From predictable day-to-day tasks to the thrilling unknowns of the backcountry roads, the Dual-Force is the replacement for those old dedicated pliers of yours, and then some. The Dual-Force's jaws operate like dedicated set of pliers, with a 2 position slip-lock design, and extra-large teeth for unparalleled control. This is a GREAT tool, and in the right environment it really shines! I am a multitool enthusiast and have a few - including Leatherman, Swiss Army, etc. They all have their time and place. For me, this Gerber hits the sweet spot for working around the house - plumbing, electrical, construction and yard work. (Spoiler: it is NOT well-suited to hiking.) The screwdriver is excellent, the pliers are beefy and strong, the knife is a solid performer, and the saw will tackle the small stuff. There's no tinkering with can openers, cork screws, parcel hooks or mini scissors... this is something to tackle the bigger jobs. And I love how well it does all that at a reasonable price! One glaring omission for me is an awl but the sharp point on the knife can be used in a pinch. ... MoreThis is a GREAT tool, and in the right environment it really shines! What a special knife. This knife is amazing! It has all kind of things on it like small fastener pliers, Regular pliers, Wire cutter and Wire stripper 3.25" plain edge blade, Saw, Medium flathead driver etc.. I do day-to-day tasks with this knife. It's durable and two times strength. Center-Axis bit driver operates like a real screwdriver, providing maximum torque and rotation. This multi tool has a case. I like the 2 1/2" plain edge blade the best and the Chisel edge. The ruler and bit storage are amazing too. This set is not to replace my regular tools but if I am on the road and I need something quick it has just about everything I would need. The picture doesn't do it justice. So much better in person. Worth every penny.

This Dual-Force Multi-Tool by Gerber has just about everything you could need and more in a multi-tool. It has pliers, a knife, a saw, a file, a screw driver with a phillips head bit that can be removed and a flat head put in it's place, it even has inches and centimeters imprinted along the inside edge. Oh, and it all tucks away and folds into a relatively small rectangle that slides into a nice case. The case has loops on it so you can attach this right to your belt. But that's not the most impressive thing. The thing that most impressed me about this multi-tool was the quality. This is built to last! Everything is heavy duty. Even the screw driver bits won't get stripped easily! It's relatively easy to open and close. It's also relatively easy to use each tool ... MoreThis Dual-Force Multi-Tool by Gerber has just about everything you could need and more in a multi-tool. I'm not even sure where to start, so I'm going to start at the source. Gerber is a historic brand well known for quality and innovation and for those unfamiliar with the name, it's part of Fiskars, known for superiority everywhere from grade school scissors to lawn tools and beyond. If they put so much finesse in a Kindergartner's paper cutting experience, you can imagine the smiles this fine multi-tool brings to its owner. I can imagine the pride the engineering team takes in having created this product. It features blunt-nose pliars with smooth, slip-lock action that makes them functional in a variety of widths and wire cutters that do the job easily. The onboard tools (knife blade that's plenty sharp, sawblade , long reach screwdriver and file/chisel) all feature locking mechanisms for safety. The #2 Phillips screwdriver head pulls out and can be subbed for the smaller Phillips and flat heads located on the ends of the handles. The file features one side cross-hatched and one side single line and is tipped by a sharp, acutely angled chisel that is substantial enough to dig into a hearty task. The tool feels substantial in your hand, not flimsy or awkward. It has smooth curves along the edges that won't hurt your hands or dig in when you exert strength to your project. It even features rulers on both handles in inches and centimeters. It comes with a carrying case that has an extra pocket if you want to add extra bits or other small items. Utter excellence.
The tool arrived well packaged and undamaged.I have to first say that I was expecting the Gerber Ultimate Survival Knife. That's what was requested. What I received was the Gerber Gear Dual-Force Multi-Tool, Blunt Nose Tool. The Multi-Tool is built very well. It has a great quality feel to it. I believe it will last for many years. It has the blunt nose pliers. Built into the handles is a saw, knife, screw driver, and small chisel. It also comes with a very nice belt loop case. The tool is made from solid stainless steel. All of the tool parts lock open providing safe use. I'm expecting years of good service from the tool. Even if I was expecting the knife, which I have more use for, this multi-tool will still be used many times over the years.
Gerber manufacturing dynamics have always intrigued me. Similar to SOG, I see strokes of genius, innovation, along with careless issues that make me shake my head. If Victorinox is the pinnacle, Leatherman consistently decent, reliable, I see Gerber as a mercurial force zig zagging between carelessness and true innovation. The Dual Force is a solid effort. It is well constructed, attractive, but God Forbid Gerber puts it all together... the carelessness shows. Nice robust tools that almost lock into place crisply, a file that rubs when returned to the closed position, a locking mechanism on the pliers that makes one have to use two hands and close one side first... These are easy things to design properly... Why Gerber? Did you take a page from SOG's manual on ... MoreGerber manufacturing dynamics have always intrigued me. These are easy things to design properly... Why Gerber? Did you take a page from SOG's manual on "tool clumping?"But alas, four stars are in order here! This pliers is nicely reinforced with the outer casing, the tools are robust, and the screwdriver is Gerber's trademark, full sized centerline... and YES! they let you Lock it! This is a full size multi tool that can be carried with a bit kit, extenders, sockets, and do the work of full size socket driver, driver, pliers and (with caveat) blade. The design is robust, and yes the metal on the pliers is softer so it grabs better... And they grab fairly well, at least as well as a standard pliers.I often wonder if I buy Gerber in anticipation of their little imperfections, and if they ever put it all together if it would be as interesting: The Arm Bar where perhaps the best drive of a small tool exists BUT fails to lock!! The nice square tool with exacto, file, blade, file and driver with the horrid oversized tabs... that cannot be opened properly... Alas the Center Force is a nice effort and IMO worth under $100 dollars... Think what it would cost to have a decent slip joint pliers, (decent, not great) a few nice screw drivers, and a few additional tools that are good in a pinch: (there are of course better knife blades, files, etc... And think of the price for the convenience of having those tools abbreviated into one unit and you will see how I perceive the value in dollars of this tool.
I got this multi tool to have around to eliminate trips to the toolbox. I trust Gerber for there quality and affordability and this multi tool didn’t disappoint. So far I have used the needle nose pliers the most and they work fantastic. The scissors are very sharp and cut very good. This is definitely a tool everyone should have laying around. I have another brand in my tackle box and it’s nowhere as good as the Gerber. Overall I love the versatility and the craftsmanship. I will be purchasing more for myself and for gifts. Gerber didn’t disappoint.
Opening the multi tool from the box, the carry case for the tool seems very nicely made. Nice and sturdy with multiple belt/ attachment points. Getting into the tool itself. It has good weight and construction. The tool features basic yet important attachments. Positive lockup up on the pliers, nice serrations to insure a positive grip. The handle encapsulates a knife, screwdriver, file and saw tooth knife. The knife is VERY sharp and would have no problem cutting paracord, fishing line, or other things you’d come across camping or such. I love how the screwdriver can use different bits so you can always add more customizing it to your specific need. The saw tooth knife also has very sharp teeth. To cap it all off the file has nice serrations.Over all the tool ... MoreOpening the multi tool from the box, the carry case for the tool seems very nicely made. Carry case is nice, allows for belt loop attachment and other mounting options. The tool isn’t too bulky, it fits in my hand nicely and is made of a nice metal.
This is a very sturdy and well built knife. This is basically a high value version of its more expensive brothers. If you're new to survival/tactical infantry style knives, this is a great first pick. It's all I personally need, although my husband has a couple of the more expensive survival knives. I keep this one in my purse. This knife is solid. The sheath is a little light weight but works. Sturdy blade, sharpening stone on back of sheath, fire starter....perfect for keeping in the truck or car for emergencies or for your bug out bag. You really can't go wrong with this survival knife.
This multi tool is pretty awesome. It's not flimsy at all, like some can be. With all the different bits and the saw blades, it's very convenient for not having to run back to the tool box. That feature comes in handy when needing to fix fence. The carrying case is perfect size, not too bulky at all. The tool has a little bit of weight to it, which isn't much but I noticed it's more than other brands, probably due to the sturdiness of it. If you're looking for a multi tool, this is one to get! The plier feature is even stout and grips well. It folds up perfectly.
