First impressions: I definitely had to try this cult product of the korean skincare industry. It’s not as sticky as I thought it would be. A little goes a long way. It’s a nice thick essence that sinks into the skin and provides a really moisturizing effect. Final Thoughts: I’ve been using this on all my night routines for a few months now and I can say it’s quite soothing and moisturizing. I like it specially on my retinol nights when my skin needs an extra calming and moisturizing product to keep my skin ready for tretinoin. I like it and its affordable for the amount of product that it comes. I will repurchase it.

Bad for acne

I really wanted to love this product because I see nothing but great reviews everywhere! It’s viral on TikTok, and everyone seems to adore it, but unfortunately, it’s a hard NO for me. I have combination, acne-prone skin and currently use Anua products. I wanted to add this for some extra moisture and that glass skin look, but my skin reacted negatively. I should have patch tested first, which was my mistake. After using it, I woke up with small, red, itchy bumps all over my face. I believe the issue is my allergy to dust, as this product contains dust mites, which I didn’t realize until after ordering and using it. Healing Broken Moisture/Skin Barrier

I was previously using Hyaluronic acid (HA) from The Ordinary (TO) but this Cosrx Snail Mucin is just so so good. I switched to this serum because although my skin had cleared up with HA, a windy day completely dried my skin out and everything came back 10x worse :( TO still works but I’ve found that Snail Mucin really keeps your skin moisturised without it feeling like it has dried out your skin which is something HA feels like in general regardless of how you apply it - HA is still a super good budget option and it works really well!! However, this serum is just top tier, I would advise you buy HA if you need to use a lot on your skin because I go through Snail Mucin very quickly and it does become costly. Since adding this to my routine, I only have a PM routine. 1) I wash my face with just water at night (I still use a cleanser but only weekly.), 2) apply Snail Mucin to slightly wet face, 3) then apply Eucerin Urea Repair once my skin feels sticky. I apply more Urea repair to my driest areas like a face mask so that when I wake up in the morning my face is still moisturised This serum has really made a difference in healing my moisture barrier, though it is expensive I’ve rated it 5 stars because I think it has been completely worth it for me

I've heard over the years how great it was but wasn't sure if it was legit or just a gimmick and held out on buying something like this. It's not a gimmick, you'll see the results fast! The product's texture is gooey but spreads nicely. There's no perfume added to it which is great and it doesn't feel caked on after applying. It will dry your skin out at first due to a chemical in it, that's the point of it. You apply this before your moisturizer and sunscreen. Look, I don’t know what kind of magic is in this stuff, but it has completely repaired my skin barrier in a week! I was at my wits end with “skincare”,as I had suddenly undergone a skin change (hormones?) and began dealing with textured and inflamed skin. NOTHING would help. That is key), follow it with the moisturizer and add the double moisture face cream by La Roche-Posay. At night, I switch out the double moisture cream for the Avène Cicalfate+, and wake up to baby’s butt smooth (and soothed) skin! Whatever pores I had before this new routine are nonexistent and my face is plump, smooth, and radiant. I’ve started getting compliments on my skin again which lets me know I’m back on track. Putting all other skincare products aside, the snail mucin essence and moisturizer are my absolute desert island HG products and I will not ever be without them! CosRX, please NEVER discontinue these items! On a side note, if you are a dry skin girly like me, you might need to add a moisturizer on top of the snail mucin moisturizer, especially in winter. It’s not quite enough hydration for me, but other moisturizers glide on top of it like a dream and I’ve never had any issues with pilling. Anyway, if you’re on the fence, just do yourself a favor and get it! Your face will thank you.

Retinol is nice! The essence is fine.

I liked using the retinol! I didn't start out using it very often (like ~1 per week), but my skin seemed to tolerate it well (no irritation, no purging). The bottle is just very small and there's not that much retinol in there. But I think it's a nice 'beginner' retinol if it's something you want to try but don't want to commit to a really expensive/large amount! There is sooo much essence compared to the amount of retinol. It seems moisturizing when you first apply it, but I'm not sure it really added anything substantial to my daily skincare routine. So for these reasons, I think the essence is just fine (relatively cheap, but not a holy grail item). This did not put me off but maybe it'll be an issue for others. I cycle through different skincare routines depending on my skin needs so I'm still trying to get through my 2 bottles! I bought this back in October 2023 and I'm still on my first bottle.
