Why are all books in German? My husband had a much older Kindle and had been looking to upgrade for a while. I decided to buy this for him as he reads so many books and has a lot of travelling to do over the next year. He is VERY happy with it, the self adjusting back light came in useful when he was reading outside in the bright sun and also when he was on a flight and the lights were turned off. This Kindle is waterproof but it's not a feature he has tested as yet.This Kindle does charge on the wireless stand we have for other products, it just needs placing on it at a slightly different angle but it works just fine.The battery life is impressive and thus far he has only charged it the once (only had it a few weeks).We haven't really got much else to say at this time as it is still so ... MoreMy husband had a much older Kindle and had been looking to upgrade for a while. After years convincing myself, that I like the feel of a 'real' book, I purchased this GREAT Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. This product delivers in a big way, and all the descriptions about it's readability really are true. It can be read in the dark, or in bright sunlight. It really does look like looking at real paper! It is about the size of an average paperback, so feels that you are looking at a real book. This version has more LEDs than some, which I'm sure are worth the extra money. Though, I have seen some lesser models, and they also look good, too. Of course, you have the added benefit of storage, literally thousands of books can be held on it. I purchased this model after much (possibly too much) research. It is a wonderful piece of kit, I still read my traditional books and thoroughly enjoy the sensation of engaging with the paperback. That said I equally enjoy my kindle, ideal for travelling, superb for nighttime and a great companion in the coffee shop. I got the larger memory for my audiobook collection (ever growing) and well, you know just in case.The screen is wonderful and being able to bookmark, auto brightness control and portability is a real treat. I read more than ever, with the written word comes adventure, thrills, laughter and tears. I can whole heartedly recommend this kindle. Worth every penny.
Bought this Kindle paper white signature version as my old Kindle had become obsolete. Its so much smaller and easier to hold and handle. The backlight is a godsend( my old one was the very first version and had no backlight)and an adjustable bright or warm light makes it easier to read in darkened areas. Battery life is obviously not as long as my old Kindle as the new one has a lot more to do on its battery E.g. the light etc but still lasts quite a bit. The only thing Ive found fault with is getting used to the digital screen,such as returning to the Home Screen once you have read a book. Im sure I will get used to it and it does not take away from how good the Kindle is. Very pleased with my purchase its a lovely piece of kit.
