Between this and the loading screen, it takes a lot longer to turn on than an average kettle that only requires a flick of a button. I have 2 little gripes that don't make or break the kettle, but it would be nice if they were fixed. Number 1, the rubber feet aren't balanced and it rocks pretty badly. One of these days, I'll modify it, and I'm fine with doing that. The second, is that after you pour and go to replace the kettle in the base, it starts boiling again... And it's usually empty after the pour too. I wish it behaved differently, but once you get used to it,byou just put the kettle to the side instead, or turn off the base. For these reasons, it's actually a 4.5 star for me, but I've rounded up to 5.

The support replied to me and attached a picture of a lady holding the kettle and advised to hold it like on the picture.- The display looks ugly light square with lights go through plastic base in the dark instead of a circle it is lightened corner. Looks terrible.- The metal circle near the handle is hot and fingers sometimes burned- The feature of keeping water at the same level of temperature for 1 h does not make any sense having the tank only 0.9 litersThis kettle surprisingly bad in any way kettle can be bad. I upgraded from the stovetop Stagg (which I already loved) and am incredibly happy and impressed with the EKG. Being able to dial in the exact temperature is fantastic for coffee geeks like myself. I was honestly shocked at how fast the EKG heats up as well.Being a Fellow product, it's a given that this is both a stunning and ergonomic piece of equipment to have on your countertop. I went with the stone blue and maple color. It's truly gorgeous. The ergonomics are basically flawless. Just like the stovetop Stagg, the balance, feel, and control are amazing, especially for pourovers.I only have two very minor complaints:One is that dialing in the temperature with the kettle on the base is very slightly awkward as the kettle sits so close to the control knob. Have had a stovetop Fellows kettle, decided to go electric as the stovetop unit doesn’t warn when empty… I’ve hooked it off many times, thankfully without ruining anything!… Electric warms a full pot fairly quickly, holds heat well as you construct your pour over… replacing on the base as you go is easy, warms to set point as it cools swiftly. My criticism involves the multi fold models, and absurd price steps higher… this is already an overpriced item at $165-175, so goosing it $30-50 more for small digital features feels like a poor business decision. Give the consumer the value! This item costs about $15 ex China, why are you goring the ox further?? Give the consumer a break and help insure loyalty to brand. These kettles look amazing. They heat up super fast. However, due to their design they often leak out the top when pouring. This can be worked around once you are familiarized with the kettle, but anyone that uses it who is not “learned” will most likely splash or spill the water out. During the holidays this flaw was amplified as guests were using my coffee station, and this kettle, for the first time. Giving constant micromanaging instructions to everyone was not ideal. My spouse also spilled hot water out of the lid onto her hand holding her cup on first use. It doesn’t seal perfectly and the steam perforated holes need not be aligned pointing forward during use. All in all a 4 for form but a 2 for function.

It also has a memory function, which is nice, but it's also super quick and easy to set the temp. I like the stopwatch feature in theory, but I wish it had a timer option instead/in addition. It would also be nice if it could chirp or something when it reached temperature. I find the water heats up super quickly, as well - within a few minutes.Overall, it's a huge improvement in form factor, precision, and efficiency from my stovetop kettle and thermometer setup. I would say I wish I had purchased sooner but I'm really obsessed with the color so I'm glad I waited! Can definitely see myself purchasing another for the office this fall/winter.

Our second unit worked well except the wooden knob began cracking within a few months and then completely detached. Perhaps I could have oiled the knob more regularly but I did occasionally oil it and I shouldn't have to baby a kettle knob. The kettle is still usable but we have to be very particular in the way we lift the lid to keep the knob from lifting off and it often lifts off anyway. Recently (after about a year of using daily) it started to sometimes boil over even when it is not filled over the max line. I had had a Russell-Hobbs kettle for literally decades before it broke and was irreplaceable; so I bought another electric kettle of a famous brand and because of the handle position and weight of the kettlemy wrist hurt every time I went to pour water. My uncle has a Stagg electric kettle and raved about it so I decided to try it. I'm so glad I did. The balance is perfect. No more issues with my wrist, and though it doesn't hold as much water as some kettles do, no matter, I just refill it more often. The design is amazing and stylish, being able to set the temperature to what I want and have it displayed clearly is super useful and makes my brewing experience flow that much easier. My favorite part of all the time is being able to hold the temperature for an extended period of time…absolutely genius. Something I would have never imagined that I would need but find myself constantly thankful to have every morning when brewing my coffee.
