This would be my first Apple watch and I am very happy with the purchase. I am a hardcore Casio user, I own quite a few of them but I seldom wear a watch all day. I've grown used to just wear them when I go out. With the Apple watch however, I see a reason to keep it on at all times; whether to keep an eye on messages, time (which is the main reason for a watch), or for taking a picture or a video remotely, which is one of my favorite features; I set my phone in place and activate from my watch. Apple pay is something that I am very fond of; I had a Samsung watch in the past and the digital wallet was something I used quite often. All and all, I think it is worth buying and although you can get most of these features from the lower price Apple watches, the fact the I am used to wear rugged, tough looking G-shocks was what drew me to get this version. The high-quality materials and the look of the watch was a definite factor in buying the Ultra.

Which also reminds me that you might want to disable low heart rate notifications. Nothing is more aggravating and getting woken up in the middle of the night by your watch because your heart rate is 37 bpm.The display is Big and vivid. The band was surprisingly more comfortable than I thought it would be. I thought I wouldnāt be able to live without a silicone band. However, since I ordered some on Amazon, Iāve still been wearing the trail loop. Itās snug and doesnāt skip around a lot when running.Apart from this watch having LTE capability so I can take it on my run, I am most excited about having my playlist downloaded to my watch, and being able to stream them to my AirPods. The battery life is better than some of the other Apple Watch models, but not very impressive when you compare it to a more utilitarian watch like a Garmin or something. I disabled the screen always on and send it to only turn on when I raise my wrist or rotate the crown and I seem to be getting a lot more life out of it.If youāre into ultramarathons, you might want something with a better battery life. However, I think several hours is more than I need. I have 100% confidence this watch could be my companion all day and still go cycling for several hours with proper settings applied in the evening.

This is the Wizard of Oz of Apple Watches: big intimidating voice but just a little man behind the curtain. The reality is the Ultra is just a bigger form factor AW plus the ability to go diving or on a longer hike or trek -- though it only has days, not weeks of battery life like other hiking watches. The Ultra is indeed impressive and slick looking. If that's all you are looking for, and the price point is no issue, then the Ultra is for you. That's likely who is buying them because functionally it's not that unique enough from its little brother AW8 or even AW7.The separation the Ultra has from the hundreds lower priced AW8 45mm sport models focuses more on usability than extra abilities: 1) cellular is standard, 2) screen is slightly bigger and better quality, 3) there is a user-configurable side button, 4) 2x battery life compared to the AW8.As far as distinct capabilities, the Ultra only has three: 1) as a dive watch, 2) can tolerate extreme temperatures, 3) has an emergence siren for, say, a search team, to locate you. The GPS is also improved over the AW8. If any of this is useful to you then its worth a look, though I think other brands like Garmin do the job here better at this point in the Ultra's life. Garmin has been making extreme sport watches for over a decade. They are not the prettiest but they are solid tools.I returned my Ultra - briefly here's why: 1) it's enormous. If you don't have a big wrist it looks silly. 2) it's expensive for a gadget that will be technologically leapfrogged, probably by Apple itself, in a very short time -- it's not a long term "investment." 3) It doesn't do anything extra over an AW8 that I want a sport watch to do (Running is my sport), so why spend the extra money? The Ultra is a solid watch but if you are expecting it to do a lot more than a regular AW 8 you will be disappointed. Apple has a lot more work to do before Ultra catches up with the functionality of true ultra sport watches. If you just want a bigger face or different look for your AW though and don't mind the price then go for it.

Was worried about the size difference in coming from the Series 4. So far, it really hasnāt been much of an issue. I wear French cuff shirts & itās a slight nuisance with those. Not as bad if I just wear it a little higher on my wrist tho. It is a little more noticeable when running, but mainly due to weighing more vs the sizeā¦feels like it bounces a little more unless the strap is super tight. The larger screen is a major plus!! Most of my training runs are on a sunny trail & reading the data on the series 4 was definitely more challenging. The bigger, brighter screen makes it much easier to see the info I want at a quick glance. Was hoping the enhanced GPS a would make it easier for my family to track me during large races with greater accuracy to know when I was ...Ā MoreWas worried about the size difference in coming from the Series 4. The bigger, brighter screen makes it much easier to see the info I want at a quick glance. Was hoping the enhanced GPS a would make it easier for my family to track me during large races with greater accuracy to know when I was getting close. So far, this has been about the same as the Series 4 (according to my wife).Battery life is amazing compared to the Series 4 I had prior. Only need to charge every other day now. Thatās with starting the day near a full charge, tracking a 20 mile (or more) run, & various other notifications, etc throughout the day until taking it off before bed. Still has 20-30% battery left at the end of the 2nd day. Also, not tracking long runs on back to back days at those #s.Overall, hands down the best Apple Watch Iāve had to date (2, 4 & Ultra). The side button seems to work well enough, I just havenāt gotten used to it yet or configured exactly the way I want. The protruding crown & button on the other side take a little getting used to as well.Dinged it a star only bc itās been a little glitchy after the most recent update (9.1). Screen occasionally flickers while in an app now. Hopefully an update corrects this issue.
I ordered this to replace a 44mm aluminum Apple Watch. Itās very nice and looks distinguished from other Apple Watches. The battery life is better than my old watch and the features are pretty cool. I opted for the trail band as the other bands had mixed reviews. One downfall is this watch is heavy and after extended wearing causes me pain on the little finger side of my wrist. Moving the band so the Velcro tabs were to the thumb side of my wrist helped a ton but didnāt eliminate the problem. Iāve owned several different watch of varied sizes and constructions and never experienced this sensation. A different band may a better option however, for an 800 dollar watch, Iād expect it to feel like angel wings on my arm. Let me start this off by saying that I have a pretty rough job on clothes/equipment. I climb cell phone towers for a living and this watch has held up beautifully. This watch has come into contact and banged up against steel on a regular basis. I have no screen protector or case for this at all. Literally zero scratches on the screen at all, nor any marks, scuffs, or dents on the shell of the watch itself. I have had this for about 2 months now and itās been put to the test. Recommend this for any tradesmen/tradeswoman looking for something that will last in the field. Battery life is great too. Only have to charge this watch with regular use on tower to answer phone calls/emails all day once every 2 days. Stands up to the elements very well too. Both my wife and I have had an Apple Watch Series 6 cellular since it came out in 2020 and we've absolutely loved it and been so happy we ordered the cellular model. That being said, when it was time to upgrade I immediately looked at the ultra just so I could enjoy the extended battery life and some of the extra features, and wow I'm so happy I did!I will preface this review by saying this watch is significantly larger than the other watches, and significantly heavier too, and my wife has already said she will never use one of these because it's way too big for her. That being said, I love everything about this watch. Even after 24 hours of workout tracking, swimming, phone calls (over cellular), using Maps, sleep tracking, using the walkie talkie feature, messaging, and more, this watch still has 54% battery life left! After 24 hours! My old Apple Watch Series 6 would die after about 12-16 hours of use, it's absolutely bonkers how long this new watch lasts with the upgraded battery. In addition to the incredible battery life, the band is one of the best I've used so far. I've used one of the Velcro "Sport Loop" band on my old Apple Watch for 3 years as it was the best one I found to work with water/sweat while also still fitting as loose/tight as I want in the moment, but this new watch band is even better somehow! The band itself dries within minutes of swimming, just so fast, you don't have to mess with Velcro at all which is great, and the band matches the action button and the color of the "cellular ring" on the crown, so it looks incredible.Lastly, the screen is just phenomenal. My old Series 6 had a great screen and I was always happy with it, but this larger, brighter, more durable (and completely flat) screen is a significant upgrade my old watch, and I'm so excited to have it! After 3 years my old watch screen was kind of scraped up and a bit marked up (not cracked though) and with the design of the body/screen of the ultra, I know this watch and screen will look great for many years to come! All in all, I'm incredibly happy I ordered this and I will never be able to go back to using a regular Apple Watch again, this is just the best of the best and I couldn't recommend it enough.

This was my very first Apple Watch purchase so I thought Iād go big with it. I spent a few months deciding on whether this was for me, as I donāt normally wear watches or enjoy using my cell phone.Itās been about two weeks now and I couldnāt be happier with my decision to purchase this watch. When juiced up, the battery runs for 2-3 days easy, and it charges pretty quick. Judging from the reviews, I was concerned about it being too big, but it fits my rather skinny wrist perfectly.I wanted this watch in order to track my workouts. My iPhone and third party apps werenāt doing it for me. This thing changes the game. I tried it out in the gym and did a 60 minute workout session and it tracked calories burned, heart rate and more. Just from lifting weights. When I go for a run (the main purpose for the watch) I love how it tracks my path and records the time for me. I can easily look back at previous runs.I like the always on clock feature. It doesnāt kill the battery and looks awesome. I was upset initially the band didnāt come in more colors, but the black and gray really works well with any outside and the strap is very comfortable.I accidentally dragged my hand against a brick wall for a few seconds one day and it didnāt leave a single scratch on this bad boy. Solid like a tank!Still trying to figure some things out, but so far it was above and beyond what I was hoping for. Hopefully I never have to use the siren and I donāt expect to be playing with the underwater features anytime soon, but I enjoy having those options available to me.Worth the price. Built to last. Made for adventure.
Yes I have to admit I love apple, mac⦠so I am partial to apple, however, in all actuality this watch has separated from the norm. I was tired of the chassis of the predecessors. I was tired of the chassis of the predecessors. Thank you so much geniuses! Not heavy enough to write home about, larger display means happier eyes, finger tips- less frustration, interface immaculate, rugged yet sleek, and did I mention the large display? What a world of difference- Ty!š wuhhhhh, y a s s s sš, o m geeš«Ø, wait a minuteš¤¤ā¦.whatās up with the šs q u a r e round desišn ? is apple listening to my prayers for the last decade, ( sq-rnd- thatās how I refer to the shape) is an absolutely𫦠gorgeous, fš„re- must-have design.Iāve waited for this-ish design since the apple iPhone 5 - took long enough, well worthy of the wait doesnāt disappoint. idk how many are getting 4 avg days of batteryš¤ I get maybe, mayybee 1.5 / 2 days and Iām like at 5Percent or less- school mode def on at that point. Not complaining tho. from the display, size, colors life like , the s h a p e, apps are the same as usual and the hub is also, but I would def recommend further development in theb a n d department. I got the divers band -yellow- and my exp. is it kinda ācutsā into my wrist skin (hopefully that makes sense) and that is the correct sizing for me, itās v e r y stiff.Checked the e k g-ish (verbiage for liability) feature against an actual EKG/ECG hospital ER room machine and the ultra watch was spot in EACH TIME. No promises for your experience but that was MY experience. Standing O. Um, letās seeā¦. just so many standouts in mind that you have to try it yourself. I belive apple gives 14 days(???) For returns - check on that tho. If you absolutely donāt love it then you can always return it. On the fence? Get it. YšLš. In all seriousness I absolutely recommend- sometimes I feel like I am an iRobot or penny from inspector gadget š§š¼š¶. Iām old kids - 44- Iām referring to Old cartoon memories and I always lived vicariously thru penny, so this watch is very appreciated- best thing since c a l c u l a t o r watches- thatās an entirely other story kids. Take your parents to apple or online and tell you would like to have a penny watch- they just might want one too- thank me later š¤ sorry parents but treat your number ones to one they deserve it- S A F E T Y features as well⦠the list goes in and on. bottom line: thank youa p p l e ššš„āļøš¦¾š
