Blade is only held on with a weak magnet on the back of the handle. Barely stayed on while I was cutting cardstock. Both piece are now lost almost immediately after getting it and I have to spend MORE money on this overpriced item. Waste of money. You’ll spend less buying the more expensive Fiskars one cause it stays together. Note that means there’s a tiny razor blade floating around in my house somewhere.

I'm so glad I got this trimmer. I am just not at all accurate with scissors. I can't cut in a straight line! All my projects ended up looking just a little wonky. This trimmer cuts through Smart Vinyl with ease, making my projects look sharp and nice. It has an arm that comes out to hold bigger pieces steady and the rail lifts to load the item you're cutting. It feels nice and sturdy, too.

I have used this trimmer ever since I started on my Cricut Journey 3 yrs. ago. I think that the blades are sharp and last a long time. I use my trimmer almost everyday. But my trimmer gets a real workout when I embark on my large scale gift projects. Making over 100++ give away gifts for members of my congregation. My trimmer takes a beating during those times and it never disappoints. Literally cutting hundreds of small pieces of cardstock and it pulls through everytime. Yes, you do eventually have to replace the blade, but it's far and few between. I have a Fiskar trimmer and it just does not hold up like the Cricut Trimmer. I have to change the Fiskar trimmer blade after about 40-50 cuts, but not the Cricut. On the recommendation of a YouTube card making video by MayMay Made It, a couple of months ago, I decided to give the trimmer a try, especially when it was on sale for half price! I have just ordered another trimmer as a gift for a friend. The trimmer is accurate and easy to use. The blades are very sharp and cut through, it seems like everything. the only time I experienced a problem was with thin paper. By simply putting another layer under the thin paper i got a wonderful clean cut. The blades are reasonably priced and seem to last longer than any other blade. I use the scoring blade when I need 1/16 th inch score lines. I also like that the line is very fine. For anyone purchasing the trimmer, they may want to purchase the scoring blade , that comes with an extra cutting blade. This trimmer is also great for the beginner paper crafter, who perhaps has not yet invested in a scoring board.
I love how easy this is to use. I’m going to give you 2 Major pros for me & 1 huge Con....First let’s talk blades. I don’t want to spend $16.99 on a 12x12matt, or buy the 12x12 3pk for $44.99 so I bought the 12x24 2pk for $23.99 & the blade on this is so darn strong/sharp it cut the 2 matts in half giving me 4 12x12 matts! I don’t understand how the 1star reviewer can say it doesn’t cut but instead it ripped her paper. Maybe she got a bad apple because it was able to cut the GREEN Cricut matts easy. Okay, so I’m very new to all things Cricut, I was Cricut stupid actually, I never knew what this machine was, I thought it was a special type of crafters printer*cough* yes I know how dumb. My ONLY con is that I dropped it (and my house has floors that open to another dimension when you drop something) The housing for the blade popped off and it could be in Westeros, Dorn or even beyond the wall for all I know.(no my house isn’t messy, things seem to roll or bounce to the most oddest of places) Anyway I haven’t much luck finding a replacement housing, I may need to invest in a new one and figure a way to rig the other to be a scorer only cause it’s is easy to find replacement blades or the pack that comes with a scorer “blade”. Alrighty you crafty crew I hope I was able to give a little insight based on how I need/use the Cricut portable trimmer.
Not completely happy with the blade in this cutter. I cut 6 pieces of cardstock and the blade started tearing the paper. Put another blade in and it works fine. My sister also ordered one and had the same problem. They need to come with a decent blade in them!
Not worth the price. Just buy the blades when needed. The score edge cuts too deep and through the cardstock or scrapbook paper, rips right through both.Also, the place under the trimmer where it says to store them? Well, they are not secure. I thought maybe they needed to be slid into the slot more firmly, but they will not snug into the slots. They fall out when turning the trimmer back back over.So, the score edge is worthless and acts a dull blade and cuts through cardstock and scrapbook paper. Find someplace else to store the extra blades where little ones won't get them because they are not held under the trimmer.
I bought this as a way to easily and quickly cut pages for a zine I was making. Usually I don't write reviews for products, but I had only owned this for like a week before it started horribly tearing and ripping instead of cutting. I hadn't even cut that many pages. Additionally, I wasn't cutting that thick of paper. I was mostly cutting printer pages. I would recommend just paying a little bit more to get a different paper cutter. sad that I wasted my time on this one.
i bought this cutter and it has been the worse cutter i have used. the blade literally shreds my paper. it is not a clean cut at all. the only thing is i called cricut to let them know and they sent me a new one but after about 20 cuts it still does the same. i changed the blade but did not also long. i used two different cutters. one was my old Marvy cutter and the shredded looking one was my brand new cricut portable cutter
