There’s a local sandwich called a “grinder”. I would recommend eating the sandwich but don’t try eating the Cuisinart Supreme Burr Grinder. I’ve been using the grinder for the last three weeks daily to grind whole coffee beans. I use the medium grind on the six cup setting. The grind is consistent with no large pieces in it. I've had inexpensive coffee grinders in the past but they never last. So I sought out a higher end product which Cuisinart has reputation of high quality products.I bought this in hopes of having something that could be long-lasting and also give me great tasting coffee because, as we all know, there's nothing like fresh ground coffee! This is easy to use, is smaller and streamlined. It does have a little bits of coffee grinds that can make a mess, but it's not a huge deal. I just keep my hand over the hole in the back of the bin that collects the ground coffee and then I tap it on the counter to get all the loose coffee grinds to the bottom of the container. And then I don't have too much spillage. It does make different grinds for pourover, french press or to ... MoreI've had inexpensive coffee grinders in the past but they never last. I do not find it to be overly loud when i use it. You can grind as much or as little as you need. So far i am very pleased!!

We received this grinder as a gift and are overall quite happy with it. I like the ease with which you can adjust the coarseness and amount of the grind, the storage capacity of the beans and the speed at which it grinds. It's also quite noisy. When I want to grind coffee early in the morning, I have to take it to the basement as it wakes people sleeping upstairs! It sounds like someone is weed-wacking in your kitchen! I feel the storage of the ground coffee could be designed to be less messy and easier to access. It's plastic, so there seems to be quite a bit of static generated by the grinding process which makes the ground coffee stick to the sides and the lid of the holder. When you remove the lid, it falls out all over the counter. Overall, it does what we need ... MoreWe received this grinder as a gift and are overall quite happy with it. This is our first foray into the world of grinding coffee beans. You get older, the kids are gone and you find different ways to occupy your time. Our latest is getting away from the coffee pods and griding our own coffee beans. This unit does the trick. The multiple settings is useful and the hubby and I are experimenting with finding just the right grind for our beans. I like mine a little more fine and he likes his less fine. The unit itself is sturdy and easy to use and clean. I do wish the collection cup was anti-static, but it's not a huge deal. It is loud, but there is nothing you can do about that. We usually grind our coffee on Sunday for the week and keep the freshly ground coffee in glass jars to keep it fresh. This seems to work for us. My son bought this grinder for me several years ago. It's identical to one he had been using for some time. I use it for a French Press so I use a coarse grind and for that it does OK. However for some reason the marks on the grinder that tell you how coarse or fine the grind is all rubbed off somehow even though I really don't clean it. They just disappeared so you sort of just have to guess where the settings are. Recently I've had problems with it not grinding at all. At first I thought it may be that a bean just got stuck somewhere and dumping out all the beans and dislodging any that seemed stuck seemed to fix it. But it continued to happen. The motor tried to work if you held the button down but it wouldn't grind normally. So I started cleaning it out the best ... MoreMy son bought this grinder for me several years ago. At first I thought it may be that a bean just got stuck somewhere and dumping out all the beans and dislodging any that seemed stuck seemed to fix it. But it continued to happen. The motor tried to work if you held the button down but it wouldn't grind normally. So I started cleaning it out the best I could as the manual mentioned that if you run into this that may be the problem so I did and I was able. to get it grinding again. But this has continued to happen. Unfortunately there is no way to take it apart and do a thorough cleaning, you mostly have to use the brush and do the best you can to dislodge debris and hope it works. The last couple of days it's seized up again and no amount of cleaning has been able to get it running again. The only thing I can surmise is that the internal mechanism has been clogged with coffee debris and can't be dislodged since it's in a place you can't get to in order to clean it. So if you buy this grinder I think you'll be happy with it but know it's got what I consider to be a design flaw which makes it last only 3 or 4 years.
I had a Cuisinart coffee maker with the built-in burr grinder that I absolutely loved. It was refurbished and still lasted over 12 years. It finally died a few weeks ago and it's not a good time to replace it so I pivoted to my French press and cold brew. However, my only grinder was a cute hand mill that was lovely for camping or a special occasion French Press got really tedious to use on the daily. I think I love this grinder on its own even better than built into the brewer. The micro grounds that build up in the brewer have to be swept out every time you refill the hopper on the coffee maker but this grinder manages to spit them out at the end of the grind in a clump that sticks to the top and side of the thing that catches the gounds. I just sweep them out ... MoreI had a Cuisinart coffee maker with the built-in burr grinder that I absolutely loved. It was refurbished and still lasted over 12 years. I bought this grinder at the start of the pandemic in 2020. I had always been interested in trying to make better coffee and every video I watched said to start off with buying a grinder. I remember logging on and coming across $200,$300,$500 grinders! I genuinely thought I needed to buy something that expensive to make good coffee. I told myself I'd start off small and found this Cuisinart grinder. BRO, this grinder was an absolute game changer. I had no idea grind sizes played such a roll into the type of coffee you want to make. It's so beginner friendly too by presenting you the grind options. I've made coffee with a regular coffee pot, french press, pour over, and moka pot. So after MANY years of using the old school blade grinders, fill and hold down, I decided to get a new grinder. I was tired of the inconsistant coffee I ended up with, good one day, awful the next. Originally I was just looking for another blade grinder with a built in timer, but opted for a burr grinder with a hopper. The only thing about this, is you don't have control of exactly how much coffee gets ground each time since they go strictly by time, not weight or volume and they hit blank spots some times. We typically make a full pot, filled to the top, so really 14 cups. I initially purchased the Hamilton Beach grinder of about the same price but it only goes to 14 and doesn't hold very many beans, maybe 2 grinds worth. I was tired of the inconsistant coffee I ended up with, good one day, awful the next. I was happy the Cuisinart had an 18 cup setting but both needs 2 grinds to get enough coffee, one at 18 and one at 8 to get the coffee level up to 14 cups worth. Since I got this grinder, I've started buying the 40 packs of Melitta filters, they have measuring lines printed on the inside of the filter! So, for 14 cups I fill slightly above the 12 cup line. These are must for these grinders!!! So PROS: I like the Cuisinart for how much coffee it holds,vs. Hamilton Beach. But the Cuisinart has a wonky setup for setting the grind. which means moving the whole hopper. After much experimentation, we've settled on the 4th click from the left, which leaves the hopper in an odd position my wife did not like, ha OCD! Also the Cuisinart has again, a wonky control for the timer,a slide bar, which after a few weeks of use I see is already readingoff a bit to the right. The HB on the other hand, has very nice knobs, that turn for the grinds and timer. Both require 2 cycles to get enough coffee for a full pot despite the markings on timer. It also takes up less space on the counter.Setting the Cuisinart to 18 cups yields about 10 cups as shown on the filter measuring lines. But as they both gravity feed the cuisinart hits less blank spots than the HB since it holds more coffee. With the HB it pays to fill it to the top each time, to avoid it just spinning and grinding nothing for seconds at a time, though the Cuisinart also spins fast and slow depending on how the beans feed in. These burr grinder do give a more consistant grind and the coffee has been good every time, except in the beginning, since it wasn't actually putting out enough coffee, resulting in a weak brew. Thats what put the wife off at 1st. It take about the same amount of time to fill the pot with water as to run the 2 cycles it takes to get enough ground coffee. So, it all happens simultaneuously saving time! So I'm sticking with Cuisinart for now, and hope sliding the quantity adjustment back and forth every day doesn't cause it to fail. What I need to do is grind 12 twice and see how that measures up and then I wouldn't need to touch it. So overall happy with it, but dang, it is very noisey 1st thing in the morning! Makes quite a racket!
This grinder made it a year of multiple grinds per day before dying. This morning the beans stopped grinding. The motor ran but no grinding! The calibration dial also stopped catching at each selection and spun like a wheel! But, there are other issues with the design we would like to share. We used a standard medium size grind mostly. The grind size was fairly consistent with the major exception that fine powder accumulated in the corner of the connection from the grinder to the ground reservoir (the small opening where the freshly ground coffee pours from). It would cake up so bad we would have to take a fine instrument and scrape it out. Inside the ground reservoir/plastic ground holder the same thing happened ... so you either deal with that in your coffee mug ... MoreThis grinder made it a year of multiple grinds per day before dying. Inside the ground reservoir/plastic ground holder the same thing happened ... so you either deal with that in your coffee mug as a muddy dust or scrape it out as best you can. Normal cleaning activity was average. The hopper holds about 1/2 pound of beans which was plenty. We didn't expect a lot for $60 but to deal with this masssive engineering flaw AND have it dir after a year is a bit much. And for $60 I'm not sure it's worth having repaired. We tried to save a few bucks and this time will spend much more so we aren't left with a broken gadget after a year.
