice it's there... great for having on while sleeping), and it's a perfect size for my 6.5" wrists. The sleep tracking is amazingly accurate, as its GPS, which in the 7 or 8 sessions so far, has never been more than a meter or two off. With it, you can dig deep into your sleep patterns, movement, Blood Oxygen levels and so much more. I'm completely sold on this watch / tracker. One of the best, and most useful gifts I've ever given myself.
If you are looking for a watch to handle full distance 140.6 triathlons, DO NOT BUY this watch. This watch went from 100% to DEAD in 11:35 during ironman Texas. I bought this watch has an upgrade over my beloved 945, which only used 45% battery for Ironman Florida. Never had connectivity or battery problems. The LTE however, will just drain excessively. Even sitting on my nightstand it will drain 50% over night. I have to plug it in every night. Unlike the 945 I would plug in once a week. Connecting to earbuds, iPhone and bike trainer are also an issue. I have a Tacx FLUX (Garmin) trainer, the watch will connect to the trainer and speed/cadence but have issues connecting to the power, so I have to connect manually. The watch is light, seems rugged and I get a good 4 days out of the battery. It charges quickly and is easily cleaned - it does get used outdoors. I bought my first Forerunner 945 LTE a couple months ago. It was a lemon. The wifi did not sync properly. After a couple troubleshooting phone calls, Garmin replaced it. The replacement watch has been solid. Everything works. The pros include the wide variety of sports it tracks, its durability and relative ease of use once its been set up. Speaking of, the set up is tricky. If it's your first Garmin, it might take some time and assistance to tailor it to your liking. I only gave 4 stars because I'm not convinced of its accuracy considering the expense of the watch. My girlfriend also has a Garmin. We hike, run & cycle together and yet the watches track us for different heights and elevations. So I might log a 3.1 mile run and her watch would say 2.9 miles. I had the 945 first, but upgraded to the LTE version, excited about the possibilities of not having to download playlists. I suppose it's my fault, I listened to a faulty you tube video stating the abilities of streaming spotify. for nearly 100$ a year the service attributes are not at all worth it to me- someone who has no need of showing off my running or MTB live track. I guess the safety feature is a good sell, but not worth that large price tag. no thanks. I shouldve just stuck with the O.G. 945 for the extra $ tag. I do like how it's a little smaller with same display size, helpful for sleeping. I used to track sleep with my 5x, so I can appreciate the smaller watch size.
A great sports watch! So far I am using it to track my rides, and my general Health. It excels at tracking data (far better than I am used to) for my rides. I am still learning where to find bits and pieces (there is quite a lot to find) Paired with the connect app. it gives me sleep, stress, heart rate data (some surprises there) and oxygen levels. More data and maps of my rides. Garmin also gives training tips/guides in the data, so you can focus your training better. Not something I got it for, but it is interesting to see how it affects my fitness levels. I have customized some of the screens to show me what I want, and got rid of the screens I don't use... that in itself is brilliant, no more flicking through multiple screens to get the info you want. So for now I have added mountain bike tracking. this gives a bit more data than the ride app The GPS gets a fix really quickly, which is great, I don't miss any of my ride, and it hasn't missed a beat under pretty good tree cover. it can tell you sunset and sunrise times, twilight times, weather (need data connection on phone). barometric pressure/altimeter (can give weather trends from that too) Faultless message reporting, text and email and incoming calls. Haven't taken it for a swim yet, but hoping that is as good as everything I have tried so far. this thing is sweeeet... Did I mention it tells the time too......
