Blue Microphones Yeti 3-Capsule USB Microphone - Space Grey

I purchased the Yeti mic last year as an upgrade from my Snowball mic. I like the design. The base is sturdy and I like that the mic can be tilted to fit your needs. You can purchase a boom arm and mount as well if you don't have desk space. the sound quality is clear and crisp. I use the mide for voiceovers and it works great. You can also download the Logitech G hub and customize your sound if you like. This worked with my Windows 10 laptop and my video editing software. You may need to change the sound inputs because it automatically assumes you are using headphones Once you have it set up it should be fine. the box includes the USB cable and the mic. Audio quality OK, but broke after less than a year

No issues with audio quality for this microphone, but it broke after less than a year due to flimsy, poorly designed connector. It's kind of my own fault--I accidentally bumped it off a desk. However, the microphone and stand are very heavily weighted (perhaps to give the illusion of quality), and this microphone uses an extremely old USB connector type that is prone to stress failures. One little jerk of the cord was all it took to bend/snap the fragile connector pins in the body of the microphone. Game over. After doing some research online I discovered, too late, that damage to this port is so common that there are many forum threads about it, and even shops that replace this specific port on this specific microphone -- for nearly the cost of a new one, of ... MoreNo issues with audio quality for this microphone, but it broke after less than a year due to flimsy, poorly designed connector. It's kind of my own fault--I accidentally bumped it off a desk. On most forums, they'll just recommend that you purchase a better-designed microphone.Very disappointed that such an expensive microphone uses such old, flimsy technology. If you have already purchased this unit, recommend adding additional reinforcement to the port. If you haven't, save your money for something that's actually sturdy instead of something that just looks sturdy.

Best Mic I've Ever Owned

There is a reason why this mic has been the standard for gaming and content creation for about 10+ years now. I've tried both the Elgato Wave 3 and the HyperX Duocast mics, and I was dissatisfied with both of them. My voice always sounded muffled with those mics, and it was never crystal clear. I also tried the Blue Yeti nano, and it crashed my computer, so I would be weary with that model. However, I recently picked up this original Blue Yeti, and it has blown me away. My voice is crystal clear, loud, and overall just amazing quality. If you want to eliminate background noise, just use NVIDIA broadcast noise suppression, and it will be just as good as an expensive XLR mic. I couldn't be any happier, and I highly recommend giving this one a try!

Don’t shop at Best Buy

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! This Best Buy location is downright RACIST!!! The way I was treated as a black man was rooted in deep discrimination. The customer service here is deplorable. This is the most rude & unprofessional Best Buy I have ever shopped at in the 30 years I have been a Best Buy customer!!! The “supervisor” Jesus & the manager “Ajay” were extremely rude to me over a $100 return! I purchased it less than 30 days ago and they refused to return it. I told them I had been battling Covid for the past couple of weeks and was unable to come in and return within 15 days and was told “oh well” . They then proceeded to scam me and sell me a $50 membership that “allows” 60 day return policy. They said they would “lie” and say they forgot to put it on there the day I ... MoreDO NOT SHOP HERE!!! They said they would “lie” and say they forgot to put it on there the day I purchased the microphone so that they could process the return. This is unethical and clearly against their policy, but somehow they have no problem breaking the policies when it is convenient for them. Why would I give you $50 to take back a $100 return? That is preposterous & an unethical proposition. I have never in my life been so insulted & disrespected. I have been shopping at Best Buy my ENTIRE life and now I can no longer support a company that discriminates & encourages unethical practices when it’s convenient for them. I am appalled that Best Buy would promote such scammers to these positions. They then blame it on “the system” , “the system” doesn’t allow it. I know for a fact that this is false. If it’s one thing I hate more, it’s being lied to as if this is my first time at the rodeo. If I could rate 0 stars I would.

Great Microphone for Recording and Gaming!

I made the leap (discovered this was needed last minute) and purchased an external microphone for recording and for gaming sessions, and I am so glad I chose this microphone. The sound quality is crisp, and especially during the muddiness of gaming, I'm able to be heard loud and clear by my teammates. It was super easy to set up, just plug and play.Additionally (and I was not aware of this) you can plug your headphones into the bottom of the microphone, and hear the computer sound through it. I was completely unaware that this was an option when purchasing this microphone, and I was pleasantly surprised.Just one note I would like to add, with the quality that this microphone brings, it is quite heavy. Great upgrade choice from the Yeti Snowball

I got this mic after having the yeti snowball for almost 2 years. It is definitely a worthwhile upgrade. I use the mic to record audio in davinci resolve and I wanted to upgrade to something a little more versatile than the yeti snowball but not a $400 mic. As I've learned more about audio recoding the benefit of adjust the gain and pluging in headphone directly on the mic are actually useful now. You cab also adjust the audio pattern on the mic which is nice too. The sound quality is great but I wish there was a bundle that came with a pop filter. I got this $25 off because it was on sale, if it wasn't i likely would have waited a few more months to get it. If you're just starting out, a cheaper mic like the Yeti Snowball is perfect for what you need but if you're ... MoreI got this mic after having the yeti snowball for almost 2 years. No

Blue Yeti's in general are some of the worst microphones you could purchase in this price class. Firstly, most consumer-focused audio equipment as an artefact of being sold to a less discerning audience has often really poor value for money, although there are some slight improvements in convenience. Secondly, most purchasers don't realize that buying a condenser microphone requires really good acoustics (at minimum maybe a carpeted floor) as you will hear the entire room and environment, as well as having that ear gating sibilance enhancing s-noises which can irritate people listening without some audio plugins or clean up. Thirdly, most Blue Yeti SKUs have a pretty poor analog-digital conversion, which is just unfortunate.I have bought about 5 old used studio ... MoreBlue Yeti's in general are some of the worst microphones you could purchase in this price class. Thirdly, most Blue Yeti SKUs have a pretty poor analog-digital conversion, which is just unfortunate.I have bought about 5 old used studio XLR sound cards for about $20 each. I have bought cheap condenser microphones, not even from reputable brands, which I personally think outperform the Blue Yeti.Sure, you need a stand, a cable, a sound card and a microphone - that's less convenient - but that can be had for as little as $60 and be better all-around in my opinion.Blue is just a brand of Logitech anyway, not a brand you should consider having high reputations. Things were a little different over a decade ago, when some musicians would use their higher end products.

No effort went into this mic in over 10 years

The fact that this expensive microphone is shipping with a usb standard that was outdated 10 years ago should’ve been the first red flag. I settled and bought it anyways. Out of the box, the headphone jack didn’t line up with the hole on the bottom and the included cable did not stay in. The microphone would constantly shut off unless I got the cable to the perfect angle where it could hold itself up. Even when the microphone worked, it picked up every noise (even noises behind it) no matter which setting I had it on. I bought a $25 Amazon mic with a headphone output, usb-c, volume/mic controls, and a noise cancelling setting. It even took up less space on my desk. My friends kept saying how clear it sounded even on default settings. I would avoid paying this price ... MoreThe fact that this expensive microphone is shipping with a usb standard that was outdated 10 years ago should’ve been the first red flag. Not for I, says this guy...

I bought this largely due to all the positive ratings it had and I am terribly disappointed. Once I figure out if I can return it without a box I will be returning it. It seems to be a quality product that uses quality materials, and software/driver wise I have no issues there either. I bought this to do voiceovers for YouTube and even on the cardioid setting with the gain all the way down it picks up my voice bouncing off the monitor as I narrate. I have been playing with different software and drivers for it with all the same outcomes which leads me to believe that this mic simply isn't for me. The close-quarters environment created by my monitors (which I need to see to narrate) seems to be an Achilles heel for this mic.Hope this helps someone, I'm certain this ... MoreI bought this largely due to all the positive ratings it had and I am terribly disappointed. USB port failed at 1.5 years - decent sound

When product was new, the sound was decent. It really requires some level of EQ to sound good, as it lacks treble, not ideal for higher pitched voices. With no EQ, it sounds slightly muffled, and appears to lack clarity. If you are going to use its many different polar patterns, I can recommend this microphone. However, if you are only going to leave it in cardioid (one sound source, directly in front of the microphone, such as single vocals or single instrument), there are better options available at a similar price point. Now after 1.5 years of ownership, the mini-usb port has failed. It is held in structurally using solder on all four corners of the port, however due to excessive clearances between the port and the microphone body, it allows the port to wiggle around during normal use such as moving or rotating the microphone, and thus strain the structural solder joints. There are many reports of this online. This should have been rectified in later models, but it has not. I interpret this as a company more concerned with penny pinching, than considering consumers, or the environment.
