We lecture on cruise ships -my subject is astronomy. For night sky sessions I wanted a smaller lightweight inexpensive pair with reasonable lightgrasp to check the sky. The price was a little less than a X Cel LX eyepiece! Lightweight, great resolution and contrast, good colour in the stars, good field width 6.8deg. Great value, compact and very useful.

Great pair of binoculars and value for money. Good quality build but a little heavy and cumbersome for carrying around any distance. The focus facility is a little fiddly but otherwise highly recommended. Picstop were excellent in supplying the goods, with first class communication and delivery. I would have no hesitation in purchasing from them again.

I've needed a good pair of binoc's for a while, I'm a bird watcher and I've been making do with an old cheap pair of binocs and a spotting scope. These binoculars are spectacular, they provide the vision I require to spot birds and are lightweight and sturdy enough to be carried anywhere. I like the rubber lense cups that hang on the binocs when removed from the lenses and yet are not in the way at all, and they provide excellent protection to the lenses. Most of the top of the line binoculars are way out of my price range, and are probably overkill, I chose the Celestron "Outland" 8x42's because they offer all the features that I require, they are manufactured by a company whose binocs are recommended by bird watching organizations and this model was priced at an ... MoreI've needed a good pair of binoc's for a while, I'm a bird watcher and I've been making do with an old cheap pair of binocs and a spotting scope. After having a pair of Olympus 8x21's which are okay, the Celestron 8x42's are much better, although the distance is the same having the 42 makes for a fantastic view which is crisp clear. I like the eye piece's and lens covers, it is a nice touch to have and protect the Binocular lens'. The delivery was good and quicker than stated.
These binoculars are extremely good quality, robust, durable lightweight and small enough for a lady to carry. We are very pleased with them. We liked them so much we bought a pair for family as well.
Background: I am a very old person with disconjugate vision (my eyes don't work well together) and know nothing about optics beyond my trifocals. But the B&H tutorials were a terrific introduction; without them I might have gotten binoculars that were too strong, too heavy or too frustratingly weak. These are easy to adjust and work perfectly for exploring the expansive east, west and south views from my NYC terrace. They are also fine for nighttime viewing of the sky to the north, where there is less light pollution. There are stars and planets up there! They are a bit heavy, which makes them unsteady unless I lean against the terrace railing, but that's my problem, not the binoculars'. (Should be working out my arms with weights.) A nice extra: the very good ... MoreBackground: I am a very old person with disconjugate vision (my eyes don't work well together) and know nothing about optics beyond my trifocals. A nice extra: the very good printed manual. Now I'd like to get a smaller, lighter pair for upclose watching of the birds at my feeders. And a camera attachment. And maybe a small telescope on a tripod?
This bino combines a great style with a great viewing experience for a very low price. This is the second one I bought, and I am pretty happy again. I've tried a few different ones, but the optical quality, clarity, and a wide viewing angle in this are fantastic! I honestly don't know how Celestron has managed to do this. are these binos subsidized? Anyhow, this product features the optical quality with water/fogproofing WAAAAAY beyonds its class. One word of caution, though - don't drop them on concrete. even though it has rubber armoring, the optical alignment may be disrupted if you drop them on a Hard surface from above 3', and you may end up sending them for warranty repair. Luckily, Celestron will fix that issue for 15 bucks.
I was looking for a small sized binoculars for astronomy that I can use for travel and is not insanely expensive. I have tried the 10x50 which are hard to hold steady and much bigger. They are better at astronomy too if you can hold them steady and are ok with weight and size for travel. In my case, needed something smaller so even though roof prisms are not recommended at this price point for astronomy I ended up buying this. I have not been disappointed. I do see flares sometimes but for all other observation this is perfect. I have observed Jupiter and its moons, saturn without its rings visible, Andromeda galaxy as a smudge, star clusters like coma cluster, lagoon nebula, and many more in Sagittarius, stars like Vega, Polaris, double double stars and a lot of ... MoreI was looking for a small sized binoculars for astronomy that I can use for travel and is not insanely expensive. It is not as sharp as a Pentax, but does the job enough for a travel bin at its size.
Very nice binoculars. Used them for tree work and bird watching in Costa Rica. I recommend
I purchased this to mainly observe wildlife. The images are very clear & sharp, I was surprised to see how far these could allow me to observe. This is my first real pair of binoculars & I am very happy with them. Seems well made & sturdy.
