I know they say never buy new shoes before traveling, but I spent three weeks running errands and walking my dogs and thought I had broken them in enough. They felt a little tight but I read they would stretch. So I brought them on a trip - I knew it was bad sign on the airplane when my feet hurt after wearing the shoes for 12 hours doing nothing but sitting. First couple days they were fine but on day 3 I wore thinner socks with them and I got absolutely wrecked. Both ankles cut up with blisters, bleeding through my socks into the backs of the shoes…I have so many regrets. I have wanted Allbirds forever and I finally got them - and I have been so impressed. They are comfortable and stylish, don't make my feet sweaty, and are easy to slip on and off without untying the laces (major bonus points for this feature!). I like the neutral gray color. The arch support is decent and the squishiness factor is on-point for me. These are going to be my new shoes for traveling, since they are so comfortable but still help me look a bit more polished than other sneakers. The only negative - and honestly it's not a negative, more of just a point to make - is they aren't great for walking on gravel roads. For most people that's a non-issue; I just happen to live on a gravel road. I have these shoes in green and I love the color. I use them as everyday shoes, not for running. When I first got them, I noticed that tying them created pressure points on the top of my foot that were a pain during long drives. That's gotten better as the shoes have been worn in. I also decided to size up ; I'm normally a 7 but bought an 8 because I had to size up for my last pair of All-Birds (Wool Runner Mizzles). I'm not sure that was a good idea because these shoes do feel a tad large. They still mostly fit, but were just a little awkward at first. The laces come undone more than I'd like. However, they are comfortable and sturdy and have handled long walks and a job where I stand for prolonged periods of time. I'd have no problem buying them again.

After waiting a long time to try these much hyped shoes, I was VERY disappointed! First the heather pattern was a bit large and not elegant. Then, the quality of the construction was very poor - seams not finished with raw edges, folding over and getting in the way when putting the shoe on. I was not able to just slide my foot into the shoe; I had to move the seams out of the way. Next, the shoe laces were ridiculously short! Very difficult to tie even into a tiny bow. I have small fingers. If anyone else with larger fingers tried to tie a bow it would be like tying baby shoes! Last but not least, the toe box is way too flat. I didn't think this would be a problem, given they are very soft fabric. I loved these so much. They are comfy, attractive, warm, lightweight. Wanted attractive sneakers for trip to Italy to walk around cobblestone streets. Was bringing hikers for serious walks. I have one very bad foot- arthritis and plantar fasciitis. Felt more pain after wearing these briefly inside a few days in a row. Will regrettably be returning. Love REI return policy.
These shoes may not work for people who need a lot of arch support, but for me, with a wider foot and NOT wanting arch support, there's not been a better shoe. This is my second pair. I wore the first one on day one, all day, walking all day, and my feet felt great. Those are still in the rotation, but I wanted a second color. Same awesomeness with this second pair. Super comfortable. They breathe. They wash up beautifully.
The shoe that came does not look like the shoe that I got. The shoes I got have light grey coloured eyelets for the laces, not dark like the image shows. I tried calling your NZ number several times, but there is never an answer on that line. Now I will have to drive into Auckland city to either swap these out or get a refund at your only store in New Zealand. I’ve bought All Birds for almost 10 years now. Your standards have noticbly dropped. I’m seriously considering switching to the Sketchers brand now. Such a bummer.
I love the look and coziness of these lilac colored wool sneakers, and they've drawn more questions and compliments from people than probably any other shoe I've worn (I had no idea Allbirds was such a well-known brand when I got them!). Unfortunately the tread is so thin and minimal that they were worn down to the point of being dangerous on any slick surface within just a few months of wearing them probably three days a week. I ought to have returned them because in my experience, a well-made running shoe should last me closer to six or seven years of regular wear. Unfortunately while they were out-of-rotation for the warm late summer days, I missed the one-year return window.
The idea of a wool shoe was interesting. They are light and warm. I wanted to bring them as a second pair of shoes when traveling. I bought an 8W. I found the it difficult to tie the shoe up with the thick laces. Also, as a 8W, I didn't find the width enough or the height, as my toes were cramped. I wear the shoes without tying up the laces (like a house slipper) which loses any support. I also find I need to straighten the edges of the tongue in the shoe to lay flat to be comfortable.
Very comfortable, I especially like how firm and springy the sole is. The upper is thick and warm.A few downsides: the black upper picks up and shows dirt, like little tiny bits of grass, very easily and doesn’t let them go.The inside of the heel pilled almost instantly. And I find the tongue uncomfortable. It’s narrow and has bulky seams that I feel along the top of my foot.I still find these very comfortable for long walks.
