The National propane cylinder is ready to fuel your BBQ adventures. Pre-purged and vacuum filled at the factory this 5 pound tank saves the hassle of purging a new cylinder yourself. Built from high-grade steel and powder coated for rust prevention it's made to last through many summers of barbecuing. For your safety the overfill protection device OPD valve stops the flow when full and the cylinder has passed both x-ray and pressure testing. Transport is worry-free with approvals from both the Department of Transportation and Transport Canada.

Great little tank. Don't always need a 20# bottle. And this one lasts a long time, too! Only frown I have is over the price. I mean, this tank is 1/4th the size of a $25 20# tank. Since they don't sell that many of this size I get that, however... Home Depot had the best price on the internet! Thanx!

Bought in March 24, got home and opened box. Tank was stamped 04.22.2 years old already when i bought. Returned to another store for exchange. Found out all stock was 2 years old as they all come from same warehouse. Was in store April 7th 24, still had all old tanks.Pretty disappointed people are buying these tanks not realizing they are all 2 years old already.

In an effort to minimize the number of disposable 1-lb propane cylinders that I send to the landfill each year, several years ago I converted my old Coleman propane camp stove to run off a bulk tank. But lugging around a 20-lb BBQ-size bulk tank was a chore, so I finally spent the money on a 5-lb bulk tank. The new 5-lb tank holds more than enough propane for a weekend camping trip, is small enough to fit in my supply box and best of all, dramatically reduces the cost of propane. While the 5-lb tank sells for twice that of most 20-lb tanks, it cost me just $2.48 to fill the 5-lb tank at Tractor Supply. On the other hand, (5) 1-lb disposable cylinders cost almost $20. That means that once I've filled the new 5-lb tank three times, my cost savings will have paid for ... MoreIn an effort to minimize the number of disposable 1-lb propane cylinders that I send to the landfill each year, several years ago I converted my old Coleman propane camp stove to run off a bulk tank. More convenient than 1lb canisters
24 June 2023

Small size that’s great for camping and tailgates. No need to pack several expensive 1lb canisters when you have this 5lb tank from Flame King. Best of all it costs less than $4 to fill here in So. Cal. The equivalent amount in disposable cans would cost over $20. My tank arrived with no damages and it looks well built just like a 20lb tank. Great for your wallet and the environment when compared to disposable canisters. Yes, you could refill disposable canisters but in the name of safety get this instead.

Perfect for car camping
31 August 2024

This is the perfect size BBQ for car camping. We used it all weekend long on our Coleman roadtrip BBQ, instead of the small disposable canisters. We used it two to three times a day and we came home with almost a half full tank. It's small so it doesn't take a lot of space in the car.It feels a bit better for the environment using it, over the disposable propane bottles. The price is a bit steep, but overtime will balance out the cost of disposables.

Perfect size for winter overnights.
16 February 2024

Great little guy, holds a little over a gallon of propane. Great for an overnight camp with a buddy heater and propane stove in winter with an adapter hose. Exactly what i wanted instead of trying to carry around a 20 lb tank. About the size of 3 of the 1lb camping cans, no need to try dodgy refills of the 1 lb guys or make a bunch of trash.Great if you love to recreate in winter

Received a used and damaged tank
21 March 2023

I can not believe this is being passed off by flame king or the vendor Lowe's uses as a new item. This tank was packaged poorly, covered in marks and some scratches, sticker residue was covering the tank where old labels had been removed, and the top collar was welded on quite crooked. I was very disappointed. My older 5lb tank I use for camping and offloading doesn't show a fraction of the wear this "new" tank does. The only thing that looks new is this valve.

Skeptical at first but very happy now. After reading some unfavorable reviews here and another online retailer's website, I was a little worried by comments about poor construction, bad paint job, inability to fill tank, and old stock with construction dates from several years past. Mine arrived in pristine condition. Welds were clean, paint was flawless, packaging was sturdy and the date stamped on the handle/valve protector attachment was only 2 months prior to the date it arrived at my front door. Filling at the propane store went perfectly. My only quibble is the price which is twice that of the more common 20 pound tank. But this is kind of a specialty tank, so I understand the premium price to a certain extent. Overall, I'm feeling good about this tank and ... MoreSkeptical at first but very happy now. They leak, do not use indoors.
26 April 2023

Do not use indoors. I work in a lab and we purchased 2 of these. We got it inside and did a leek test, and they were both leaking from the top connector. We returned them for 2 new ones and tried these 2 new ones at the store, with the manager there as well. The 2 new ones were also leaking. So we got our money back and are looking for another brand. The leak is slight and if you're using it outdoors you wouldn't notice. But it would not be safe for indoors. Do a leak test before using.

This is perfect (with the 5’ attachment hose also available from Sportsman’s Guide) for use with my Mr Heater Portable Buddy allowing me run it at either 4K and even 9K settings ALL NIGHT without having to change out / replace the 1lbs. bottle you usually run it on. Prior to this I’d hate waking up to a cold tent in the wee hours of the morning and have to change the bottle and start the heater up again!!! I simply run the connecting hose though the zipped tent door enabling me to keep the tank outside. I also use it to supply my propane torch burner. This allows me to move around easily as I burn brush etc. without having to lug around a 20 lbs tank. Sportsman’s Guide also sells a similar tank except it’s 10 lbs. which is still substantially lighter and easier to ... MoreThis is perfect (with the 5’ attachment hose also available from Sportsman’s Guide) for use with my Mr Heater Portable Buddy allowing me run it at either 4K and even 9K settings ALL NIGHT without having to change out / replace the 1lbs. bottle you usually run it on.
