Wasn't sure what to expect from a 7.1 wireless headset, as I normally just wear earbuds when I play games, but figured I'd give a 7.1 headset a shot; I am Pretty happy I did. I was expecting the headset to weigh quite a bit since it was wireless (battery etc) but i was pleasantly surprised to find that this headset was very lightweight. The sound was very good and the presets seemed well balanced. The unit was easy to sync up via both bluetooth and the wireless dongle that came with it. Charging really didn't take long at all with the supplied usb C cable. pros: The headset is able to connect w/bluetooth [5.2] or wireless[2.4ghz], comes with a wireless adapter to use it right out of the box if you don't have bluetooth. I like that when you put the mic up, it shuts off and down it turns on, a nice feature that it tells you as well when the mic is off or on. Fast charging, long lasting battery. Lightweight design (9.4oz [266g]). The Ear cushions for me felt soft and well formed to my ears. Nicely placed volume control. The 7.1 sounds really good, I ran a bunch of youtube 7.1 testing vids and the sound positioning sounded quite good! Decent software, that allows for firmware updates, equalizer, setup of auto shutoff timing, as well as some other on screen options that you can turn on (battery indicator and so on). Playing FPS games I feel like I can detect where people are at a lot better than before which is also pretty nice. cons: Cant really come up with many bad things to say about this headset, ....maybe that the design is closed back, but not 100% noise cancelling, so you can both find yourself talking too loud sometimes or you might hear more things going on in your house than you want, i personally don't mind this but i know some of my friends that either are 100% for noise cancelling headsets or 100% open back so they can hear everything around them outside of what they are focusing on, so figured it should be mentioned. overall, If you are looking for an affordable entry level wireless headset, with 7.1 surround, I would recommend this one without hesitation. I know I will be enjoying this for awhile to come!

One of the coolest things about the HS55 is its wireless capabilities. You can switch between low latency 2.4GHz wireless or Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, giving you the freedom to move while you play. And with a signal distance of up to 50 feet, you don't have to worry about losing your connection if you wander too far. The sound of this thing is really impressive. Custom 50mm neodymium audio drivers deliver stunning sound quality and range, and Dolby Audio 7.1 surround sound for PC and Mac adds immersion. The microphone is also very good - it picks up your voice clearly and you can mute it if needed. Another thing worth mentioning is the Corsair iCUE software. This opens up a lot of sound settings so you can customize your experience to your liking. Overall, I would recommend the Corsair HS55 Wireless Gaming Headset to anyone serious about gaming. Whether you're gaming on PC, Mac or mobile, these headphones will give you an immersive gaming experience you'll never forget.

However, to truly enjoy this headset you must download the iCUE software through the corsair website to explore the full potential such as firmware updates, sound and microphone settings and other customizations. The iCUE interface is easy to use and makes updates a breeze. Being the owner of a PS4 and a PS5, I’ve used this headset to play a few games on both consoles. The connection for both systems can only be made via the usb cable. The sound is crisp and loud especially with the FPS and action games. But those headsets truly shine with the wireless receiver dongle connected to a PC. I have a decent gaming desktop and tried a few 5.1 action games and the sound blew me away. The surrounding sensation is on par with the best headset I’ve owned that cost much more. To better gauge the capabilities of this system without the distractions of playing a game, I listened to several sample 7.1 and 5.1 videos on YouTube, and I was impressed with the sound separation. To be honest, I was more impressed with the 5.1 tests. Bluetooth connection is easy to establish. I set it up with my phone and made a few calls to test the effectiveness of the microphone and the listeners had no complaints. I’m not much of a talker while playing online games but the few exchanges I had with other players were clear and problem free according to them. Music quality came out great as well with clear highs and solid lows. This headset is well designed. The oversized soft earpads make wearing those headphones comfortable for long hours. The pressure around the ears is minimal and tolerable for long periods of time. Clever use of the volume dial to change the equalizer settings by pressing it. With a short press of the power button, you can easily switch between the wireless usb receiver and Bluetooth depending on your set up. I was also impressed with the good battery performance. I used the headset for 3 days straight for at least 6 hours a day playing videogames, listening to music and podcasts and making phone calls and I still had power left. This model does not have a noise cancelling feature but the oversized earpads do a decent job at keeping the outside noise away and it’s good enough for me. To conclude, I will say that the quality build and performance of the Corsair HS55 make it a great buy for all kinds of gamers, from beginners to experts. The price is right, the options are plentiful, and it delivers where it counts.

Okay, this could have been a very different review. I was going to give these a two star rating but I said Corsair wouldn't put out a budget headset that sounds like I have two cardboard boxes on the sides of my head... would they? I am happy to report that they did not do that (after some tweaking). The first thing is the instructions are a bit interesting. Either my medication has my reading comprehension way down or they need to give more information that is clearer than what is in the provided instructions. For example, going between connecting with Bluetooth or wireless 2.4Ghz with the USB adapter was interesting. Sometimes it would flip between sources and sometimes it wouldn't. No biggie as I said earlier. I'll blame myself for that. Now, I connected these to ... MoreOkay, this could have been a very different review. No biggie as I said earlier. I'll blame myself for that. Now, I connected these to three different computers using the dongle (you can connect to a PC via Bluetooth but you will not get any sound so don't bother) The EQ settings were set to the same place on all the computers yet these headphones sounded different on all of them. Could not replicate the same sound quality across the board with all of the computers. Odd but not a deal breaker yet. My cellphones on the other hand was a experience. My LG V30 makes these headphones sound very, very good when playing music of a few genres (rock, rap, classical and basically anything pre 2005). The daily driver is a Samsung S21 Ultra and let's just say don't bother trying to listen to music via Bluetooth with these. You will be disappointed. I used the same app on both phones to listen to music on the phones and well, the gaming part holds up but don't try and jam with these on. If you buy these for gaming you won't be disappointed unless you have had a really good pair of headphones before than I'd spend some extra money and upgrade to a higher model by corsair.
The Corsair HS55 Wireless Gaming Headphones(white) are an excellent choice for a wireless gaming headset. First, I would like to start by saying these are extremely light. When I first removed them from the packaging I immediately noticed how light weight they are. The sound profile out of the box is pretty good, but with the iCUE software you are given access the an equalizer which will allow you to dial in the sound for your preference. You can also select the EQ presets and right from the headset itself. Also, they have Dolby Atmos for headphones which works very well while in game. it works really well with racing and FPS games. The mic works well enough for in games chatting, and also phone calls. I didn't have any issues with people not being able to hear me. ... MoreThe Corsair HS55 Wireless Gaming Headphones(white) are an excellent choice for a wireless gaming headset. I wore them for a couple hours at a time and never had any fatigue or pain. I wear glasses while gaming, and headsets can sometimes cause pressure/pain, but that's not the case here. Battery life is pretty impressive. I'm current on day 4 of browsing YouTube and gaming for a few hours at a time and they still have a "medium" charge, which is about 50%. Another really cool feature about this gaming headset is that you can pair them via Bluetooth with your phone and still use them while gaming via the USB dongle. This allows you to easily accept calls while gaming without having to remove the headset. I discovered this by accident while gaming and my wife called me. Overall I'm very impressed for what you get in this price range for wireless gaming headsets, and would definitely recommend them to anyone considering a wireless gaming headset. Likes: 1.) Very comfortable and lightweight 2.) Ability to customize sound via iCUE app 3.) Good battery life Dislikes: N/A

In this review, we'll take a closer look at the design, sound quality, and features of the Corsair HS55 WIRELESS gaming headphones. The Corsair HS55 WIRELESS gaming headphones have a sleek and minimalistic design. The headset is primarily black with a few accents of gray on the ear cups and headband. The ear cups are large and fit comfortably around the ears, providing a good level of noise isolation. The headband is padded and adjustable, making it easy to find a comfortable fit. The HS55 also has a detachable microphone that can be easily removed when not in use. The headphones are made of durable plastic and feel sturdy in the hand. The ear cups are attached to the headband with a metal slider that allows for easy adjustment. The headphones also have a few buttons located on the left ear cup that allow for volume adjustment and microphone muting. The buttons are well-placed and easy to find while wearing the headphones. One downside to the design of the HS55 is that it doesn't fold up for easy storage. This can make it difficult to transport the headphones when traveling. The Corsair HS55 WIRELESS gaming headphones offer good sound quality for the price point. The headphones have 50mm neodymium drivers that produce clear and detailed sound. The bass is also well-represented, making explosions and gunfire in games sound impactful. The headphones also have a good level of noise isolation, which helps to immerse the user in the game they are playing. However, the noise isolation isn't perfect, and some outside noise can still be heard when wearing the headphones. The HS55 also has a few sound presets that can be selected by pressing and holding the volume button. The presets include Bass Boost, Flat, and Voice. These presets can help to enhance the audio experience depending on the content being listened to. The Corsair HS55 WIRELESS gaming headphones connect to devices via Bluetooth. The headphones have a range of up to 40 feet, which is impressive. The wireless connectivity is reliable, and I didn't experience any drops in signal during testing. The HS55 also has a battery life of up to 16 hours, which is great for a wireless headset at this price point. The headphones charge via a micro-USB cable, and the charging port is located on the left ear cup. The Corsair HS55 WIRELESS gaming headphones have a detachable microphone that is easy to remove when not in use. The microphone is flexible and can be adjusted to the user's preference. The microphone also has noise-cancelling technology that helps to reduce background noise. The microphone quality is good for a headset in this price range. Voices are clear and easy to understand, and the microphone doesn't pick up too much background noise. The Corsair HS55 WIRELESS gaming headphones have a few features that are worth noting. One of these features is the ability to connect to multiple devices simultaneously. This means that the headphones can be connected to a PC and a phone at the same time, allowing the user to easily switch between devices without having to reconnect.
One of the nice features of these headphones is their wireless connectivity either via USB dongle or Bluetooth. However, at least on a Mac, the headphones must be connected via the USB dongle in order for the Corsair software to recognize the headphones. I was connecting them via Bluetooth and the software would not recognize them. The sound quality is exceptional. The headphones feature custom-tuned audio drivers, which deliver clear and immersive sound, allowing one to be fully part of the gaming experience. The Corsair software is used to switch between stereo and Dolby Atmos, so if your game is in Atmos the headphones will be able to recreate an Atmos sound field. In addition to the impressive sound quality, the headphones are also very comfortable to wear. The ear cups are made from memory foam and covered in a soft, breathable fabric that feels great against the skin. They don’t heat up that much so you can wear them for a long time without being uncomfortable. The battery life is also impressive, with up to 18 hours of use on a single charge. Overall, I highly recommend the Corsair HS55 Wireless Gaming Headphones to anyone looking for a high-quality gaming headset. The sound quality is excellent, the headphones are comfortable to wear, and the wireless connectivity is reliable and easy to use.
I have owned a few headsets before, predominantly to use while creating voice-over presentations or while participating in online meetings, but found them to be uncomfortable over a lengthy period of time or lacking in microphone or speaker quality. On the contrary to my prior experiences with other brands, this Corsair headset is very comfortable and I particularly like the way the ear cup encompasses the entire ear (which helps block out external noise). The microphone quality is good and the speakers are great. Another nice feature is that the ear cups rotate in and the microphone flips up, making them easy enough to slip into a travel bag or backpack. The microphone quality is good and the speakers are great. Another nice feature is that the ear cups rotate in and the microphone flips up, making them easy enough to slip into a travel bag or backpack. Now, with all that being said, there were a few things that seemed a little odd to me given other experiences I have had with some other headphone/microphone combo devices. First, the headphones are packaged with a USB-A to USB-C cable. While I can appreciate the need to accommodate legacy computers, the computer (laptop) on which I was planning to use these headphones only has USB-C ports. That means I need an adapter as one did not ship with the unit. When I did plug the headphones into another computer, the computer (Windows 11) did recognize the headphones, but there was no way to use them as the settings did not show them as an audio device. I installed the iCUE software as well, and it did not see the headphones either. The short story there is that they must be used in wireless mode, even if physically plugged in to the computer. This is where it gets even more confusing to me. There was a USB-A wireless receiver included in the box. (Not USB-C, but USB-A.) As soon as I plugged in the receiver, the headphones (and microphone) showed up in my Windows settings (after a few moments given an automatic driver installation). At that point, I was then able to use the headphones and microphone, and the device also showed up in Corsair's iCUE software. There was a firmware update available, but in order to install it, I had to physically plug the headphones into the computer (which was weird considering the headphones did not work through the same cable). Another thing that was confusing was that it is possible to sync the headphones to your computer by both the wireless receiver (that ships with the headphones) and bluetooth as well. This then creates two separate audio devices in your computer settings, which created some additional confusion for me as one of the devices (via bluetooth) would not allow me to control the volume of the speakers through the dial on the unit. I did not have that same problem, however, when using the wireless connection through the receiver. If I was using a desktop computer, this would probably not be much of a big deal. When using it with a laptop, however, the utility of some of the headphone's features is diminished because, to fully use all the features of the headphones (the volume dial in particular), I need to plug in this 1.5" (approx) USB-A wireless receiver that then hangs out the side of the laptop. (If I wanted to use with a newer laptop that only has USB-C ports, the protrusion would be even longer given the need for a USB-C to USB-A adapter. The short story is that I am used to the simplicity associated with using iPods with my Apple devices (including my computers) where they connect easily and have all necessary functionality without having to plug any wireless receivers into my computer. I understand that Windows-based PCs function differently, but the setup and use simply is not as seamless as I am used to and would like. With that being said, though, this headset is significantly less expensive than those Apple devices (especially the over-the-ear AirPod Max), so some concessions are not only reasonable but necessary. For the money, this is a pretty solid headset that I will continue to use for work meetings and other related activities. While I realize these are marketed for gaming, they definitely fit the bill for my work needs. Given their comfort and quality of speakers, however, I can clearly see how these would work very well for gaming as well and will probably be giving that a try soon. Four stars seems a little low given the quality and value for the money, but I also would not feel comfortable giving a five star rating with the issues I noted. Maybe, realistically, 4.25 or 4.5 stars would be reasonable to me. If you are looking for a relatively reasonably-priced headset that is comfortable to wear with good sound and a good microphone, this unit is a pretty good option!

(Since my laptop only has one USB Type A connection, I needed to locate a USB-C to USB-C cable for the update.) Run the iCue software and follow the prompts to update the firmware. The headset will work just fine without installing iCue. But iCue is needed for firmware updates and to access some settings, like custom equalizer settings. I found the headset comfortable. It fit me well, however it does not appear to be size adjustable. There are intuitive controls on the headset. Plus, to easily mute the mic just flip it up. A brief tone lets you know you have muted and when you have unmuted by flipping the mic back into place. There is also a mute button on the headset if you prefer. The Wireless Receiver is for RF wireless connectivity to a laptop/desktop or to a PS4 or PS5 console. It works great with no pairing needed. I found no noticeable latency with the RF wireless connection. I tested the headset with some light online gaming. Transmit and receive were both very clear. I also tried it out with some voice recognition software and found that using the headset mic, I was understood much better than with my usual setup. I also noticed that I can go much farther away from my laptop using the RF wireless receiver than with Bluetooth without losing connectivity. The headset also works as a Bluetooth headset and will pair up and connect to phone, tablet, computer, etc. I used it over Bluetooth for work video conferencing as part of my testing. My colleagues noted that the mic on the headset was clear and sounded very good. The mic also provided good background noise filtering. The Corsair HS55 Headset is a solid performer, with both RF and Bluetooth connectivity. Sound is very good and the mic is crystal clear. The headset is comfortable and battery life is very good.
The Corsair HS55 is an overall great option for anyone looking to move on to a wireless gaming headset. I feel that this headset offers a great value of features for the price compared to other headsets currently available. The HS55 offers premium construction quality and comfort, 50 foot wireless range, is lightweight, has a solid battery life, charges fast, and offers Dolby Audio 7.1 Surround Sound on PC and Mac. It is also advertised to work on the PS4 and PS5, although I just tested it out for a few days on my PC. On the headset itself, there are various buttons, such as a mute button for the microphone (which also mutes when flipped up), a volume wheel, a bluetooth button, and of course the power button. For those using this headset on a PC, you are able to tune the sound much better in the iCue software. I personally did not like the sound much straight out of the box, but after using the EQ in the iCue software, I was able to tweak it to my liking and update the firmware. The microphone itself isn't the best, but no headset microphone really is. I would have liked to see the microphone be detachable as I've seen a few headsets that offer that, but in the end it's not that big of a deal. Overall though, I did like this headset and could easily see myself using it as a daily option. I think that for most people, it fits practically every need and comes in at a good price point. I would probably pair it with a dedicated microphone, but for those that can't, the included microphone will get the job done.
