While deciding what I was going to include in this review, I had to think to what the primary reason would be for getting this memory. The speed? The RGB? I decided to focus mainly on the specs since RGB is offered by many vendors. I also opted not to overclock for a couple of reasons. 1) expediency of getting this review published. 2) Overclocks are dependent on a lot of factors that may not apply to each person. Thus, my testing was performed at stock JEDEC speeds and XMP 2.0 speeds. The tests were performed on an ASRock Z370 Extreme4 (BIOS 4.20) - i5-8400 - EVGA RTX 2070 Super (30.0.14.7212) - Windows 10 v20H2 (19042.1288) - Baseline memory is Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2666 (CMK16GX4M2A2666C16R) - CPU-Z 1.96.1 was used to confirm timings. Graphic benchmarks were conducted using 3DMark Advanced Edition, Time Spy v1.2 Application benchmarks were conducted using a custom test set from PCMark10: Photo Editing, Rendering & Visualization, and Video Editing. Long story short: Compared to DDR4-2666, there was no significant difference. While there is other data out there that suggests otherwise, especially when it comes to an increase in gaming framerates, my testing doesnt bear that out. NOTE: Per my data shown in the video, Yes, there is a general yet miniscule uptick across the board when comparing the respective XMP speeds of 2666 to 3200. But it only makes itself apparent in benchmarks. And it is so small, that its effectively zero when factoring in a margin of error. For an additional test, I added in all four sticks. The system recognized the faster memory, but for all intents and purposes, ran 2666MHz across the board. I then reran all the exact same tests. Results didnt reflect a notable increase. So the takeway here is "When adding RAM to increase the existing amount, there is little to no value spending more money for faster RAM when it's only going to run as fast as the slowest RAM already installed. (This refers to speed (2666 -vs- 3200) and not timing specs like CAS & RAS.) There is a possibility that the locked CPU may be the bottleneck and that on a faster, unlocked CPU there could be improvements in any given test. However, I can only report on this particular test rig. The iCue software is interesting. I have a Corsair RGB keyboard, mouse, and wireless headset. And now RAM. It can control all of it. Keeping this respective to the memory... To address various designs of motherboards, the software allows you to manually set the layout of the DIMM slots on the mobo, such as 2 total slots, two on each side of CPU, all four on one side, etc. it also lets you determine which slots contain the RGB-enabled DIMMs. It also lets you arbitrarily virtually flip the DIMM 180°. Meaning that on my mobo, while iCue showed both illumination sequences going top to bottom, on my mobo, one slot was lighting up top-to-bottom, but the other one was going bottom-to-top. iCue allowed me to virtually flip it so they were in the same sequence shown in the software. (This is all shown in my video)

In my personal opinion these are the perfect ram sticks if you are looking for a lighted option. The build quality is top notch and the overall appearance of the sticks are great. They look fantastic in a glass case and are really a nice addition to any machine. One thing that I really noticed was how uniformly the color is dispersed through the sticks. There were no hot spots or cool spots on the sticks in regards to color. Some of the custom lighting options really shine when 4 sticks are used together. That would be my only recommendation is that if you wanted to take full advantage of the lighting, you should use 4 sticks in your board. Overall, these are fantastic sticks if you are doing a RGB build. Been using the Corsair Vengeance RGB in my main rig now for over a month. Ram works great. The Ram works at advertised speeds, the heatspeader is nice and well built and very effective at keeping the Ram cool. The main reason you buy this Ram is because of the Corsair ICUE support. The LED like all Corsair ARGB lighting has a nice soft glow (IE not overtly bright) which I love you can enjoy all the colors without turning your rig/room into a disco ball. Loading the ICUE software allows for some of the easiest way to coordinate all your RGB in you build. I bought two pairs of these 32Gb kits. With one pair installed I can enable xmp in my bios - Gigabyte B660 Gaming X AX motherboard - and they work at full rated speed of 3600Mhz. However when I install the second pair I have to disable xmp and run them at 2133Mhz just to get Windows to boot. So unfortunately running 4 sticks of these DDR4 sticks on this particular motherboard doesn’t work at the rated speeds which is a bummer as I really like the product and they work great with just one pair.
After running my previous computer for 10 years, I decided it was time to upgrade. I wanted quality, budget friendly RAM that I could expect to run for a long time. I liked that many people had success overclocking the RAM, as that is usually a good indicator that it will last a long time if used as designed. Installation was simple, as was using XMP to get it up to rated spec. The default RGB profile is a moving rainbow of colors. Not really my thing, but the RGB setup is compatible with my MSI motherboard, so my custom color profile works from the moment I turn on my computer. Overall it is running exactly as expected, and I suspect it will for a long time yet.
Overall I like this ram. Being a Corsair fan, I have not purchased anything Corsair that has failed or did not perform as intended. This memory is no different. It looks slick and the RGB lighting looks fantastic! The black aluminum heat spreader has a very nice pattern and the RGB lighting is just the Cheri on top. Let's face it, many of us want the most performance out of every piece we buy and install in our computers but we also want it to look cool too! These sticks run their rated speed, run in XMP and just work. No-fuss at all. I run 32GB of G. Skill in my gaming PC and after installing the 16GB of Corsair, I did not detect any difference in performance. Both the G. Skill and Corsair ram are DDR4 3200. My G. Skill cost a hell of a lot more though. After benchmarking the ram I found performance on par with ram of this class and I also found that the ram was completely stable under XMP. That is not always the case but the Corsair performed well. Is it the fastest memory out there? Nope. Does it do what it's supposed to do? Sure does. It won't break the bank either. I am not the biggest fan of the cue software so I opted to use a 3rd party program to control the RGB. The lighting on these sticks is fantastic and easily controlled without the bloat of Cue. I will be knocking one egg off for the software and that the timings are a little slower than the Pro model (which is cheaper).
I Installed this into and Asus based i7-7700k system. They defaulted to 1600MHz (DDR3200) but operated fine. I changed the XMP profile in the UEFI to a listed 1800MHz (DDR3600) and it booted up just fine at their rated speeds. The RAM ran great on the performance end and Corsair RAM has always been solid for me. The RGB lighting is amazing as usual. Very bright and vibrant colors with nice smooth switching. But here we run into the caveat, but for some it could be a big one. I could not get this to show up in iCue. This is a real issue because this means you can't even turn the lighting off. There are times when I need darkness and while it is great that these are vibrant, there needs to be a way to tone it down. I ran an update on iCue to no avail and when I add two other sticks, those show up but never these two. The RAM states it should work so I hope Corsair is working this issue out, but I had to take a star off for it, for now. So now I have these two running with two other sticks of Corsair Vengeance PRO RGB running at DDR3200 speeds and they are playing well together. If Corsair can fix this detection issue or I find a fix, I will be sure to come back and update. That would make this a five star all day. Thanks!
Pleased to report this memory offers stable results every way it's been tested. Several years ago we had a kit of Corair Vengeance that was DOA. This current offering appears to be a solid design. If you're using this RAM with an Intel CPU you may notice only a little difference in performance between default speed and XMP. Ryzen CPUs, however, will likely benefit more noticeably from the XMP setting when gaming as well as certain productivity apps. In games, for example, the memory speed and timing may not matter much on low to medium graphics settings, but if you crank up the graphics detail then 3200 MHz /CAS 16 will definitely give you smoother gameplay by avoiding the telltale micro-stutter you experience when running sub-optimal speed/timings. over the last few months i have tried over & over to lower CAS Latency by raising voltage up to ~1.38v but they just do not operate at anything below 16. i was able to get the core speed up to 3333MHz but that amount of difference vs 3200MHz @ 16 CL is undetectable performance-wise. neither ASUS' Armoury Crate/Aura or MSI's Mystic Light could recognize and control the LEDs on this kit. but to be fair Corsair doesn't claim they are compatible with anything but iCUE. they are lower profile than some available kits so may help with CPU cooler clearance, but definitely not "low profile" so be careful to measure & compare before purchasing. if not looking for the best performance available and/or if you are another Corsair obsessive these could be a good kit. but if you ... Moreover the last few months i have tried over & over to lower CAS Latency by raising voltage up to ~1.38v but they just do not operate at anything below 16. i was able to get the core speed up to 3333MHz but that amount of difference vs 3200MHz @ 16 CL is undetectable performance-wise. neither ASUS' Armoury Crate/Aura or MSI's Mystic Light could recognize and control the LEDs on this kit. but to be fair Corsair doesn't claim they are compatible with anything but iCUE. they are lower profile than some available kits so may help with CPU cooler clearance, but definitely not "low profile" so be careful to measure & compare before purchasing. if not looking for the best performance available and/or if you are another Corsair obsessive these could be a good kit. but if you do use other Corsair RGB products and do not want extra bloatware just to control your RAM LEDs i would recommend looking for a better option.
