Coffee fanatics just know the shape from a mile away. And for good reason, there's really nothing wrong with the kettle except being a little expensive. I bought this after having the stove top version for a couple years, and it boils very fast. I love the version I got with a walnut handle and the Easter egg is awesome though I won't spoil it... I have 2 little gripes that don't make or break the kettle, but it would be nice if they were fixed. Number 1, the rubber feet aren't balanced and it rocks pretty badly. One of these days, I'll modify it, and I'm fine with doing that. The second, is that after you pour and go to replace the kettle in the base, it starts boiling again... And it's usually empty after the pour too. I wish it behaved differently, but once you get used to it,byou just put the kettle to the side instead, or turn off the base. For these reasons, it's actually a 4.5 star for me, but I've rounded up to 5.

I chose this kettle primarily for my Gong Fu tea sessions as the temperature control is one of the most important brewing parameters and I've heard this kettle is very good in that department. Having used this kettle on a daily basis for a year I can definitely confirm that the temperature control is excellent. I like 1. Temperature control is almost perfect (except missing shortcut to boiling point, see below). 2. Overall ergonomics are great. The balance of the weight distribution while pouring is superb and pouring feels just natural and precise. The one turn/click button for setting the temperature and starting/stopping the kettle is an excellent UX. 3. The manufacturer is slacking in QC. My first unit had defective Fahrenheit/Celsius switch, fortunately Amazon replaced it and this one has the electronics in order. From what I've read it's not uncommon to get a defective base. 2. With use the plastic part of the lid warps a little and then it happens that the two pieces of the lid rotate and the venting holes get misaligned. One has to pay attention to that. 3. (Near-)boiling a full kettle causes that drops of water occasionally sputter through the lid venting holes and one can get burned. Also, one has to train not to touch the metal part of the handle as it gets really hot; with regular use I rarely burn myself anymore though. 4. When the temperature is set to boiling point the kettle still slows down several degrees ahead of reaching it and tries to get there slowly not to overshoot the temperature. For boiling point setting there is no reason for the sophisticated temperature control and no need to slow down. 5. The viewing angle of the display could be better. One has to be relatively close to be able to read it. 6. I would appreciate some discreet beep once the kettle reaches the set temperature the first time. Ideally to be enabled/disabled by a third switch at the back of the base though that might be a little too much to ask for :-) 7. For my use case the pouring speed is just too slow. If I want to brew in a larger (200 ml) teapot it takes way too long to fill it. I would love to be able to control the speed of the pour by tilting the kettle a bit more but the gooseneck is designed in a way that the only pouring speed is dead slow.

It also has a memory function, which is nice, but it's also super quick and easy to set the temp. I like the stopwatch feature in theory, but I wish it had a timer option instead/in addition. It would also be nice if it could chirp or something when it reached temperature. I find the water heats up super quickly, as well - within a few minutes.Overall, it's a huge improvement in form factor, precision, and efficiency from my stovetop kettle and thermometer setup. I would say I wish I had purchased sooner but I'm really obsessed with the color so I'm glad I waited! Can definitely see myself purchasing another for the office this fall/winter.

The water doesn’t leak through the lid. Fellow made a new one where the top is different and made plastic, cool to the touch of the right top side where the handle is and where you put your thumb. It connects with your iPhone so you can control it with your phone. You can schedule when to turn it on or off and you can even play games using the knob as a joystick. Love Fellow! Sam’s get us some that new one! Go on you tube and you’ll see a demonstration. Our second unit worked well except the wooden knob began cracking within a few months and then completely detached. Perhaps I could have oiled the knob more regularly but I did occasionally oil it and I shouldn't have to baby a kettle knob. The kettle is still usable but we have to be very particular in the way we lift the lid to keep the knob from lifting off and it often lifts off anyway. Recently (after about a year of using daily) it started to sometimes boil over even when it is not filled over the max line. The best kettle I have ever owned. Hands down. The design is amazing and stylish, being able to set the temperature to what I want and have it displayed clearly is super useful and makes my brewing experience flow that much easier. My favorite part of all the time is being able to hold the temperature for an extended period of time…absolutely genius. Something I would have never imagined that I would need but find myself constantly thankful to have every morning when brewing my coffee. It specifically comes in handy since I hand grind all my beans. Will be looking into the Opus though, the hand grinding is getting exhausting and really only useful for on-the-go.
