I bought this product along with the pre- lighten machine product by dylon. The instructions on the packet said the pour the product into the drum of the machine and wash as 90. Which I did. This then resulted in my washing machine not emptying and being filled with water. I had to manually empty the water out but still couldn't open the machine. So had to put it on many different cycles for it to open. Eventually with more of the pre lightening water everywhere in my kitchen and many towels used to mop it up, I was able to open the machine. My virtually new towels were bleached and my machine blocked! And the product had lightened a fraction andactually looked worse.I eventually had to call the washing machine engineer out as my machine still wasn't working and ... MoreI bought this product along with the pre- lighten machine product by dylon. This product is great. We used it for tie dying and the results were amazing. We mixed 5gm dye with 50ml hot water and dyed the fabric. We then sprinkled salt all over the fabric, sealed it in a food bag and left overnight. We then just rinsed in cold water and hung out to dry.
Easy to use if you follow the instructions to thoroughly mix the dye with warm water first. Used for tiedye and worked well following Dylon's own instructions. I mixed 2 of the colours I needed using 2 different colours each and it worked well - what you see on a tester swatch is pretty much what you get so no uncertainty about the colour being lighter or darker than you are expecting.
I found it very easy to use this dye. I used a large garden flexi tub and carried out the dying process outside as i didn't want any mess in my kitchen. I was dying a cotton/ramie tunic which had been stained with blue ink. The dye didn't cover the stain completely so I'm going to have another attempt with black dye.
Fabulous result, Very easy and simple to use. It’s made a top destined for the bin into a new one I can’t wait to wear again. Super pleased with the result and won’t hesitate to dye other things in future.
Used it to dye a Bagpuss costume for my teenage son. It was very pink, dyed easily and rinsed cleanly. Can’t complain. I used two sachets for a t shirt and pair of trousers but I could have got away with using one.
These dyes are fantastic for changing up your look, experimenting with colour to make something old look new or refreshing the colour of something that has faded. It’s really easy to use.
This dye worked brilliantly on a cap. It was tan coloured, and now is denim! It was easy to use, just make sure you have enough salt in the cupboard!
