Best Jeans. Nothing compares. Consider high temp gasket maker to protect inside button-fly.

Best jeans, 3 pairs and never an issue. They hold up better than any other jeans I've owned from Levi to Lucky. However, use a holster for any CCW in the front, the inside of the button fly scratched up my Mark 25 like it was attacked with a carbide screwdriver. coated with gasket-maker and it's perfect now. Please 5:11, consider a rubberized compount on inner button fly and these are perfect EDC jeans. Still not worth dockin a star considering there isn't anything out there close to these in terms of looks, quality, function, comfort, consistency and durability.

Awesome jeans. Favorite pairs of pants I own (I bought three of them). Just the right amount of stretch, durable, and they look good. Fabric is very comfortable material and is not too thick or too thin.If you carry IWB like I do (custom Glock 19 build), order your normal size. You don't need to go up or down in size at all (some brands you have to, like Vertx). There is just the right amount of room for your pistol and holster. This is contrary to the LAPG Terrain Flex jeans that I ordered, which have too much room in the waist. Yoke pockets for spare mags work great, and there are extra durable belt loops for running a Nexbelt or Kore Essentials gun belt.Highly recommend the 5.11 Tactical Defender Flex Slim jeans!I have the stone wash, dark indigo, and concrete ... MoreAwesome jeans. Tall and skinny dude @ 6' x 165 lbs.The 32x32" jeans fit well. Not ultra-skinny skin-tight, and not straight-leg baggy. The leg is long enough not to ride up too far when I sit down and cross my leg. The leg cuff plays well with a taller military boot (ala AR 670-1), but seems a little tight and bunches up above the shoe when rocking something with a thicker support like a Keen mid. Low shoes don't seem to create any issues. The material has a nice stretch and soft finish to it. It's great if you're active and move around a lot. Very comfortable. As far as cons, it ends up making the jean less durable in the long run. For me that means that the back wallet pocket starts to wear out in only a few months. As far as cons, it ends up making the jean less durable in the long run. For me that means that the back wallet pocket starts to wear out in only a few months. I take it to a tailor to add a Cordura backing on the inside of the pocket and that does the job. There's also a hole that develops in the crotch right by the seam after around 6 months of constant wear. That stuff is easy enough to get stitched up or reinforced. Be fair about this situation--it's to be expected with this kind of material. You can get something tough-as-nails and be uncomfortable or unsatisfied with the fit/finish, or you can choose fit/finish and sacrifice a little durability. There's no perfect jean unless you're spending 5x the price on a custom job. If you're involved in tradecraft then you know you have to customize everything anyway.Belt loops are wide enough for a CC belt. Sizing for my body allows for an AIWB or other things. The rear mag pockets are what sells the jean to me. It's either buy these or have other brands edited to add them in. Perfect for my phone, an extra mag, a small radio, or some other kit. Front pockets have some nice reinforcement on the inside for a knife; I'd like to see that go over the top at least a little to help protect the fabric from the constant wear caused by the knife clip.Overall, a great offering from 5.11. Their slim-fit style pants work well with my body type and I'd like to see more. I'd love to see this type of jean in a black, selvedge/raw, unfaded/textured denim; something a little more durable and stylish with the same cut. I'd pay $30 more for that, which feels like a fair price for the same pattern and increased material quality/cost.

The pros - Perfect for EDC and traveling. The hidden pockets easily stow a pistol mag or something about the size of a pack of cigarettes. The multiple belt loops distribute the weight of a rig nicely. At first glance they don’t look out of the ordinary for UC/off-duty. The corners of the front pockets where your pocket knife/pen goes is reinforced which is a nice touch. The cons - Material isn’t as thick (warm) as regular denim so they will fade and wear with washes but the cotton/poly blend is super comfortable. I’d recommend going down about half a size in waist and up a size in length. They’ll shrink up in the dryer a little bit but the waist will stretch out to your body so sizing down eliminates some sag. 5.11 isn’t “vanity sized” so try the different fits if ... MoreThe pros - Perfect for EDC and traveling. Good but not great.

These jeans are great. The flexibility, extra pockets and the additional belt loops make these jeans perfect. However, their quality not so great. Out of the 7 pair I own 4 of them have ripped in the crotch area with minimal use.For almost $90 a pair I was hoping these jeans would have lasted a lifetime. I have older Old Navy jeans which have lasted longer and were cheaper. A bit disappointing.

Good fitting, functional jeans
12 February 2021

I got these about a month ago and really like them. They fit true to size, look good, comfy and are very functional. Time will tell how they hold up and if they shrink too much after many washes. I’ve already washed them a few times, though, and they haven’t noticeably shrunk. The extra pockets and stretch material are great. I even did squats with them on one time. Although they’re slim fitted, they’re not tight fitting like skinny jeans. I’d say their slim fit is spot on - not tight, not baggy, just right.I gave these only 4 stars because of the belt loops - there are too many of them for my liking. Too many belt loops interferes with holster placement and the carrying of other items on the belt, like a pocket knife or belt mounted mini flashlight. They also slow down a bit the threading of the belt. But that’s just me and many other folks actually prefer more belt loops. So while it bothers me enough to knock it down one star, that alone doesn’t detract on how good these jeans are, at least while relatively new. For the price, hopefully they’ll hold up.

Great Pair of Jeans
22 March 2022

I really like the jeans with the deep indigo color, love the extra pockets and the amount of flexibility that they provide throughout the day. The side hip mounted pockets can hold anything from a standard 5.56 magazine to anything in your EDC you carry on a daily basis out of the way. My one concern is the amount of ink that’s still in them. They have still managed to bleed through about 5 washes now. After the first one and wearing seeing the ink transfer I decided to wash some old jeans with them so as to add some color to the old ones. Other than that the defender flex jeans are a great pair of jeans from the tactical to the casual outing.

I have had a pair
14 March 2023

I have had a pair of 5.11 jeans in a different color and style for years and they are very durable. They’re very comfortable and size and fit is consistent. 5.11 seems to be the only brand that makes clothing sizes that are actually consistent from one style to the next. Along with the fact that they look a feel good. They’re a little more on the pricey side, but in this case, you get what you pay for. I’ve had another pair for years and have not had any issues.

Now my EDW (Every Day Wear)

I have been used to everyday designer jeans and the wear and tear rate and over stuffed pockets were starting to be a real nuisance. I ordered one pair in order to test out the product and I can tell you I will be ordering more soon. The Flex for everyday movement is amazing and honestly look like designer jeans. From the tactical standpoint, carrying IWB appendix, the waistband is tight enough to tuck in the claw tight as to avoid printing, yet flexing enough to have very little gap on the slide side like normal jeans. The mag pocket allows me to carry a spare comfortably offset to the point you do not sit on top of it. The coin pocket fits 3 or 4 fingers and is deep enough to actually use for pens or a knife. I am a 5'5" 145lb guy, who is wider in the shoulders and smaller on the hips. I have had trouble finding fits and usually settle for 30x30 but was very happy to see 28x30 as many companies do not offer them. Excellent work and highly recommended.

Sizing?
10 June 2023

I've been wearing the defender flex slim jeans for years (and the df slim pants) because it offered a nice tailored look, you can get them in the half sizes, meaning waist size 31, and they are super durable and comfortable.I just purchased a new pair to replace one that I've worn every day for two years. The size and cut was completely different, like i was wearing a burlap sack. I then laid it on top of my other multiple pairs and it was a solid inch longer and wider in the leg and waist, at least. It was not tapered, in fact was more of a straight leg or boot cut. So I took it into a 5.11 store, thinking I may have gotten a bad batch or mislabeled pair. Not sure what's going on here but disappointed I need to find another daily pant. I used to live in these pants they were perfect. I may just patch up my old ones because I'm stubborn and love them and don't want to move on.
