You probably can't have a serious conversation about premium nihonshu without mentioning Dassai. Smooth, refined, and balanced - this is a great one to try at least once. I usually like to have this with premium steaks seasoned with just salt. Perhaps a nice a5 ribeye if you are fancy.

This is definitely my favorite out of my Sake box subscription! Smooth, gentle and a wonderful depth of flavor. It smells and tastes lightly sweet, and the aftertaste lingers pleasantly. Dassai clearly makes delicious sake. After trying the 45, I definitely want to give Dassai 39 and 23 a go!

This is the second time I have tried the Dassai 45 and this was the first premium sake that I introduced to my hitherto non-sake drinking friends. They absolutely loved it and they didn't realize that sake could have such "complex flavor profiles". The Dassai 45 really piqued their interest and I think it could be a great way to introduce premium sake to those who don't really have much experience drinking sake.

Great for sipping, chilled, all by its lonesome, and also pairs well with everything Iβve thrown at it: Kara-age Momo, smoked baby back ribs, pork loin chop with miso glaze, chocolate chip cookies. The RPR is 45% but it tasted more like 46% to me. Just sayinβ. πππ
Stunning sake! So clean and balanced. Playful hint of sweet oranges and juicy apples on the nose and really beautiful fruity and floral notes on the palate. Very easy to drink and pair, one of my absolute favorites! I love this one with sushi.
One of the best junmai daiginjo out there and reasonably priced. It has been a favorite of mine in last decade. Clean, smooth and leave you with desire for more. Donβt serve at too low a temperature. A bit lower than room temp brings out the best of flavors.
Perfect for the price. Smooth, elegant, pairs with many dishes. Stick to the recommendation of drinking it cold! While not terrible when warmed up, it loses its specialness and becomes rather boring. One of my absolute all-time favorites!
