After swapping the handlebars on my hybrid a year ago, I found myself only using the lower grips of the GP5s which were on it. After seeing the redesign, I purchased these GP1s and they do not disappoint. All the things I like about the old design and even better. Ergon will continue to be my go to grips on all of my bikes. Cambria’s excellent customer service and fast shipping keeps me coming back for my cycling needs.

After swapping the handlebars on my hybrid a year ago, I found myself only using the lower grips of the GP5s which were on it. After seeing the redesign, I purchased these GP1s and they do not disappoint. All the things I like about the old design and even better. Ergon will continue to be my go to grips on all of my bikes. I bought Ergon grips to improve the comfort and riding experience of my Brompton C-Line Explore. EVO grips are a refinement of Ergon’s original GP-1 grip; the retainer bolt is also tightened from the bottom, for a nicer finished look. Pay attention to the fitting instructions: the grips must be inserted all the way to the built-in stop, because the clamp is on the outside of the grip, rather than inside. Because I have an “M” type handlebar on my Brompton, about 8mm had to be trimmed from the inside of the grip, which can easily be done with a sharp kitchen knife. This upgrade is superior to the stock grips. I no longer have hand fatigue on even short rides, which I had before replacing the original grips.
I was a bit reluctant at first to buy these as they are a bit expensive. However, they are good quality and fit well. After I set them up (took a couple rides to get them right) they did relieve the pressure on my carpal tunnel wrist. They’re comfortable & I think improve handling.
These are really nice and comfortable.
I had issues with my wrist and these really helped. THey’re very comfortable and are quite a bit larger in diameter than most grips, and combined with the wings your hand grips a vastly larger surface area thus distributing the force more.The bungs could be more substantial for carbon bars, as you only tighten the very end where the bar is weakest, so an expanding bung to add outward force would reduce the necessary torque to tighten the grips on.
