I've been using it twice weekly for two months and there has been a drastic decrease in the amount of hair, texture of hair, hyperpigmentation from years of skin damaging hair removal methods, and a massive improvement to the overall texture of my skin. My constantly embarrassing five o'clock shadow is gone. Some realism: you Must patch test, you Must start at the lowest setting and only work your way up when you know your skin can handle it, you Must follow the directions regarding shaving vs plucking - this is a serious device. Be aware it works best on dark hair and only middling on blonde hair (my dark hair patches are Gone, but the blonde patches are more stubborn). I do use this in combination with tretinoin, which is doable but higher risk. I let my skin get used to the IPL for a month before resuming tretinoin. I have a routine of tretinoin, wait three days, IPL in the morning and tretinoin in the evening, repeat, giving my skin a few days of recovery from the tretinoin before the IPL. I'm not recommending that you do this without patch testing and knowing what your skin can handle, but since I saw so many mixed messages online about it, it's worth mentioning that it may be doable for you.

This means you can also use it in “tap” mode where you hold the button down continuously and then just lift on and off the skin. This “tapping” can be easier for working in tighter areas where it's not as easy to swipe it across the skin.The pulse light is very bright and can be seen around the edges of the lens even when pressed firmly against the skin. The instruction manual notes that it is not dangerous but does recommend looking away to avoid any discomfort from the bright light. Speaking of the manual, it is very well-written and user-friendly. I appreciate having a printed manual instead of having to download an electronic copy. The storage case has a nice flap on top for keeping the manual handy, although once you use the Braun IPL Pro 7 a time or two, you probably won’t need it.So does it work? Well, maybe. I have been using the Braun IPL Pro 7 nearly daily for about two weeks. I spend about 10 minutes using it, probably producing around 200 “flashes”. It has not totally killed all the hair I have treated with it, but it does seem that it might be slowing the growth or at least thinning the hair. I am still using a razor to shave daily, plus you must be clean-shaven before using the Braun IPL Pro 7. I would imagine that it can take a while to kill all hair follicles, so I will continue to use it.One other minor issue is the discomfort involved in using this device. It will cause a very hot, burning sensation at the point where it contacts skin. It’s short-lived, but as you drag it back and forth over the same area, it can make the skin very sensitive. It can also leave skin a bit red and irritate, but it goes away quickly and using a soothing lotion afterwards can help, too. There is a button to adjust intensity and lowering it can reduce discomfort, but also means less power output which requires more treatment. Overall, the Braun IPL Pro 7 is a quality appliance and easy to use. I am optimistic that with enough usage, it will inhibit hair growth as advertised.

My fault because I chose to do it at the bottom of my leg near my ankle and I don’t think I was holding it correctly. After I figured that out, it advised you to wait 15 minutes to see if there was any reaction. There wasn’t, so I was free to continue.It feels hot and a very bright flash and click, I think the anticipation is far worse than the actual thing! It is by far the least painful method of hair removal, because it isn’t at all. It’s a 1/10 at best for pain, so it’s nothing at allI immediately switched to the precision head to do my face - I used the app to set up a new weekly schedule and chose the lowest of the three intensities, selected the colour of the hair and off I went. It took 3 minutes max, and I used 22 flashes. It felt totally fine, and just ever so slightly hot and a little tight afterwards, which subsided in a couple of minutes. Very very easy to do and so quick!!! I already can’t wait to do the next treatment next week!You must shave clean and dry the areas you are treating, and given I had a days growth of hair on my legs I’ll be trying that after I’d been in the shower, that’s the only prep you need to do.It will probably take a while to do my face hairs as I have been plucking daily for years, so I will shave only from now on so that they will all eventually be in the same growth cycle, so I can treat them all.Literally the only reason I haven’t bought one before now is that they are expensive, but I believe there are some models that are half price over Christmas.I will be using it pretty much from the chin down and hopefully not need to shave again!
