This keyboard is not strictly for gaming. As a Finance Professional, this keyboard is amazing to use in a home-office. The tackiness of the keyboard is amazing when typing up emails and working on Excel spreadsheets. I also like how I can use this keyboard as both wire and wireless without needing to use AA or AAA batteries, so it does not disrupt my work rhythm. It would help if Alienware can make a keyboard that is lighter with smaller tactile keys as well.

This gaming keyboard is durable, easy to see, and the lights enhance my gaming desk. I do like that I have the option to have it wireless and the easy attach/detach is a great option. Having Bluetooth is great as well because all I have to do is change the mode on the keyboard and I can connect it to my laptop instead of my desktop.I went out of town for two days and left my keyboard switched on, but the lights were off so I thought the keyboard recognized that my desktop computer was turned off and would go into some sort of standby. When I returned, the battery was down to about 40% so it looks like the keyboard still consumes quite a bit of power even when it is not lit up and no keys are being pressed. Other than that, this keyboard is great and the keys are clicky just enough for me so that I don't accidentally press something without some effort.

Very nice keyboard. It does have a spring noise but hope over time it will go away. The rechargeable battery and wireless capability is a awesome feature. I do have to say the keyboards rechargeable battery does not seem last long even on dim settings. Also not all the functions light up ones missing is the FN functions pause, stop, skip, lighting, and ect. Also other thing is I have not found a sleep function. Still a great keyboard just need some improvements.Improvements needed: Battery Life, fully light-up including the FN functions and have a sleep/hibernate FN key.Overall 8/10 I say do to some lacking functions and battery life.
As a mechanical keyboard, this one is top notch, and I have tried many. The key feel (linear model) is perfect with well-defined travel and feedback. Key spacing is more generous than other keyboards I have used, making typing much more positive with my slightly larger than normal hands.But...Battery life when hooked up with Bluetooth is terrible - a matter of minutes, not hours or days as I have experienced with other keyboards. OK, so I just keep it plugged in using the handy dongle; but that kind of makes the benefits of Bluetooth moot. If I had wanted a wired keyboard, I would not have purchased this one.I'm going to keep this keyboard because I love the feel, the lighting options and the key spacing - all 5-star features. But I can only rate it 2 stars ... MoreAs a mechanical keyboard, this one is top notch, and I have tried many. The key feel (linear model) is perfect with well-defined travel and feedback. I do love this keyboard, the sound the feel for the most part. Keys do feel a bit cheap on the finger tips, but the sound and click feel is incredible. It's been a long time since I've had a mechanical keyboard. I love the RGB Colors, and especially the morph setting.I also love the connection options. I can pair this on usb wireless for my desktop and bluetooth on my laptop. And there is always the trust usb c cable. What I don't love about this keyboard, the battery life. You'll get about an hour with RGB on. So, you will basically always have this connected by cable. Luckily it is a long braided cable that is top notch quality. I also don't particularly like the AW Command center. It's slow and buggy.Still, I'd highly recommend this keyboard.

Using it is a hassle as sometimes clicks don't do anything inside the app. It is clunky to use and installed about 6-8 processes that always run in the background. You cannot really re-assign keys but rather bind a key to a macro, which can be a single key. However this doesn't really work well. There is a noticeable lag for any key bind done in this way, and the key doesn't work normally. There is no repeat like if you were just pressing the key that it is bound to. I removed the dell software completely and just use PowerToys for Windows Keyboard Manager and it works much better for remapping keys and also can support combo key shortcuts, which the dell app cannot.Overall, the keyboard physically is pretty awesome, except for perhaps the keycaps (which seem to be OEM profile).
It was a pretty keyboard, but I had too many issues with it to keep it & justify the cost. I actually returned it for a refund. First, I had issues with using the dongle while having it plugged in to charge, wouldn’t work at all. With my Alienware mouse, I can use the dongle & when the battery runs dead, quickly plug it in to charge if I’m in the middle of something. This keyboard could not do that. The battery ran dead very quickly & took forever to charge, so I tried to use it while ONLY using the USB to charge, but when the battery died, it would not work at all while being plugged in with the USB. This defeats the entire purpose of why you would even have that as an option. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, so I contacted tech support and rather than help me troubleshoot or figure out if it was something I was doing wrong, she immediately sent me a link to request a refund & ended the chat. Horrible customer service, IMO, so rather than try someone else, or call back again, I requested a refund instead. If it doesn’t work right out of the box & I have to resort to digging out my old keyboard because this one is dead and won’t work, then why did I spend almost $300 on a new keyboard? I love Alienware & I loved their last wired keyboard, but they seem to be getting things very wrong lately. The newest headphones & Mouse were just as bad. I will stick to my old Alienware peripherals that work amazing until they start making better products again… and maybe better customer service.
Amazing quality! Incredible mechanical key sound and ultra customizable RBG colors! The wireless is smooth and responsive and the magnetic charging cable is a really nice feature. Overall a great purchase! Only drawback I've found so far is the battery life is a little shorter than I'd like but that is mostly due to me having the bright RGB colors on and there are options to make them dimmer to save battery. Great purchase!
This keyboard is very comfortable, smooth and stylish for those, like me, who love the nostalgic 90s and 2000s vibe. I don't the use Bluetooth function, but I'm pretty sure others are making great use of it! I also LOVE the magnetic connector, it feels great, it's super handy and it should be a standard for all Alienware products from now on, especially considering the brand has to regain trust after all of the screw ups in the past years. The volume wheel is also amazing! Also, I had ZERO issues with the connectivity, so far. I feel little to no latency, but I'm just a casual gamer, hence not very picky.Personally, I would still like to have the old macro keys on the left side, like on the AW768. If someone is buying a non-TKL keyboard, they can probably spare the space. As for the cons, the media control switch is decent, but it's a little unstable. The battery could've been much better, since there are other wireless keyboards on the market that can take over 2 weeks of intense use with one full charge. Finally and most importantly, the customers around the forums have been almost BEGGING Alienware to add an option to control the RGB dimming behavior on the Command Center, but so far we've been ignored. The lights of this keyboard and the new mice dim after 30s of non-use, then go off after 30 more. There's NO option to keep them always on. This is extremely annoying and very inconvenient, and it could be fixed with a simple firmware/software update. If Alienware's concern is with the battery life in case such an option is available, then they should just add a warning about it beside it rather than removing a BASIC option and taking away the control of a device you own. Remember: the same goes for the mice. Please, listen to the community. Seems like the reviews are very likely to be passed along, so thanks for the consideration.
