I'm old and have tender, large feet. These felt a little "tough" at first, but with a couple of weeks of break-in, they are perfect. I have size 11 ee feet. The size of these Birks is 44 regular/wide. I just had knee surgery and need something that I can get on and off easily AND that sticks to my feet and does not flow around. These are perfect for wide, old, tender feet. Probably easier on younger feet.

I absolutely love these. I went with the suggestions about these running big and got a size 45 instead of a 46. I wear a US size 13. These fit perfectly. Super comfortable, oddly quiet, and they still have the classic Birkenstock look and feel. Have put a few miles on them and they are holding up great so far. 10/10 definitely recommend.

They fit my feet well and there is less exposed cork to reseal every year.Some reviewers have complained that these sizing on these is wrong. I normally wear a size 45 and ordered these in the same. I love these. Definitely a more sturdier version of the Birks I usually wear. With the old ones, whenever I would go for a walk and come across a wet sidewalk, I would have to tread carefully. Not with these! I’ve even taken them in some dirt trails real quick and they have awesome grip! Love these so much
I really wanted to like these-- I've been a decades-long wearer of Birkentsock Arizona's, Zurichs, and Bostons, and was excited to see an "all terrain" version for wear. The fit has always remained true in these models (I wear a size 46). However, the foot bed in the Arizona CT is much wider, particularly in the heel and metatarsal sections.The extra traction does me no good when my foot is swimming around in the sandle. If you have a wide heel and foot, or flatter foot, perhaps they will work for you. I tried them for a few days and I'm really glad I got them from REI due to their outstanding return policy.
Birk's used to make the Tatami, a Birkenstock sandal with (I think), a completely TPU lower and strap, that the cork footbed rested inside of, completetly covering the bottom/sides of the footbed, making them vitrually waterproof (don't go splashing around in any puddles, though). These were great walking across the wet grass in the morning or in a summer shower as I didn't really have to worry about the sides of the cork getting wet and ruining the footbed. I was looking to purchase another pair or two of the Tatamis but it looks like they stopped making them. Instead, I found the Arizona CT Rugged Sandals, and boy did that make my day! Not quite as much protection on the sides, but pretty close and the sole is a little more rugged! Plus I think these look great ... My wife has been a Birkenstock wearer for over 30 years. I resisted for that long, mainly because I want shoes I can go in - runners, hiking shoes, water sandals. Birks always seemed limiting. I don't want to worry about getting my shoes a little wet or muddy. Then I saw these with a more 'go' sole and decided to give them a try. These are the most comfortable things I have ever worn on my feet in my life. For hikes and working, I still don't wear them. But at the end of a long day at work or on the last miles of a hike, all I can think about is getting home and putting these guys on my dogs. Perfect for around the house, HEB trips, shorter walks. I love them. The break in was pretty quick too, particularly considering I don't tend to wear them on longer walks.
As I wear a US 11.5. I used the supplied size chart. Which said I should order a 44. When the shoes arrived and I tried them on. I had to check and make sure I hadn't by accident ordered a pair of snow shoes. They were that big. Sent them back and went with the 43's/US10. Still too big. So it's now down to ordering a 42/US9. That is simply unacceptable.Birkenstock seems to be making up numbers at random. Which makes it hard when one is not near a large REI store that even carries the new(ish) Arizona rugged CT model.
I really wanted to like these. There a well made and have a look that makes them a little nicer than the typical Arizona sandal. My hope is that the cork will hold up longer with the protected sides and more robust rubber sole.The warning is to definitely size down on these. I am a 10.5 and often go to 11 in running shoes. I have gone down to 10 before in some sandals but never had to go lower than that. I ordered 43's and they were just too large. A 43 in the traditional Arizona is a perfect fit for me so this was disappointing.
Love these. I live in wet tropics but don’t like the plastic Birks. This meets my need for non-slippery Birks. I have walked and ridden a bike on wet pavement and they work well. They run wide but for me that’s great. They are slightly harder/less cushioned than traditional cork sole but provide a wider, firm base. The tread looks indestructible but I’m only a week in with these. They do squeak on some indoor surfaces (tile). So, for bigger foot bike wearers, they’re just about ideal.
