Bought this as a present for a bday. It delivered so fast I actually would have preferred it to take longer since that meant I had to sit with anticipation for two weeks waiting for her birthday. The printer protons flawlessly, in like 3 passes, magenta yellow and cyan then finishes it off. We use the air print feature right from our iPhones and it works like a charm. If you're on a photo in you photo album on your phone just select print and then select the printer wait like 20-30 seconds for it to transfer and receive the image, the takes like 10-15 seconds to print . Awesome printer, quality is great. Would definitely recommend for 4x6 pics

I purchased the Canon SELPHY CP1300 while it was on sale. I have never used a thermal dye sub printer before, I am very impressed with the quality of the prints. My display is colour accurate and the prints match the display very closely from this printer. I think it is better than previously owned ink jet printers. If you do purchase this printer, I would advise turning off image correction in the printer settings and boosting the brightness level to +1 to lift the shadow areas giving you a more detailed print. I highly recommend.

Pros: It’s a small, totally portable, dedicated photo printer. If you want to take it with you and print snaps of an event, you totally can do. It will run on battery if you have one, if not it comes with its own mains cable. The paper/ink package is around £17 for 36 pics. The quality of the pics is pretty good, the image is sharp and clear. The colour could be slightly better but that’s me being picky. Plus I don’t know if the colour is down to the printer or the environment where the photo was taken. It is very easy to set up and equally easy to use. I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn’t have or want a big printer. Just remember to purchase the paper/ ink as it doesn’t come with either. Cons: The set up instructions could be clearer but once I dumped them I ... MorePros: It’s a small, totally portable, dedicated photo printer. I love the item. It’s nice to be able to print out photos from my iPad. It is nice and small so doesn’t take up much room. The only issue I had with the setup was, I’m not a techy person, so I was following the instructions to the letter. But couldn’t understand why when I hit the wifi button it kept saying my printer wasn’t set up. So I managed to find a YouTube video to explain it. There are two different kinds of set up. One in the manual where you “direct print”. So then the printer shows under your wifi settings as a separate item. Or, which is what I wanted, you actually tap the wifi button on the printer, then it asks you to set up to your personal internet connection. I felt proud when I figured this out. I used to use a commercial thermal transfer print when I was shooting events. The one I had ended up out living the support for it and since then I have retired from the event circus. The price per print is a little high for a 4x6, about 25-30 depending on where you get your paper ...but, for the connivence of being able to print an image at home vs the gas and time to run to the store it's very well worth it. Also the initial cost of this printer is a steal! Add to that the fact that thermal dye prints are virtually UV light proof. No fading over time. Great buying I'm not looking back.
These Selphy printers are highly underrated. Just upgraded from the old CP800 and this was a great upgrade. Wireless printing directly from your phone or via your home network was seamless. The photos are beautiful with deep blacks and nice colors. The photos also print pretty fast, definitely faster than the older Selphys. By the way the battery, paper tray and power adapter all seem to be interchangeable from the old CP800 and even though my ink cartridge sat in the printer for years, the photos print with zero issues. If only the big printers worked this well. As a little treat, try printing a bookmark with the background set to black or try printing a contact sheet directly from your SD card with the file names displayed to help you or your client choose your ... MoreThese Selphy printers are highly underrated. I really liked my HP PhotoSmart GoGo 335 6x4 photo printer. Great print quality, portable size, and battery powered. However, since it was over 15 years old, Windows no longer had printer drivers for it, it had no wireless capability, the SD card reader was not HC or XC compliant (limited to 2GB SD cards), batteries failed and were totally not replaceable, and lastly, HP has obscenely run up the price on print cartridges to over $70 each! At least wired Pict Bridge still works. This Canon printer solves all those problems. I tested it's print quality versus the HP, and it's not quite as good, but close enough, and it costs half as much to print a 6x4 photo as the HP. The photo shows two prints, The top one is from the HP Photosmart printer, the bottom one from the Selphy CP1300. The Hp photo shows better dynamic range. The water spots on the HP printer came after the printout, but demonstrates that the photos are not immune to water droplets, the Canon prints are supposed to be protected by a clear layer on the photo.
The Canon Selphy is different in many ways from the more common ink jet printers. With an ink jet you can run out of one colour cartridge today, another in a few days time followed by the paper. The Selphy uses dye sublimation (dye sub) technology. When you load the RP108 pack there will be 108 photo papers and a cartridge that will print all the photos. The cartridge looks like a ribbon film. During printing the paper passes in and out of the printer 3 times for the colours to be applied followed by a clear protective coat. Prints are dry and finger proof as soon as they are made. Maximum print size is 6 x 4 inches but smaller prints can be made. A full range of print adjustments can be made. The printer can accept SD cards, USB stick and computer drive. Print ... MoreThe Canon Selphy is different in many ways from the more common ink jet printers. Print quality is excellent, sharp with good colour balance and the gloss setting does not give the heavy over glossed look. Dye sub printers are not the low cost purchase option and print sizes are limited. That said you know in advance how many prints you are sure to get. The best part is the print quality.
Bought this so I could print photos for my family without having to order. Worked initially, but then it stopped being compatible with my iMac when I upgraded to Monterey - currently using 12.2.1. Kept giving error messages when I tried to print a photo from the Mac. Deleted driver, tried finding updated driver, etc - called Canon support, they could not help me, told me there would not be an updated driver for the Selphy to make it compatible. So now useless to me. So if you are thinking about purchasing, check the compatibility if you are planning to use with a Mac. I am a big Canon fan - lots of Canon photo gear, Canon Professionals member, Canon printers and scanners, etc so always buy Canon. TL;DR It works better than I expected, and I recommend it. I'm a commercial photographer based in NYC, and a client wanted prints on site for a charity golf event. I haven't done printing on site in 11years, and the last time I did I was able to rent a dye-sublimation printer for a NY rental house. They're no longer available locally, so I looked into buying one. The least expensive commercial-grade dye-sub printer was $495, but none was available anywhere, so I bought two Canon Selphy CP-1300 printers. They're not intended for commercial use, and are slower than commercial printers, but we were able to deliver the prints my client needed running two at a time. Print quality is very good, and I have a happy client. One note from my digital tech: they don't seem to ... MoreTL;DR It works better than I expected, and I recommend it. We printed from Lightroom over a WiFi network (we brought our own WiFi router so we wouldn't have to share bandwidth, and it worked without a hitch).
