My baby kind of liked this set of toys. He got it when he was four months. The maracas were a good size for him to hold, but the tambourine was way too big and he didn't really enjoy it that much. It also didn't make enough noise (very faint noise that sounded nothing like a regular rattle or tambourine). The hard plastic also made this a little dangerous for my active boy. He would hit himself in the head with the maracas, and he fell on the hard plastic tambourine when he was learning to sit up. For this stage, soft toys and shakers are much better for us.

So I’m Not sure why this is getting bad reviews. My 4 month old got this for Christmas I had seen it in store and put on our list. Obviously you could tell it was plastic. However, it’s lighter than any other type toy I’ve tried that are similar. Others would literally knock a baby out. We were just playing with the maracas and he dislikes he can’t teethe on them lol. He then proceeded to smack his nose and cry. Now I didn’t take it away from him. It wasn’t enough to do damage in my opinion. He whimpered for a second and went back to shaking it crazy! The tambourine is large but he loves it. He holds it and looks at himself. He tries to chew on it but it’s not for that. It doesn’t make a lot of sound. But it’s enough. If you ordered you could have sent it back or returned to store instead of complaining. I think it definitely would be better for babies that can sit up. I had mine propped up on his prop a pillar caterpillar. Not seen a place for it to come apart, however I’m always with him and do kot leave him unattended with anything.

The rattle only has 3 balls in it so doesn’t make much of a shaking noise. The tambourine is all plastic so not much of a noise when shaken either. I got it on clearance online so was okay for the price but wouldn’t have purchased it I saw it in the shop & realised they don’t work very effectively

Great little set for little ones! The tambourine is very easy to get out of the packaging...just two little twisty pkastic clips to take off. The maracas are held in by a stretchy tie each. All three parts are lovely colours which are perfect for little beady eyes to focus on...The tambourine has a big mirror in the centre and little plastic textured discs around the outside ghat make a gentle clacky sound when it's shaken. Theres a lovely little handle too.The two maracas are percect for little grips....one end of each is soft and squishy (perfectly for sensory exploring) and the other end has three coloured plastic balls in a see-through plastic part....creating a soft rattle when shaken. My little girl absolutely loves this set!
I got my daughter these when she was either 4 or 5 months and she’s love them, especially the mirror. When she first started playing with them I was worried about her hitting her face when she would shake the rattle so every time the hard side was near her face I would just flip it around. She’s about to be 8 months soon so I don’t worry about it too much anymore. So far they are still in great condition and good distractions for her.
This was bought as a first birthday present. Even though the box says from 3+ months, these toys were very well received by a 1 year old. It was hard to get him to release the maracas when it was time to eat! He loves being able to make 'music' himself. The noise generated by the maracas and the tambourine is perfectly bearable! As you'd expect from Fisher-Price, these are good quality items. Service from Smyths was excellent.
The maracas are great for little hands and practicing to hold things. The tambourine is quite heavy for little hands and when shaken doesnt really make a great sound, although the mirror on it is quite fun.
Immediately drawn to the bright colours!Very easy to get into the box using the perforated lines, with an easy mechanism to twist and separate the toy from the packaging. When you think of musical instruments you think of them being loud, but these create soft sounds. I do however think the balls inside the maracas should be smaller and in more quantity to create the traditional maraca sound. The tambourine has a brilliant sized mirror, and not only do the clackers make noise, but they all spin for extra engagement.Highly recommend this product.
This was the only tambourine & maracas set I could see on Smiths toys. Suits 3 months +. I bought it for 9 month old but maracas are plastic with plastic balls inside too & soft fabric bottom so hardly make any sound - not even as good as a rattle. The maracas also make almost no sound as plastic discs are firmly embedded in frame - ok for chewing on.
Very good. Little one is in the phase he enjoys looking himself in the mirror. Mirror is very colourful, with the spinning rings around keeps baby busy for a whole. It is very clear, most of baby mirrors are blurred but it is like a real. It's been thrown on floor many times by now and hasn't broken into pieces, not even a crack. Rattles are also goodwith soft end, so little one can experience different touch and feel. He chew on both sides. Overall experience is that toy is good and safe, but doesn't keep him busy for long. My son is 6 months and 3 weeks old. Maybe younger babies will appreciate it more.
